  • since last august... I've been listening to this song at least once a day and NEVER, not once, I felt a little bored... makes me feel weird... ahh fucking love it!!!

  • The song features a number of changes in tempo, a sped-up double-tracked vocal part by Barrett, while Mason simultaneously sings the normal part (one of the rare moments he ever sang on a Floyd record), an instrumental section that continually increases in speed featuring wah-wah guitar solos and keyboards, and surreal lyrics. Syd Barrett is only clearly audible on one line in the song, "she'll be scrubbing bubbles on all fours."

  • Happy b-day Syd....

  • I can't stop listening to this song, its been months since I listen to this at least once a day!

  • nick is singing reg voice...syd is the chipmonk

  • Comment removed

  • Sounds like strange carnival music. I like it.

  • For some reason this speaks to me ..

  • Jesus, Syd was crazy.

  • @ProjectFlashlight612 This song was actually written and sung by nick mason.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheControlMN nick does sing here yes but syd chimes in at times & syd did write the song

  • <3<3<3

  • Nick sounds a little like Roger singing

  • alvin and the chipmunks in the background lol

  • SCREAM THY LAST SCREAM OLD WOMAN WITH A CASKET !!

    thank you for the upload

  • Nick is singing

  • Syd is not singing the lead for all that think he is.....

  • @JamesOscar and your lyrics are atrociously off.........

  • They should release all the unreleased ,other than previous compilation, pink floyd material that was recorded during the barret era and have them in an experience edition of "why pink floyd?"

  • @gnr1456 Relics '71 was lacking in a lot of stuff and it frustrated a collector like me. This track is evil and I love it.

  • You don't need to be off your tree to appreciate interesting music.... I'm living proof of that;)

  • !!!

  • Thumbs up. Yes.?!#

  • yes syd barrett did acid but not every comment has to be about psychedelic drugs.

  • Syd and Hendrix are the ultimate LSD icons

  • Syd was the best, this song sounds like a mess, but everything is perfect

  • i remeber listening alot of pink floyd when i was in 7th grade haha....i even tried to make my school band immitate them once. now a days i think, i used to like this??? but still this is cool, even if it`s just to remember my child times pink floyd rules

  • too acid.... between Vegetable man and this, what would you think barret was?

  • This is a better mix than most of those on youtube. That sped up voice of Syd is buried in the mix instead of front and center. Easier on the ears. You also get to hear the count in.

  • this music gives me the chills its so good

  • I'm still awaiting conception and this music is much better than the ethereal void where i'm currently residing.

  • @Jarren202 ha ha, win

  • search for cover...

KubikSahara - Scream Thy Last Scream (Syd Barrett)

    How do you like it?

  • lyrics above are way off... but Syd sounds totally wasted when he sings "She'll be scrumping for apples on all fours."

  • Woah, this is better than Boris the Spider! Way better! :D

  • i didn't know for this!thanks benefit!

  • This song is really no weirder than "Boris the Spider". It's actually better! Why they didn't release it is beyond me.

  • i remember droppin acid and chillin with my gf and listening to some floyd one time. putting on this song at one point and i remember we had the giggles pretty good. especially when out of nowhere i'm just like "Flaing your awms mahdly!" in my wanna be accent but it was so funny at the time, my god we both couldnt stop laughing.. what an awesome girl to trip with. also, yes. i'm sure no one cares:P

  • @TheThroney

Nothing beats tripping with someone you like/love/fuck.

  • Nick Mason is lead vocals.. BUT! Syd Barrett sings "She'll be scrubbing bubbles on all fours"

  • the backing"duck"voice is Norman Smith

  • @sermax75 Its Syd pitched up

  • A pinnacle. There the British empire hit it's top note and faded.

  • Holy shit is this Nick singing??

  • @CtrlRm YEP

  • @CtrlRm yes.

  • @CtrlRm Yeah, the only part Syd sings is "She'll be scrubbing bottles on all four"

  • @CtrlRm Oddly enough, it is indeed Mr. Nick Mason on lead vocals. By the way...I think poor Syd was really out of his mind when he "wrote" this number.

  • this song is weird but a trip wow

  • I swear there was a version somewhere without that annoying voice. I may be wrong and just making shit up because i want it to exist, but can anyone else confirm this?

  • @DukeDanceum yes . look up the BBC sessions version :)

  • dammit itunes has none of these fucking songs... AHHHHH!!!!

  • @SlymmieFatts you have to improvise, use a youtube to mp3 converter. easy fix!

  • quack quack

  • the correct lyrics!

Scream thy last scream old woman with a casket, Plan, plan your pointers, point your pointers, Waddle with apples to crunchy Mrs. ?Stores?, She'll be scrubbing bottles of all fours...;Scream thy last scream old woman with a casket, Fling your arms madly old lady with a daughter, Flat tops of houses, mouses, houses, Piddle and diddle, they're sitting fat..; Watching the tele' 'til all hours silly child, Fling your arms madly old lady with a daughter,

  • This is the song Blur tried to write for 15 years and couldn't. Barrett magic.

  • @easepleaseme belter comment!

  • I stand corrected. Still love it - so sick and so English!

  • is that Nicks beautiful voice speed up, I like him on Corporal Clegg, wish he had sung more songs

  • Comment removed

  • And Rick Wright's organ! Trippeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

  • SYD rules!!! His vocals and guitar on this are fantastic.

  • @siouxie921 she'll be scrubbing bubbles on all fours.......is the only lead vocal line Syd sings in this whole song........listen again...you can clearly tell this line is Syd, and the rest is Nick. as far as the backing vocals, i believe its Nick's voice, anybody know?

  • @JamesOscar You're right, and I'm wrong. In fact, I read this is Nick Mason's only lead vocal in the whole Floyd catalogue.

  • Not too bad this song somehow I like it

  • This is the sound of Sid's mind going--and yes, i know it's Nick singing. Probably the greatest unreleased song of the 60's. Will Floyd ever put it out?

  • this reminds me a saucerful of secrets (album) . do you think it should be on the saucerful of secrets?

  • @pigsontherun It was actually made around that time, and I think it was also planned to be a single. But I think the record label wasn't keen on releasing it as a single, and then the rest of the band chose to not release it at all. They didn't release Vegetable Man, either. Both got bootlegged.

In the end, Apples & Oranges became the single, and Jugband Blues was put on the "A Saucerful of Secrets" album.

They also played this song live, and there are a few live bootlegs of this song.

  • Wow - after taking some acid - he sings with he´s new freinds the smurfs !

    Smølfe godt : )

  • i think this is the most psychedelic song ever , listen to the instrumental part.

  • This is one of the best tracks from the Syd Barrett era, to me, anyway. Even though he later tried to distance himself from the whole thing, I know Barrett always knew he launched what Pink Floyd eventually became. And he'd be right to be proud.

  • "oh suck it" or "oh sod it" @2:05

  • @rokarolla "Oh, sock it to me..." "to me" is not very loud. One of Syd's self depricating jokes. dxguy

  • Waddle with apples to crunchy resistors.... watching the tele till all hours tending time..

  • 2:00 to 2:10 reminds me if i was on acid and dancing with syd in a meadow <3 <3 <3 i love u syd r.i.p my love

  • amazing track. :) ;) :)

  • I am 2 years old and this music is much better than teletubbies, my generations music is much less creative.

    Anyhow, I love this mess...

  • @gainweighttoday I'm 6 months old

  • @gainweighttoday Hahahaha... Fool! :P

  • @gainweighttoday You're only 2? You can spell very well

  • It amuses me how Nick and Rick pantomime male sex @ 0:35

  • this is insane! sounds like it was written by a schtzophrenia patient...long live floyd

  • @vagabondfloydzep it's written by a schiozephrenia patient, syd barrett

  • @pigsontherun I don't think his schitzophrenia, if he even had it, has to do with him making an awesome song. He just has great psychedelic and musical genius

  • @pigsontherun Maybe, but at least he knew how to spell!

  • Maybe this will be issued,Finally,on those "Who's Pink Floyd?" sets? Maybe? Hope so!

  • this needs to be officially released...i'd buy it...it's a bit crazy, yes, but not releasing it is worse almost...

  • I don't care what anybody says, this song is bad ass. Hell SYD BARRETT is bad ass. May he continue to shine on the crazy diamond....

  • Nobody in the production of this music ever took recreational drugs of any type.

  • Version on the BBC Archives bootleg is waaaaay better.

  • I reall do not think this is really heavy metal as other have stated, Syd Barret was bat shit crazy and the music rflected how he was getting crazier and crazier.

  • This is different to the version I've heard, definitely isn't SId on vocals here.

  • @Yorkmackem I agree.

  • Say what anyone will but Pink Floyd is indebted to Syd. He was the pith of the peach. I like much of their stuff after Syd but Syd was the seed that grew,

  • Syd is all

  • You can hear someone coughing @1:31/32!!! Is that Nick singing lead, and Syd's the chipmunk backing?

  • @egyptianminor Yeah, Mason does lead, and Syd does the varispeed vocals, and the bridge "she'll be scrubbing bubbles on all fours."

  • Question:

Was there more than one recording of this? Compare this one with the one uploaded by Verruckt89 (It should be in these related videos).

This one is at a higher pitch than the other one, but on the other one, the high backing vocal is more prevelant while on this one it's much more in the background.

Were there different takes? Is one just an incorrect mix?

  • @Billinois78 Apparently someone wanted to hear the high voice in the background and it's syd; Nick sings the lower part.

  • @Billinois78 I believe there's a version somewhere in which Syd is the only main singer.

  • @peesyweesy Thanks. I remember reading that somewhere, during my info search but I'm glad to see someone else say it. I also read that there was a mono and stereo version, but I'm not sure if that would've really affected the vocal levels too much.

  • Is there an album out there by now WITH THIS song? I'd love to have a 320 kbit version :)

  • WTF WHATS THIS NEW ALBUM TELL ME TELL ME TELL ME MOOOOREE LOL xxx <3

  • Syd,Syd :|

  • I'm being highly speculative here, but my belief is that if Syd Barrett held himself together and stayed with the band, Pink Floyd wouldn't have played contemporary rock in the 70s, but heavy metal. Syd's music was getting heavier, which might explain why this and "Vegetable Man" weren't included in the album. When Gilmour entered, everything toned down.

  • The fuck is this? Mason singing? :O

  • Damn this is some heavy shit.

  • @ThePaulpFiction It's Floyd - heavy isn't the word... Cold - Steel - rail ARE.

  • Love this song, one of the Madcap's best. It highlights Syd's talent in showing how he could write a gem amidst the madness that was about to engulf him. The instrumental and it's musical assault is great proving that the Floyd with Barrett was their peak. If only Gilmour and Waters took that imagination and creativity later on into the bands career then they wouldn't have been the polished bores that they became.

  • how come alvin and the chipmunks are singing backup? (hahaha)

  • Nick Mason sounds funny.

  • Roger Waters looks like a fag with that giant fur coat

Who wants to burn EMI headquarters to the ground for not releasing this?

  • @TristanH90 fuck off dude roger waters is a god and its the 60s/70s what do you expect dumbass they were a strange group

  • @Griffin11797 Sorry Roger Waters. Don't tell me to fuck off though. Yeah its true, they had a lot of really strange and comical outfits. Theres a picture of the four of them (not with Barrett but gilmour) all sitting down wrapped in a velvet pink sheet, lol, its hilarious. I was trying to be civil but you called me a dumbass for that? Your a real prick.

  • Such an underrated song.

  • SCREAM THY LAST SCREAM,

    Old woman with a casket.

    Syd you crazy motherfucker, you.

  • bloody brilliant!

  • WOW. That instrumental middle is AMAZING. This was outtaked wasn't it?

  • "...they [Pink Floyd] didn't put 'Scream Thy Last Scream' out next because I have heard it reported that

when they recorded it that the sound engineer heard some screams in the backgroud. After he investigated it further they found that they had picked up the screams of a girl being murdered just outside the studio

and this freaked everybody out. I am not sure how accurate this is..."

  • @NewSuperMarioBrows And when we can hear those screams? which second?

  • @happothevampire i dont know :D

  • @NewSuperMarioBrows where did you hear this from?

  • @ThePsychedelicLemon from an german page "sagen.at/texte/gegenwart/deutschland/holihnuntersdach"

  • any dislikes on this video have obviously never gotten high,

and don't know true poetry and talent, when they hear it..

  • This is way better than Roger.

  • I wonder why Syd Barrett didn't sing this one himself , Nick Mason does a fine job, but Syd only seems to be singing one line, and not very enthusiastically either. Anyway, this song scared the absolute shit out of me (it would be a good one to play at Hallow'een), I'm off now to get a stiff drink.

  • @musicartism I often wonder if Nick singing was to appease the record companies. Some people can't tell Nick's vocals from Syd's.

  • @CrazyAlvis I don't believe that is the case. Pink Floyd fans (I hope!) would know immediately that is not Syd Barrett singing the main vocals. Pink Floyd (all five) have all very distinctive singing voices and styles, there is no way one could be confused with another. Anyway, Nick does a fine job with it, but it would not be my favourite song of Syd's (way too disturbing for me, it's like a nursery rhyme gone badly wrong and made grotesque and turned into a bleak nightmare).

  • some, myself included, think syd encouraged nick mason to sing lead so the record companies would be even more turned off, knowing the song had little commercial appeal. when performed live in the manner of which the floyd did "set the controls", "interstellar", "take up thy steth", etc, this song had the structure to be wonderful and could have blossomed with the slow to fast build up as the heart of an immprov, freestyle song base!!!!!! why can't people get that? this is art rock folks!

  • Comment removed

  • mason also did the lead vocal with gilmour in corporal clegg

  • Saucerful would have been so much better if this song and Vegetable Man were included. Vegetable Man could have ended side A right after Corporal Clegg, and Scream Thy last Scream could have been palced somewhere on the B-side.

I hope they sometime release a remaster of the album with these two songs added.

  • @DoctorPencilK something like Beatles´s "Let it be Naked"?

  • The Chipmunks on backing vocals? What? Only Syd...

  • What a fantastically wacky version of this song... Awesome!!

  • this song makes me miss syds voice and when it comes on it makes me smile!

  • awsome

  • Screeeeam thy laaaast screeeeam ! hehehe

    Very nice accent !

  • EMI refused to release this song and Vegetable Man even though they're no better or worse than songs like Scarecrow, Jugband Blues, etc. SEE WHAT HAPPENS, KIDS, WHEN YOU SIGN TO A MAJOR LABEL.

  • this is fuckin fucked. and i love it

  • @Theknuckler49 same reason i love it :)

  • Comment removed

  • @Theknuckler49 Does anyone know how to close-cycle it? This SONG is contagious.

  • those effects in the end, like concert crowd going mad and the girl's voice at the end?! LOL, what year was it? I am almost sure no one tried this before them....

  • did they have the sped up vocals on the original master mix does anyone know?

  • Comment removed

  • Love the pic of Syd at 2:02 that is me at this point in my life....i am in pain 20 hours out of the day due tokidney failure and neuropathy and in bed all day and can barely survive the pain WITH percocet......Im like Syd after his acid casulatiy when he was living with Duggie Fields OR John Lennon in the 70s when he stayed in bed all day

  • Nick Mason is definitely a good singer...

  • Comment removed

  • If they ever make a new remaster of Saucerful, they should really add this and Vegetable Man. This one could play after See-saw, and Vegetable man could be after Corporal Clegg.

I wonder if the remaining Pink Floyd members have vowed to never release these tracks. Hope not, because these songs are great.

  • The middle jam is amazing. Scream Thy last scream and Vegetable Man should have both been on Saucerful

  • Comment removed

  • I thought it was Syd who sung the song... But as it seems it's Mason !!!

    o.O

    Is that true???

  • @EddieBsB - Syd does the chipmunk voice and the "she'll be scrubbing on all 4's"

Mason does the rest, as far as vocal.

  • @EddieBsB

Mason is singing lead for most of it, and Syd is singing the high pitched backing. However, I believe its Syd singing "She'll be rubbing bubbles on all four."

  • @clockworkfiction3

    Yes, this is correct.

  • SCREAM MAN SCREAM YEA SCREAM MAN

  • Madcap Laughs, this is one of the better songs they opted to scrap

  • wrong lyrics
