  • fuckin kick ass

  • I FUCKIN LOVE THIS BAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol stagediving on a MBV concert

  • Wow that's loud.

    Awesome.

  • wall of sound goodness

  • I Love the Way Debbie Plays Bass Its Awesome

  • I love this,I remember them being played alot mid 80's in my flat+the Butthole Surfers...are there any wall of noise bands left like this...kind of reminds me of my fav Sonic Youth..god I've loved them 20 odd yrs too..I'm OLD!!!!

  • my my fukin bloody V

gods of sound noise music ental

  • another one for the curriculum

(along with Fugazi, Margin Walker and G of 4, Anthrax)

  • lol @ the attempted crowd surf

  • one one would put up with this nowadays, more fool us.

  • live in leicester may 4 1990

  • 199... ?

  • I dig getting stoned and tunes as much or more than the next girl.

Love MBV but even at low volume this is too fucking loud.

Thank U and God Bless Anton Newcombe, I thiink his name is, BJTM rules and what not, etc.

  • the getting stoned part is good

  • i cant here the voice like wth lol sounds Cool

  • I'd love to see acoustic MBV

  • @reptiskate no doubt. though, at this point, id like to see any MBV

  • @reptiskate hell no

  • What if there was an electric shortage? What would these guys show look like?

  • Lol.

  • Pretty good. Bitch.

  • OK.Bitch.

  • when was this show?

  • early 90a

  • I can't believe I didn't wear etymotic earplugs to the concert. But I wonder how much difference it would've made.

  • it helped a little, but there was a point where the sound was so loud that i felt like my head was about to explode.

  • Comment removed

  • and u have a jaguar and u dont like them wtf

  • only sonic youth can do something like this. everithing is as seen on the album. genius.

  • lol this is My Bloody Valentine, not Sonic Youth, but they former is obviously influenced by the latter.

  • i think you don't catch the meaning.....i've just said that only two bands can make a sound like this and play it live. sonic and bloody. other bands can only make noise the most of the time.

  • true enough, true enough. Sorry for the misunderstanding, completely agree with the clarification.

  • I just want you two to know, that I really appreciate how you settled your disagreement (which, like most online disputes, was based on a mis communication) like adults, and didn't resort to a stupid flame war.

  • I disagree, but I respect your opinion.

  • Exactly! There's such little respect these days.

  • yeah fuck you

  • genius

  • im still confused as to how he made that weird whale noise sound in the studio version; obviously he did something where he could not do live. can anyone tell me?

  • actually he made the same things....each noise is reproduced live in the same way.

  • We all miss the 90's :( ... Thanks for sharing ;)

  • loveless one of the best albums of 90's

  • Loveless is one of the best albums of all time

  • Videos like these actually make me MISS the '90s...for a couple minutes or so. ;)

  • watch?v=jYy5v7bG2PQ

  • don't forget to put the guitars so loud you can barely hear the band. Love to see Coldplay try that one!

  • This is my favorite "vintage" clip on Youtube - I nearly exploded at the Roundhouse when they played this!!!

    Cheers!

  • Add the fender bass six with chorus sand digital delay compress the hell out of it and play through a old pev bass head to get a great shoegaze tone.

  • 'WHITE LIGHT',WHITE HEAT',...stunning

  • Nice! I'm a bassist, so I've been wondering how to get "that sound." I've been kicking around starting a '90s alt cover band; Jawbreaker (because nobody covers Jawbreaker it seems), Jesus and Mary Chain, Smashing Pumpkins, Sebadoh, Dinosaur jr, Guided By Voices...intended audience? All of my fellow aging Gen X'ers with disposable income to burn :) ...the beauty of being in a band when you've got a good day job? It becomes strictly fun :)

  • quizas sea por que la calidad de sonido es mala pero yo la escucho parecida a Pitures of you de the cure

  • favorite song by them...i miss the high pitched melody that fades in and out

  • I really can't believe i may have to chance to see them this summer in Paris!

They don't seem like they're going to play in Istanbul unfortunately:(

  • Is it even remotely possible to accurately cover MBV (curious, and asking as a musician who's kicked the idea around a few times, but honestly hasn't got the gus to try it) :)

  • OMG

    best band ever!

  • I agree!!!!!

  • It's Shoegaze, smart guy

  • You fail to understand Irish humour.

  • F**KING AWESOME.

  • ...simply,...great!!!!!

  • fuckin great..

  • this is my favorite song by,them maybe the best i know

  • listen to this song on a proper stero or headphones and you'll hear everything under all that distortion listening to it on youtube doesnt do it justice

  • this kind of music relaxes me. waaa. pure love... i can listen to this for hours and hours, i never get sick of it. my parents complain about it, though :/

  • Obviously, you should go back to listening to your Jack Johnson, we don't really care if you like it.

  • Hey, just because I don't favor distortion doesn't mean I like Jack Johnson. God forbid.

I just appreciate music where each instrument can be distinguished, and each musicians contributions are distinct. I like being able to hear the bassist do a little flourish, or to appreciate a fill by a drummer.

Here, it's just a wall of sound.

  • And we appreciate music where everything blends into on beautiful wall (or wave) of sound, including vocals. It is beauty, to us. What happened to live and let live?

  • Yep. It is a wall of sound. That's the point. That's what they're trying to achieve. Sonic rapture.

If you enjoy bands where you can distinguish everything independently, this is never going to be your band.

Just understand that this is how they intend to sound.

  • It's every musician working together to make one dense work of sound, it's beautiful.

  • well distortion can be an instrument in and of itself, though it must be said that it's an acquired taste, I agree that there riffs are something amazing by themselves, but I couldn't imagine a distortionless loveless, it adds so much to sound of the band, I'd say fuller, maybe richer. Anyway, most of it's indiscernible due to the poor quality of the footage, in the camera persons defense, it is really hard to capture live footage like this without losing some of the luster.

  • This is by far my favorite MBV song. I love it! It such a moving and amazing song. I love every bit of it. I play it for endless hours.

    God bless these people.

  • MBV were the Velvet Underground, early Pink Floyd and the Beatles all stirred together into one of the most delicously psychedelic bands of all time.

  • when was this performance?

  • 1990 London

  • Drunk driving? Fuck off and die!

  • let the anger go

    godbless

  • I love this. What is their best cd?? I want to buy it?? Whit what cd should I start listening to this band?? please help!!

  • get "loveless", it's the masterpiece, then the eps, then maybe "isn't anything"...

  • in someways i prefer isnt anything.

  • I can understand that, but I think "loveless" is the more accessible one for someone new into their sound...

  • yeah, i bought loveless before isnt anything

  • Loveless first, then Isn't Anything. Isn't anything you'll like more, but only once you've "accustomed" to them. They grow on you.

  • Actually i started listening to isnt anything first. I think its alot more accesible than loveless. I havn't started listening to that properly yet.

  • Radiohead is so bland. It doesn't have any emotion to offer. Besides, it's too "clean" for me. I don't see how anyone can listen to anything by Radiohead after a few doeses of MBV sound.

  • This song remembers me my teenage years so much!

    When was this filmed?

  • if you wanna hear the proper version look at my vids i got it with just the album picture MBV rule =] I Only Said is their best song i think

  • the true is taht radiohead was a shoegazing band like MBV, pale saints, revolver, etc, but radiohead cut off the stereotypes and focus on avant garden and experimentation sounds, thats the diference between MBV and radiohead but both are great band i like both! ONLY KIDS LIKE TO COMPARES BANDS, U BABIES HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO IDENTIFY THE SOUNDS AND ENJOY THE ART OF MAKING GOOD MUSIC!

  • MBV's best.

  • Calla

  • MBV released their last material BEFORE Radioheads first release-go work that one out?

  • What year is this vid from?????

  • LOL radiohead copy MBV? who would say such an inane thing? they're two totally different bands.

  • shame on you for even thinking that

  • It's not that Radiohead copies MBV, it's just that they have taken some elements from MBV's music, and it's good, Radiohead and MBV are both great bands, but Radiohead was influenced by MBV, you can see that if you analize the wall of sound of MBV and after you analize some of the songs from Radiohead, you will see, but it's just influences, every band has influences, and if you don't believe that just check wikipedia

  • You know, wikipedia probably isn't the best source, seeing as it's all user-generated content.

  • Pink to them.

  • MBV is insane!! Really, how could they do such a so perfect cd like this. ( but don't forget Isn't Anything, and the most of the EP's, actually, all they work is 4 or 5 stars. Well, maybe This is Your Bloody Valentine is a bit worse than the others.) -And one thing. Radiohead didn't copy MBV, the true is that shoegazing wasn't invented by them, they are only the best at this and they are one of the most important reference points in the alternative music world. Thx

  • lucky we have even this...plus no camcorder mic could withstand their famously loud shows..

  • Fuck, wrong post, hehe. Sorry... this was meant for another video, hah...

  • Saw them 3 times on this tour & each time was more awesome than the next. The epic chord (known as The Holocaust) was dragged out from 10-20 minutes depending on their mood. The audience went absolutely f**king mental every time. Legends. Hope they don't reform, remember them this way.

  • Though the audio quality is low, I'm still thankful that this video exists; it records an event that I'm very sad to have missed, and I'm hoping that I may someday be able to see live (an MBV concert). A gem for any serious MBV fans.

  • Guitarists used fx long before MBV or Radiohead. There was this one guy named Bo Diddly, for instance....

  • Perfect.

  • wow. this is a great find. this is why i love youtube.

also, somebody made a comment on radiohead copying MBV. get real. radiohead did not copy MBV. ugh...

  • I wouldn't say "copy", but the guitar sound in the chorus of Creep has always made me think of MBV, I'm sure there was some influence.

  • mbv loveless easily one of the greatest albums of the 90s...perfect melodies perfect guitar

  • Anyone know of any footage from First Avenue in Minneapolis Feb 92? That was my first club show I ever went to, with MBV Dinosaur Jr and Babes In Toyland.

  • how do you still have yr hearing after that show?

  • i dunno, lucky i guess...I wear earplugs now lots, when I was 14 i didn't really think of stuff like that.

I remember MBV playing one chord for 5-10 minutes, my first foray into 'shoegazing', it fucked with my head.

  • yeah they used to play one chord for anywhere up to 20 minutes on you made me realise

  • WOW. That's a pretty top 'first show'.

  • my fucking bloody vlentine shit! you all must die. you destroyed my world.....fantastic peace of bullshit noise. there's no suchthing as shoegazing..your noise is a melody in my ears...i lov u guys...

  • thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou etc.......amazing.

  • Man, look at Debbie's right hand. It hurts to watch her. She's probably fingerless today.

  • no video can ever mimic what actually seeing this live was like. totally immense and disorienting.

  • I want to go deaf to their music.

  • Me too.

  • speak up!

  • Thanks! I missed out on seeing them live back in the day. Would probably be my first stop if time machines existed. You just gave me a little glimpse of something amazing..

  • This is without a doubt the best clip on YouTube!!

  • urgh, how could anyone stagedive? well, back in the days, they thought "grunge" is all the same.

    great song

  • God, I want to make children with Bilinda so bad...

  • fuck yeah...these guys need to get back together, soon

  • i forward that

  • queria viver dentro de uma música assim

  • Who plays the high guitar notes on the chorus - Kevin or Bilinda ? Or is it sequenced and triggered ?

  • hmmm, not sure. it's kevin that's doing all the pitch bending though. and there could definitely be sequencing in there since I'm pretty sure kevin uses a BOSS loop pedal.

  • rare ! thanks for share !!

  • thanks. amazing.

  • Live My Bloody Valentine videos are soo hard to find, thanks for this.

  • thx thx thx 4 this live vd

  • One of my fav bands

  • WOW

  • Thanks for posting this. I saw the two Loveless shows in Detroit, on the 2nd one the did you made me realise for about 45 minutes, turned the audience into zombies. too bad there's not a decent bootleg out there

  • I have seen MBV several times in 1992, that was so noisy that i have many earing problems since... but nevermind, that was for history !

  • i love this, thank you so much

  • they don't have the synth part >_> even so - thanks so much for putting it up; my favourite MBV song by a long shot and it's awesome live

  • that's it. . .right there! thank you.

  • Would you mind emailing this to me? I'll gladly trade you one of my videos. Thanks.

  • Man!, is there anyway i can download this!. its too good to miss!

  • hahaha! this is a fucking kickass clip!!! thanks! - from Seoul, Korea

  • thanks so much.

  • radiohead doesnt try to immitate shoegazer richmondpick, in fact, they couldnt get a record deal because no one wanted to hire a non shoegazer band back then

  • Bilinda looks rad in this clip

  • i saw MBV back in 1992 in providence, rhode island my ears were ringing for almost a week.

  • Jajajajaja I believe you, poor of your ears

  • Debbie Googe is my hero!!!!!!!

  • love MBV, and have never seen anything like this - stagedivers and live audience; love it!! thank you for posting! :-)

  • My favourite live band! Show up the shoegazer copycats like Radiohead a treat.

  • easily the best band ever

  • OH my!!!!!!! I've never seen their live videos. Thanks!!

  • Sorry, I can't hear it; I'm still too deaf from attending the performance in New York in 1990 (ish).

  • WOW

  • I think I was at this show! Early 1990 I believe? A great and fantastically loud gig. Cheers for the clip.
