Jack begged Heath not to do the movie. He told him outright that the part would kill him. After the movie was finshed and Heath went home to his wife there were imediate problems. She left him terrified. SHE SAID THAT HE REALLY THOUGHT THAT HE WAS THE JOKER! She and Heaths family tried to help him. He tried to get hold of himself through self medication. And that is what killed him.

Heath Ledger immersed himself in the mind of a psycho when playing the joker, he got in so deep he went to Jack Nicholson for advice and he told him not to go in too deep. The stress of locking himself away for a month & 2 hrs sleep a night took it's toll on ledger leading to his death. The joker is his greatest character but sadly he had to give up a lot to achieve perfection.
And remember, Nicholsons Joker might seem like a wuss for not fighting much. But its pretty stupid to blame him for that. Fighting has to be IN the script for the actor to do so.

Nicholson played the joker he was told to in the script which was a more kiddy comical one. Ledger was told to play the original real joker. You can't compare the two. Both were excellent @ what they were told to do. When I first saw this back then I thought he warned Heath about the toll of acting in a movie as the joker. Then thought it was about drugs, but it now says on IMDb that Jack says he said "I warned 'em" not "him" about a sleeping pill Jack had taken. It's hard to figure out. But yes, the laughter is kind of disturbing here.

Well its true Ledger has had a short life but going back to Matt damon and Jack Black they are pretty young themselves. Don't get me wrong Heath Ledger was a good actor- but out of all of Heath Ledger's movies.. the only role he did OUTSTANDING in was the Joker. Jack Nicholson had one or two flops but over the decades he did a lot more outstanding performances than Ledger. You can't compare them. Jack begged Heath not to do the movie. He told him outright that the part would kill him. After the movie was finshed and Heath went home to his wife there were imediate problems. She left him terrified. SHE SAID THAT HE REALLY THOUGHT THAT HE WAS THE JOKER! She and Heaths family tried to help him. He tried to get hold of himself through self medication. And that is what killed him.

Heath Ledger immersed himself in the mind of a psycho when playing the joker, he got in so deep he went to Jack Nicholson for advice and he told him not to go in too deep. The stress of locking himself away for a month & 2 hrs sleep a night took it's toll on ledger leading to his death. The joker is his greatest character but sadly he had to give up a lot to achieve perfection.

Nicholson played the joker he was told to in the script which was a more kiddy comical one. Ledger was told to play the original real joker. You can't compare the two. Both were excellent @ what they were told to do. Though it's a shame Ledger immersed himself too deep in the joker leading to psychological problems from the lack of sleep and then those sleeping pills came into the equation. Nicholson had warned him, shame he didn't heed it.

this was not about the role of joker. this was about of his prescription drug use. Jack told heath to be careful with them because frankly jack took a prescription drug and literally almost drove off a cliff. he was warning ledger about the use of prescription drugs. Not the a joker curse role. get the story straight people..

I just read about 5 reports and articles about what Jack said. He warned him of the role being demanding, he warned him of the pills, he did all that. He was quoted as saying "I told him so...". What you want him to say, if he told him, he told him. Great movie either way. Jack woulda done well too though lol

i do bealive that jack was being a bit cold hearted by his comment there. jacks ""advise"" might have been for ledger to not take the role but i do bealive it might have been for selfish reasons if or anything. Now saying this, i may be wronge but it is what i think.

People seriously better not have taken this seriously. Only an idiot would. Why would Nicholson make a joke about something serious like a death? He may be crazy at times, but he isn't heartless. Nicholson was very upset that Ledger killed himself and he really did look sad after hearing the news. Generally speaking, Nick warned him not to take the character too far which he did (no disrespect Mr. Ledger R.I.P). So yeah, think before you make stupid asumptions. Nicholson rules.
