Hey. You will need a macro lens, a vibrating or rotating system for the focus screen and then the photo lens. You cand find many ways to build it on your own, over the internet. I also thought of building it myself, but after a while i've realized that a semi-professional Handy35 is much better. Good luck.
hi there, I just bought one and I found I have to zoom a bit so that I can get rid of the "tunnel" created by the length of the adapter plus the lens. Do you have to zoom in as well??
@atachouse thanks for your response, also I'd like to know, if you do everything hand held or do you use a shoulder mount rig? I just start filming and, it is crazy heavy after long periods of time
I am not talking about the background, I know what 35 DOF adapters supposed to do. I meant that EVERYTHING is blur, even which supposed to be sharp, what you supposed to focus on.
ahh, i just personally didn't think it was that bad! Seems like he just got the adapter and is still getting used to it, that's why it's not always in focus all the way.
Also, it's pretty tough getting good focus with just the small screen on the camera once you have a 35mm adaptor, i rely mainly on my 9inch LCD screen!
@vladtepesdrac no no, i didnt mean that bad, i was just curious that its normal or maybe just because in the viewfinder you cant really always see what is totally sharp and what not. I want to buy one for a HD pro cam.
depends on what type of camera you use. I have a SONY SR12. I set the camera to manual focus and rotate the ring until the maximum distance, then I focus with my photo lens (Canon 100mm f2.0). For best results I recomend to use all the camera settings on manual (exposure, shutter speed). Enjoy.

I really want to make my own 35mm adapter for my Panasonic HDC-SD60, do you think it will work?
I already have the 35mm lens from an old analog camera my dad had. What else do I need to buy?
Beautiful video :D

why is it always out of focus (blur)
planetrics 2 years ago
that's the point of a 35 mm adapter! You get a more cinematic feel with great depth of field and bigger/cleaner bokeh.
Basically, it looks more like a movie when you have the background really out of focus!

why dont you experiment? Find out what you like? Create you're own style and 'look'?

Awesome footage. How much does the handy35 go for on the market now?

The New Handy35 v5 is arround 700$. I have a v3. It was at the same price, but the new v5 has some cool new features. Kadir is a great designer.

there is heavy vignetting in the video... though there's awesome bokeh! is this video color corrected?
nice song in the beginning... wats it called?
imster 2 years ago
i think the vignetting is stronger because I've addded more contrast and less brightness to the video. that's all. the song...my creation.
