I don't know about you guys, but whenever X speaks in an MMX game without voice acting, dialog boxes in X4 and sprite comics, I instantly picture Mark Gatha speaking with his X voice.

Probably because it didn't play music before you applied the patch.

There are a lot of stripped-down versions of the game floating around the internet which have removed or reduced quality music/video for the sake of cutting filesize. Please check that your game works properly before trying to mod it.

This isn't a speedrun/mad-skillz video, I'm demonstrating a sound hack. And screwups get pretty common when you're playing in a 320x240 window with hardware acceleration disabled so that your screen-capture software can keep up on your craptacular computer, along with a non-standard controller.

I like it. Mark Gatha was the best upgrade X has ever gotten. Even better than all the armors. lol. The first actual good voice he's ever gotten. X7 was the worst.

Hell no. X4 was by far the worst. At least X7 made him sound male. But yeah, Mark Gatha is great as X, and it's a damn shame he quit the voice acting career. I think that's part of why Capcom never made a Maverick Hunter X2.

Hardly. Capcom of Japan makes the games; Mark Gatha is only relevant to english localization by Capcom of America.

There is no MHX2 because MHX1 sold poorly (at the time of its release; PSP was still unproven as a gaming platform, most people were using it to watch movies). If they reconsider MHX's lifetime sales and fan demand, maybe they'll change their minds. Inafune certainly seems keen on the idea.

This voice suits X a lot better. I think the reason they had a woman doing X's voice in the English dub (in the Japanese version X had a male voice) was to somehow make X more boyish just like the Original Megaman. Capcom made a good move on giving X a male voice in the later games.

Not realy. the only reason is the game had the same exact VAs as Megaman 8; which had a woman doing Rock's voice to make him sound like a little boy. Unfortunately, that just didnt work when they tried it on X...

Frankly, even I was raising eyebrows at one of the three jumping grunts (the first one you hear in the video). It was grouped with X's X8 lines, but it sounds off to me.

There's a distressing lack of generic X grunts between X8 and Command Mission, so the fact that jumping takes three got a bit tricky.

I dont know about him quitting but there havent been any megaman X games since 2004 so its understandable if hes doing somethine else now. I heard hes a doctor in Nova Scotia. I hope he comes back on occcasion. Voiceing MMX is minimally part time especially if his dialouge could be done in a few days. Being a doctor would be more of his life. I hope he does comeback for X One day. I wonder what he might think about returning for his role. I also wonder wat Nova Scotia is like while Mark's there.
