i love this album my dad has it but it was in his car so i went here and a somthing to make it more interesting cus one picture is not enuff sooooooo... eney way thanks love it!.
@TheGreatSimaChops Not all of Weird Al's song's are parodies of specific songs. Some are "style parodies" that are meant to emulate a band's sound, but not any one of their songs. This one is definitely the B-52's...it's funny listening to this song again, cuz' you're right, I can hear about 5 or 6 B-52's songs embedded in this one Weird Al tune. Pretty awesome.
It's 'Mr.Popeil'. And its not about Ron Popeil, it's about his father Samuel. Lisa Popeil (sam's daughter/ron's sister) was a backup vocalist on this track.
@CellarTroll42 I believe Lisa Popeil also worked with Al on his voice after this track was recorded. He started having a much more mature singing style after this...his modern singing voice is NOTHING like when he started out.
I lost this tape years ago, but according to his official website's tracklist for In 3D, its spelled "Mr. Popeil" No biggie to me though... thanks for uploading this great album :)

OH, If Fred Schneider of the B-52s would've sang the lead (Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilson as backups) to this song, it would be TOTALLY EPIC!

Actually, that's how it's spelled for the song.

Really? My bad. Everything on the internet says otherwise. I guess I'll have to consult my tape archive.

@sonicmario64 Um, no it's not. Popeil; did you listen to the actual song?

It could be parodying almost any B-52's song; but it reminds me the most of the 'There's a Moon in the Sky'. :)

Thanks for uploading the entire album. I haven't heard some of these since I was little. :-)
One thing, though: the title isn't "Mr. Pompeil", but "Mr. Popeil." It's about Ron Popeil who's been a staple of the infomercial world for decades.
You can still see him on late at night with his Showtime Rotisserie and his own set of super sharp knives (forget the name).

It's not a direct parody and it came out in 1983-1985. Somewhere around there.
