@fryboylll You are correct,I had both of those model kits.....Both kits were made but Monogram....Cykill was a VR-041 Saber Cyclone and Leader One was the VFA-6Z Alpha (Red Jupiter Base Alpha) but,it has an additional missile pod in the middle between the standard shoulder missile pods in jet mode which also allowed you to mount the gun on top of the jet

I used to have the Jetfire toy as a kid and this is actually the first time I ever seen this ad.

Unlike the ad, Jetfire was made to look different in the TV series and was called Skyfire no doubt because the toy was based on the Robotech toy which was repainted and had an autobot symbol put on it.

I still have the body of my G1 Jetfire & yeah had to chase down a none beat up complete one!

Robotech didn't air in my area either so once I saw it years later on Toonami I freeked seeing the actual figure in animated action!

The figure can still keep up with & even surpass alot of whats on the shelf today.

Jetfire was never used in the actual cartoon series. I had that action figure, but the cartoon series used a transformer named "Skyfire" instead. Jetfire was way cooler looking!

@eshaw2115 Technically when this commecial was released, Robotech hadn't been made yet. Also, Hasbro licensed the mold legally from Bandai. So as a kid you wouldn't recognize it as a Veritech, since no one in the US had yet hear of them!

@Terryfan Actually the changed Jetfire's art so episodes with him in them could be released in Japan because Bandai was currently selling the Robotech line and they didn't want a cartoon with the same art competing against their toy.

Hasbro didn't rip off Robotech. Bandai licensed the mold to Hasbro. It doesn't matter really, 25 years later the Transformers are still around and that other one, whatever its name was, isn't. The test of time says that that plane's name is JETFIRE!!!

The only Transformers toys that are original to Hasbro are the ones that came after the original Transformers movie, I believe Galvatron, Cyclonous, Etc, because those were designed for the movie first and not from a toy.
