That first speaker! Shame of humanity! The cowardice of the indoctrinated knows no bounds - they fear to live as they wish, so they allow themselves to be commanded. This kind of moral, intellectual and emotional servility has no place in the 21st century.
If you want to change world for better... start with yourself... stop yelling at your love ones... stop using faul language with your sons and daughters... stop backstabbing your coworkers... stop gossiping... stop using sex to get a carrier.... stop throwing mud at the people you don't like... goodness has to start around you and with you... not with judging others....
Secular people DO believe certain things can be objectively proven, including the benefits or consequences of various moral stances. Lying about condoms and helping spread aids is still a huge crime not excused by the fact that they later preach to the afflicted and provide aid. "That was ages ago" is not an excuse when it comes to covering up pedophilia. And laughing off the tough questions is lame.
I am against relativism and believe that it is a threat for western society. There are objective truths, both scientific and ethical truths. I don't think the church knows these truths, but I agree with Ratzinger on this point. I say this as an atheist.
In 1968 people had enough of the dogmatic church and their control over western European societies. The students and young people rebelled against the power of the almighty Catholic Church.
If that was the reason why Benedict became conservative, than let him rot in Rome.
Did I not read in the bible, that the last act Jesus did, was to pee from the cross upon a desciple who revealled himself to be gay ...? Must have been in the bonus-section or as a hidden-bonus ...
Then again, thinking how jesus was never married, only hung around males (later 'butch' romans) apart from his mother; Freud would have had a field day with the man!
But the modern ones are a little too limp ... I think of the great names, Boniface VIII, Leo X, Urban VI, John XII, Alexander VI, etc. Drunk, whoring, murderous bastards in a time, when things where the other way round: catholics were partying and the hugenots teatotalers.
I find it so disturbing that at the heart of the Church’s distaste for secular humanism is that it believes when left to our own devices humans will inevitably make the wrong choices. Now what a lack of faith THAT is!
Just because alot of the scandals are old doesn't make them any less relavent. There are still victims from these "old scandals." This women is morally depraved, scandals are scandals and they don't stop being so until these rapist in disguise as church men are brought to justice. I think it's time the Catholic Church cleaned house top to bottom.
"Old scandals" indeed. Correct me if I'm wrong, was it not the church itself, specifically Ratzinger who put gag-orders on the victims and encouraged silence and subterfuge from the diocese involved in any "investigation" (I use that word loosely)?
The Church enforce silence for years and then when it finally comes up just say "oh, but it was soooo long ago, it's not relevant!"
Secular human relativism? What about secular humanism that is not relativistic? The secular humanists I know are all moral objectivists and moral universalists.
Church SURVIVED nazism...? Yes, by SUPPORTING and COLLUDING with nazism.
And the 2 classic questions... First one, classicly, dodged, though not well, and the second one, classicly stumped, which at the very least, was an honest response.
@6:15 so because the "church is giving aid" after they have lied about the effectiveness of condoms, sabotaged the distribution of condoms, it's not a biggie that these poor people die of aids and probably spread it further.
The answer of that woman is not only depraved of moral conscience, it is an infantile and asinine way of dodging the question which is insulting the intellect of the viewer.

As I said in the first part, I am very glad the Pope fears us, atheists, secularists etc.

Ratzinger likes order, truth and aesthetics so much that he will even sacrifice the church for their sake.
