Balkan music represents a huge amount of material, just like western classical or pop music. Would any one here go to bulgaria and start calling the blue bands out for ripping off muddy waters? Could it be that no one is really stealing considering that the entire Balkans is pretty homogeneous and that Serb, Romanian, Greek, Bulgarian and most of western Turkey are pretty much all related via the Thracian substratum? Zajdi, zajdi, jasno sonce is composed by Aleksandar Sarievsk, but this is modern version. It's originaly bulgarian. The melody is really old (16-17 century). Before the Liberation of Bulgaria. And the original poems are written by Karavelov.

If Tyler Bates wrote a blues track for a film, using the standard blues progression and tone choices, would you accuse him of plagiarism. Balkan music represents a huge amount of material, just like western classical or pop music. Would any one here go to bulgaria and start calling the blue bands out for ripping off muddy waters? Could it be that no one is really stealing considering that the entire Balkans is pretty homogeneous and that Serb, Romanian, Greek, Bulgarian and most of western Turkey are pretty much all related via the Thracian substratum?
