ha... the maps for apps can be done with jailbreaking, just as the wallpaper behind the icons... they finally figured it out... way too late i've been using those ever since i got my ipod. the multitask is pretty neat though.

@MrMacAndPC Yes, they are both the exact same service except My iPhone Activation had some naming issues, so we had to redirect our service to a newer name. That also brought in our new "simple activation" plot as well. :)

I hope the 2nd gen touch can use the screen lock and iPod controls, in os 2.0 you could pull up the iPod controls anytime, but in the os 3.0, you can only use them when music is playing, what gives!?

Because in beta 2, it kept forgetting my email passwords and i would have to go back into settings and type in the passwords to my 7 different email addresses which was a pain in the ass...

So, actually, hitting the home button doesn't quit the app? That's very inconvenient. Seems like the only way to close an app is by hitting the "-" sign in the "griller".

I foresee upcoming clutter to the "griller" for people who like using many apps one after another.

@rubikbg it DOES quit the app, but if it has a background API in use that you're using, that API will continue running. So you could run every app on all 11 springboard pages, if none of them have a backgroundable API you were using, then all those apps in the "griller" would have no effect on the performance of your device even if you stop them all.

however, if there is an API you're using from an app, such as playing music on pamdora, or making a call from skype, it will continue after u exit

@islanderlynch16 No, 4.0 is already slow on the 2G as it is, anything more as much as a wallpaper would kill it. i thought steve jobs was being an ass not adding multitasking to the 2G, but once i saw how it runs on the 2G... i downgraded..

@adequitprawn trust me, it was a good idea. 4.0 is slow as hell on the iPod touch 2G as it is, multitasking and wallpapers will just make it a piece of shit

@johnathon124 I agree with multitasking, but with the wallpaper there is already a black png as a wallpaper. Adding a bit more complicated png would not be a memory hog. It is just apples way of getting iPod users to upgrade their hardware.

@Drummertist The multitasking bar (the "griller") only pops up in Portrait mode. Hope this gets tweaked in a later beta.

Is there any risk in downloading the OS 4.0 beta 3 from an "unofficial" site? Is there anything wrong with the older version of the beta (before it was pulled) or was it just a mistake in the SDK? I'm currently running OS 4.0 beta 2 and I am registered with a developer.
