Dr. Debold: you move from the material plane of understanding into the spiritual. You are now speaking of "women's nature." That sounds like regression on your intellectual path. I liked your edges in the material analysis of women in society. Culture, capitalism, materialism. Do you say that "men's nature" is better designed but women's nature is a bar to female power? Self-titled guru Andrew Cohen refers to Elizabeth Debold as WIE's "resident feminist." That tells me something right there. Cohen and his buddy Ken Wilbur claim that patriarchy was "co-created" by men and women. The last issue of WIE featured the "New Man," a wimpy, feminized, confused half-a-man who's lost his identity because postmodern feminists have squashed his manly nature. Debold, Cohen, Wilbur and WIE fail to speak to me as a woman or feminist. Ekhart Tolle on the other hand...

If it is true that women once did not have, but now have, control over their bodies, etc -it is only true of women living in 'western' countries and amongst the more wealthly of these women. It is not my belief that women have been programmed to believe they need male protection and that this has created a fear to be 'out'. I do believe that separartion is a state of belief. I feel this analysis is overly simple and I want to hear how we 'come together beyond ego' and what 'new' then evolves.

This message builds into something promising, as it focuses on the evolution of women, but then quickly devolves, as it seems to serve little more than as a promotion of Andrew Cohen's great work, somewhat like the role of WIE itself.

THIS is enlightenment? Some women are choosing to rise above the victim-based, divisive movement of the past 50 years. But, this doesn't go in that direction. It's unsubstantial message is wrapped in tired, old gender drama. I'm surprised that the WIE people are promoting it. Yes, women's liberation is historically new and our collective psyche is having trouble catching up. Yes, groups of people trying to work together for the first time can collapse in in-fighting. But this is not a female preserve! I read the 2007 WIE issue on women's liberation and I am still recovering - it was full of weird assumptions about women. Such a missed opportunity as it is WONDERFUL to discuss women's liberation - which we still need!

Mnyeh. I am surprised at what I perceive as lack of depth in Dr. D's analysis. It doesn't appear she's read other women's writings on holistic spirituality for women, nor realized that in any working group -men, women, or mixed- there will be issues that arise. It's not about women's "nature". Certainly not been my experience & I've worked with women for 35 years & am a feminist myself. Also, watched & read some of Cohen's stuff & just didn't relate. Wait a minute - Andrew Cohen and Dr. Bebold are saying that backbiting comprises women's nature? Going to have to disagree.. 'backbiting' is that of an egoic relationship and should not be considered women's or men's true nature!

I thinks Andrew Cohen and Dr. Debold are simply saying that in order for women to come together in real collaboration and community they need to do it beyond ego. Beyond ego is a more authentic expression of who you are. The result would be a more authentic engagement between women - a powerful womens movement!

My reaction as I watched was basically "So what?" until about minute 4:30, when Dr. Debold started talking about how women come together and hinting at how that picture could change. THAT got my attention.

It got my attention for the reasons listed in my previous comment above. I'm not too moved by WIE or their information. I think Eckhart Tolle has more to offer persons in his two books then this organization with all its speakers and information thus far.

I'd have more to say about the issues above and more, but will stop here.
