Thank you for this video. The presentation is certainly motivating. If that's how Ezra Taft Benson felt back in the 1960's, I can only imagine how disturbed he would be if he were alive to witness the current state of our government.
Total conformity in submission is hazardous, but people shouldn't be expected to oppose societies edicts as such opposition is difficult to maintain, and people are most rapidly attracted to the nonchalant. Such action isn't imminent to all people, but won't overlook anyone either. So it is important that those that don't want to comply with such whims, take assertion to them.

“The One Question," has accountability written all over it. The arc of human history is full of unaccountable “users” in an unbroken chain as contiguous as Jacob’s Ladder [Gen.28], permeating every strata of society. From the ruthless tyrant, squeezing treasures from the blood of his people, to the spineless masses who demanded that God, “Give us a king . . . [to] judge us and lead us and fight our battles!” [1Sam.8] they all want to believe their actions (or inactions) have no consequences.
It's absolutely mind boggling that a speech from Ezra Taft is still relevant today. About how we're moving towards socialism day-by-day. What's even more unnerving is how, as a society, we so easily forgotten what the cost of freedom truly is. What would Reagan do today? That is the question.
No American is worthy of citizenship in this great land who refuses to take an active interest in these important matters Now there's a man after my own heart... In America and around the world, a serious feeling of foreboding regarding the direction of government, economics, and popular culture seems unavoidable by even the most optimistic. Only in perpetuating economic freedom can our social, political, and religious liberties be preserved ...now go watch part 2!! What's next?
LIBERATED madoffs, bailed-out, too-"BIG"-to-fail orgs, and greedy ins cos were/are FREE to help, monetize, and cut the rates of their suffering customers, respectively.

Unfortunately freedom and liberty have once again become rhetoric, dogma, and political posturing. However, I will stand up for freedom and liberty no matter what the cost even if it means dying on my feet because I refuse to live on my knees. Thanks to this movement and the principles of prosperity I have completely changed my perspective on life and I will do everything I can to further the movement.
The truth must be told, over and over. Unfortunatly, truth has been reduced to a mere whisper, lost in the deafening waves of lies being presented as truth by the government and news media. Surrender is not an option, the truth must be told.
Sometimes It takes a little inspiration to know that the road less traveled, the one you have chosen to follow, is indeed a good thing. I was definitely inspired by this movie.
this video really opened my eyes on what it means to be an American. It showed me just how unique America is, and to try to the best of my ability, to defend the freedom's we still have. Great video. Five stars
This video makes me want to get everyone to watch it and then talk about it. I remembered Ezra Benson from his days as a church leader. I had no idea that he was such an inspirational world leader before that. I love his grasp of truth and the way he conveys it in words. WOW!
I love this country and the basis of its founding. What a proud and rich heritage we share. It pains my soul to see how far we have drifted from our intended path. It is certainly time for a drastic course correction.
Wow!! What great speeches! I feel very patriotic right now. I have been one of the lazy and am now crossing over to the informed side. I believe that as a people, we need to become spiritually, morally and economically strong.
It is so easy to forget the heritage that we have as citizens of this country. We are bombarded with the present media icons representing our leaders. What a refreshing reminder of the founders!
I appreciate the call to uphold the principles that lead to the preservation of each individual's God-given rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness that this video presents.
In a day where the victim mentality reigns supreme I find this video a great supplement for any one who believes in the values that are shared in this video. This attitude of disparity that has become so prevalent in our society today can be conquered if we choose to value and fight for freedom at all costs.
This group is exactly what our Nation needs at this time. I am shocked at how many people don't even realize what liberties they have lost over the years. Many don't have any idea what the Constitution contains. It's time to re-educate our people. Thank you!!!
There IS a point beyond which we must not advance, and this government took us past it several administrations ago. Obviously, weak-willed congressmen have been around longer than color talkies. It's time for principled people to push aside the nonsense, the junk science, the inverted morals and principles of a decadent society and corrupt government, and restore reason and sanity to our leadership.
A person can learn more about important aspects of US history and the state of affairs today in 10 minutes by watching this video than in 10 years attending our public schools.
More and more frequently as I watch the news I find myself thinking I need to find a country to live in that's less socialistic. As I catch myself having that thought I remember that our country is still amazing and it's up to me to bring to pass the changes/corrections to bring back the freedoms we have lost. This is why the FCP is amazing; By uniting my efforts with the project I can make a bigger difference more quickly.
Powerful and moving! I am beginning to see how scarcity and consumerism have negatively shaped my life. Thanks for organizing the project and the producer revolution. Viva John Galt!
and now even Alan Greenspan thinks nationalizing our banks might not be such a bad idea? We're farther down that road to socialism than the majority of the population realizes... Reading Atlas Shrugged today is almost like turning on the daily news!
Where our Constitution should stabilize us between Tyranny and Chaos, our complacency has allowed ever greater oscillations. These words from the last great swing toward the tyranny of the collective apply even more to the one we face. Can we wake up enough soon enough?
I propose we substitute the words "delegated force" when we see the word "government." Then we'd have the "delegated force bailout," and Washington would be "Delegated Force Headquarters." Or check out how it would change the day's news, like this quote from the SLTrib 2/10/09: "Good will between Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. and the Legislature appears to be quickly crumbling as the two branches of delegated force sparred Tuesday over how to tackle the coming year's budget."
This video teaches that freedom is a choice made by us as individuals, verses as a collective. I choose to be free, and to act in accordance with principles of freedom!
Truth is a major focus in order for anyone to fully grasp as well as appreciate our roots. We're not a country founded in government power, judicial control, or legislative manipulation. We've lost our way due to a loss of the basic understanding of where we began and where we were to go. To return to our grand experiment we must seek the truth of our history while returning to virtue and fully embracing our personal responsibility. Freedom is not easy yet is worth all the struggles.
Today it is imperative that we have men and women of wisdom, virtue, and foresight, who have studied long and deep. In order to be anything like our founders we must become as well studied. Also with knowledge there must be action.
It's self evident that people will perish from a lack of knowledge in so much our well being of life and prosperity is threaten by the masses of the uninformed. I applaud the notion that we must take action to preserve and cultivate wealth in todays society and link those together who are like minded in growing and protecting the wealth of society.
... this is a very different version of it, however. Perhaps by another composer? If anyone can tell me where to find this particular version, it'll be greatly appreciated.
The original by Goldsmith is excellent, but I'd love to get this one as well.
It is very disappointing that even some of the most educated and cultured among us feel that tyranny is necessary for a society or even a nation to prosper. Those who suffer from the inferiority complex should look at themselves and start striving for self-improvement or at least ask themselves how they can create value for others instead of playing the victim role and having the entitlement mentality.
Amazing that there was a time when people did the thinking for their ownselves. I think one of the greatest fears people have and don't admit to is to take responsibility for their choices and actions, so often we all prefer to defer or blame others. If freedom is the goal then a part of obtaining true freedom is held in the courage to be responsible and accountable for our own choices and actions! Use your own mind.
I recognize what the american founders' ideals represent not just for the american people but for the whole western culture - since the 1776 facts inspired the french and latin american revolutions as well - and of course many of the fundamental principles of the founders have been depleted since 1776 as many other (not so noble) topics have come to take place. Socialism has proved to be ineficient but there's still a lot of minor things which are responsible for threatening liberty.
Since those great men gave their speaches we have unfortunately not heeded their warning and compromised our way into some pretty deep trouble.I hope it isnt too late to turn it around.
Very good presentation. While I don't believe socialism is evil in its theory, it is definately self-defeating. If not checked, it will not only destroy itself, but drag down the true creators of this world. It is impossible for socialism to sustain itself. The only reason it has survived through the ages is because the cheaters or consumers, as the video identifies them, have suceeded in stealing from the value creators through oppressive government and mystical religions.
Socialism is indeed evil. The idea that wealth is a good that can be redistributed is an accurate way to summarize its philosophical premise. Wealth, however, is "value" as perceived in the free mind. To suggest that it can and/or ought to be redistributed is to suggest that the freedom of one's mind—in making value judgements—should be subject to government, which is nothing but delegated force. So, socialism uses force to nullify or negate the value choices of free men. This is evil.
This is very well put. In my way of thinking the redistribution of wealth is more equitable if it is done with honest business transactions. This is what the true patriots had in mind when they established our form of government. Any time government goes beyond its purpose of protection only and tries to manage business. it will inevitably destroy the value creativity of the human creatrure, and we will evolve into a non-productive socialistic society.
Redistribution if wealth is EVIL! If I want to redistribute MY OWN WEALTH, I, MYSELF, will redistribute it, and it is called CHARITY or GIVING. No one has the right to redistribute what I, myself have worked hard for.
You are correct when you say forced distribution of wealth is evil. That is why the income tax (penalry tax) must be eliminated. I think a better word to use than charity, according to my defintions, would be sharing. In other words, the exchange of wealth or values by the use of honest business. While charity may be needed in emergencies, if it is adopted as the way of distribution of wealth, it can evolve into socialism, and this is the evil that destroys a persons creativity.
The forefathers of this great nation studied the principles of classic thinkers on how societies ought to function and open economics should operate. These principles are fundamental truths that afford us our freedoms. Every citizen should know principles and regularly think about them. With freedom comes responsibility
Truth is powerful. Ronald Reagan and Ezra Taft Benson spoke truth. We have been in the throes of socialism for awhile and it's only to get worse. I've been anxious to do something but have not known how. I'm ready!
Just like the founders of our nation we too must declare our independence. We can only accomplish this by becoming conversant with the freedoms and means the founders left us to employ. Battling for right principles is a daily duty. We as free people need to stay foucused on the reality that many of our fellows are ignorant and happy to be so. We need to lead and guide them. If they won't follow we have to move forward anyway. If the time comes to take a side I will be on the side of right.
how have we strayed so far from what our founders envisioned....why do we trade freedom for "security" i for one am not willing to do nothing any longer, its time to get involved and its time to live by principle no matter what the cost...we miss you ronald reagan
the time is right. Obama is president. the people will listen to him and respond. the principles of the founding fathers need to be published. socialism must be identified as the enemy to freedom and prosperity.
If you are a Capitalist, you need to check you this link. It's time Americans take a stand and stop this death march towards Socialism. Socialism has been weighed and has been found wanting
I chose to come to America just over three years ago from Canada. I thought I came from a great nation, unmatched by any in the world. I had great pride and love of country for my home of birth and I suspect I always will hold a special place in my heart for the Great White North. However, over the past three years I have begun a learning quest of America, who She is and Her beginnings. I have a new home now and a new love, one which I dedicate the rest of my life to. This video confirms why.
It is so easy to sit back and watch our freedoms stripped from us. My father fought in two wars so that I could have a free country. Shall I sit and watch it slide into a socialist cesspool? I think it is time for me to stand up for what I believe.
Why are we so silent? Why have I never heard of Ezra Taft Benson? Why do I feel I'm the only one who's terrified of the complacency and the steady march to socialism?
The existence of this project gives me hope that all is not lost and there are still people who love liberty and who love this country.
As a mother of 3 I will prepare my children to embrace a free capitalist society as our founding fathers intended. The fight will be long and hard, but the liberalism of yesterday must end, our survival depends on it!
I have a speech I listen to all the time from Ronald Reagan when he was campaigning for Goldwater. If I was half as smart as that man, I would be running for every office I could possibly get into.
I have been actively and consciously converting my self from a socialist consumer into a capitalist producer for about the past two years; and, I look forward to working with others in this FreeCapitalist Project.
Thanks, Rick, for all the work you've done to make this cause popular.
I've seen this video a dozen times already but I'm reminded of something very important with each viewing. This is a message of peace, hope, and joy. It's the sort of thing you want to share with everyone you know because it has the power to change lives.
In this downward spiral we must first demand our freedoms to at least stop the free fall. The first step is to wake up and the second is to end the debt slavery. I am doing it FREE and you can too! Check out my profile for details.
I've watched both videos multiple times.....I am not an emotional person, but these videos almost bring me to tears, not tears of sadness, but tears of hope, tears of joy... these videos inspire me.
Reagan talked a good game but he was no free market capitalist! Government was much larger when he left office then when he entered. No politicians are going to help us gain more freedom. Even today's free market advocate in congress, Ron Paul, cannot do for us what we need to do ourselves. Reject government at all levels and start living your life for yourself.
I am still learning how to switch from consumer to producer. I love the cause of freedom, the Constitution of the United States and want to learn as much as possible about everything relating to these principles.
I'm 19 years old. It gives me chills to search back in history and listen to Reagan, Goldwater, Rand, Smith, Hamilton, and Limbaugh speak. Without prior knowledge beforehand, I write and speak the same truths as the men and women I admire so greatly.
Thank you, Rick and all of the rest of you who are bringing forth this work. I will help. That's one of the primary reasons I am attending law school. Please, those who are viewing this, become active in politics. I know we can make a difference, especially on the local level. Every small step, every sacrifice brings us one step closer to our cause of freedom.
"...dangers of complacency..." What's that quote about wondering why somebody doesn't do something, and then looking around and realizing you are that somebody?
The gentleman in the old B/W video (E.T.Benson?) warning of our walk down the road to socialism and the anti-spiritual decisions of the Supreme Court sounds like recent history. The warning about a rubber stamp congress, ...sounds like the headlines of the next two years.
I went to the RNC in September and left well shaken up about the state of a party that once stood for freedom. The party's leaders for one, but also the citizens that make it's core. They seem to think it non-consequential the philosophies of liberty that brought it it's most prosperous eras have been left drenched in champagne and standing outside of a slammed front door. These principles are over-reaching, however, and unavoidable. They will be faced.
Great video. It nails the two types of people I've know about just in life's experience. Producers and Consumers. I've got to learn to be the best producer I can. Never really liked consuming but the pride comes in creating something of value.
I loved the video. I am still trying to answer the question and understand the full magnitude of it in my life. I really feel that I can make a difference and am excited to do so!
The case rests. The only life worth living is the life that has liberty. In order to ensure Liberty, a constant struggle is required. The fight is ultimately fought on the battleground of philosophy. But in order to have the "will" to fight in the realm of philosophy (that is man's mind), one must have the "will" to live. So the only question one must ask themselves is "do I choose to live my life, or do I resign to death?"
This video is a call to action. Ronald Reagan's speech resonates inside me calling me to fight for freedom. Truly we must fight. Appeasement is the doctrine of the day. It will lead to destruction and slavery and I do not accept that as my life. I am free.
Sometimes when life beats you down, you think it is easier to not fight. I have experienced both sides, and know that the only choice to really live a life worth loving, I must stand up for freedom, and fight.
Our country's founders were an inspired group of men, who should be honored and revered by every US citizen. We should live to protect their precious work and to not tarnish their memory. Let us become proactive, alert, & aware of the situations involving our country as President Benson heeds. Let us struggle against those who wish to harm our Constitution and take away our freedoms. I will not surrender. WE should not surrender - this country is too wonderful to let slip through our fingers.
The Declaration of Independence can no longer be seen as the Universal cause because it has been clouded by legislation and judicial rants that have hindered the freedoms and liberties that is represents. Ezra Taft Benson spoke true that All is not well in the so-called prosperous wealthy and powerful America and the inferiority complex. Stand up for freedom no matter what the cost. It can help to save your soul and maybe your country.
Capitalists unite! Truth, freedom, and independence have almost dissipated from public view. The veil of deception has been placed deceivingly over our eyes. It is within our right and our duty to restore the sacred principles our nation was founded upon. Never before has it been more important to arm ourselves with knowledge and truth.
Voices from the past stir my heart and my mind. Decades gone and these voices of truth quake through the darkness that surrounds me. As long as I can remember, I have felt the tremor of what is wrong with my life and the world around me Yet I have done nothing. How far will I let things slide? It is up to each of us to take action in our own lives. Im taking action today; I will lay dormant no longer!
There are far and few between moments that you come upon in life called ah ha moments when speaking of prosperity and this for me is one of those moments. I too like many on this message board share the thanks in this movement and way of life. I'm willing to "follow in the footsteps" by the principles outlined. Freedom, love and better life here forward.
I am thankful for this project. This video hits the nail on the head. For as long as I can remember I have felt as if something was wrong with the world. It became more apparent as I got older. I now know a great part of my purpose in life is to help push this cause forward. Principles govern the universe, they are like a compass that you can chart a course through life with. It is my goal to wake up anyone and everyone that I can to these truths. Thank you to everybody that is involved.
We need more men like Ronald Regan and Ezra Taft Benson who will take a stand for what is right. I am excited to be on board and help make a difference.
It seems so many have given up on America. I for one have great hopes for our future and the future of my children. The Free Capitalist is not giving up, but fighting to secure our freedoms. "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance" ---Thomas Jefferson
In the past I have been one of those individuals standing in the middle of the road being hit by traffic going both ways. I have now layed all I have on the alter, am becoming involved and want to make a difference. Thanks for lighting a torch for freedom!
An impressive introduction. I'm inspired by the amount of work you have done for the cause of capitalism the FreeCapitalist Project, the Producer Revolution, the FreeCapitalist Daily, the American Founders University, and so on... thanks.
"Stand up for freedom, no matter what the cost. It can help to save your soul, and maybe your country." Ezra T. Benson
A great reminder from a wise man that as we decide which side of the question we are on, our primary purpose in acting upon that decision is our own well-being - not our country or any other collective. Jingoistic politicians' rhetoric notwithstanding, national "freedom" is a consequence of individual liberty, not the converse.
The founding fathers initiated the pattern for Liberty and Freedom for a future generation to complete... We are that generation. And in this vain we must be willing to sacrifice as they were. We have not heard a President rally for freedom so passionately since Ronald Reagan, and now we find ourselves with a President on the fast track to socialism. We have no time for complacency. Which side will we find ourselves on.
Very moving. As I watched Ezra Taft Benson and Ronald Reagan speak, I almost had tears come to my eyes. It was a great reminder to "Stand up for freedom, no matter what the cost...It can help to save your soul-and maybe your country. -Ezra Taft Benson
It's amazing how the answer to this one question is reflected in EVERYTHING we do in life. By simply being aware of the question, and of the answer that I prefer to be able to give to the question, I find myself more free in everything. From something as simple as dealing with an unruly 2 year old to something as complex as dealing with my unruly self, I find that the choice to be free affects all of my actions.
Inspiring, thought provoking... I found Ezra's warning of the evils of socialism particularly important. Living in a society where some would choose to live on their knees is a scary thought. Give up my freedom?!?!?! Guess you can just call me a dead man walking because I refuse to go to my knees... It never ceases to amaze me at how the socialists have people so well trained to not even question what is happening to them. I guess ignorance really is bliss...
Ezra taft bensons speech is timeless till the time we chose freedom and capitalism , imagine how Ezra taft benson would feel if he saw what is happening today in America. "We are heading towards socialism". You have a choice , speek loud , finish the work of the founders , We have the Decleration of Independance and the Constitution on our side !
Freedom is a choice, and that choice is one for which most people "lack all conviction." This video is inspiring because it reminds us that we must constantly choose freedom over security and scarcity. This is our rendezvous with destiny.
This video, if shared with others seeking truth and individual freedom, will be encouraged to begin (or continue) a path of personal liberty, and individual independent responsibility!
Excellent video, I loved the Regan clips. My favorite part is when Ezra T. Benson calls socialism soul destroying. I believe it will destroy you because you have to believe a lie in order to live it. You start to value things over people.
Ezra Taft Benson's speech really makes you worry about what our world will be like in 10 or 20 yrs. I fear for the future of our country. I hope I can be a help in bettering this country for my children.
I choose to die on my feet rather than live on my knees if it so happens to come to it. I choose to answer life's one question in the affirmative. I pray for the strength to have eternal vigilance.

It is very disappointing that even some of the most educated and cultured among us feel that tyranny is necessary for a society or even a nation to prosper. Those who suffer from the inferiority complex should look at themselves and start striving for self-improvement or at least ask themselves how they can create value for others instead of playing the victim role and having the entitlement mentality.
deezel9 3 years ago
Amazing that there was a time when people did the thinking for their ownselves. I think one of the greatest fears people have and don't admit to is to take responsibility for their choices and actions, so often we all prefer to defer or blame others. If freedom is the goal then a part of obtaining true freedom is held in the courage to be responsible and accountable for our own choices and actions! Use your own mind.
Great video. Well done!

Very good presentation. While I don't believe socialism is evil in its theory, it is definately self-defeating. If not checked, it will not only destroy itself, but drag down the true creators of this world. It is impossible for socialism to sustain itself. The only reason it has survived through the ages is because the cheaters or consumers, as the video identifies them, have suceeded in stealing from the value creators through oppressive government and mystical religions.
cclowc 3 years ago
Socialism is indeed evil. The idea that wealth is a good that can be redistributed is an accurate way to summarize its philosophical premise. Wealth, however, is "value" as perceived in the free mind. To suggest that it can and/or ought to be redistributed is to suggest that the freedom of one's mind—in making value judgements—should be subject to government, which is nothing but delegated force. So, socialism uses force to nullify or negate the value choices of free men. This is evil.
rkoerber 3 years ago
This is very well put. In my way of thinking the redistribution of wealth is more equitable if it is done with honest business transactions. This is what the true patriots had in mind when they established our form of government. Any time government goes beyond its purpose of protection only and tries to manage business. it will inevitably destroy the value creativity of the human creatrure, and we will evolve into a non-productive socialistic society.
cclowc 3 years ago
Redistribution if wealth is EVIL! If I want to redistribute MY OWN WEALTH, I, MYSELF, will redistribute it, and it is called CHARITY or GIVING. No one has the right to redistribute what I, myself have worked hard for.
lindyk9 3 years ago
You are correct when you say forced distribution of wealth is evil. That is why the income tax (penalry tax) must be eliminated. I think a better word to use than charity, according to my defintions, would be sharing. In other words, the exchange of wealth or values by the use of honest business. While charity may be needed in emergencies, if it is adopted as the way of distribution of wealth, it can evolve into socialism, and this is the evil that destroys a persons creativity.

Reagan talked a good game but he was no free market capitalist! Government was much larger when he left office then when he entered. No politicians are going to help us gain more freedom.
