bad luck, getting shit real parents. and then a horror of an adoptive mother.
it's very hard to tell if a child is being beaten. the family will always try to hide it. and even the child. if the family are poor, and have other social issues, then social services are more likely to notice. and the school.
but it can happen in households where the child has every other need met. rich and what look like respectable parents. in these situations, the parents have the power in society. no one will suspect them of being abusive.
In the song, a member of her family kills Alyssa, after hitting her too hard... she was getting battered at home, by her mum or dad. The dad of Alyssa's new friend is saying, Alyssa died because no one would do anything to stop the abuse. He feels he should have reported the abuse, that his daughter knew about. but it was too late. that's the message of the song. and probably it' the same with the video.

Sometimes a child can see things adults don't see or outright ignore and if more children were like the girl in this song the world would be a better place. If you go to the Childhelp website (it won't let me post a link here, google childhelp) and called the hotline number that they would talk to you about how you feel now. They could also direct you to someplace that could talk to you about this more often. You aren't alone. People want to help you. Give them a call.

I almost died of child abuse... I live with my grand parents... I am 11 and it ended 3 years ago. I now live in a place where every one at school picks on me and hates me and I only have a few friends. If it were easy to explain what had happened to me they might stop. I reported it later and they investigated it and I don't know if anything happened. I don't want to have anything to do with her. If I see anymore child abuse I am reporting straight away.

A CHILD SAID TO HIS MOMMY "I COLORED YOUR SHEETS WITH LIPSTICK". i'm starting to shed a few tearsbut for sme reason i think it's good that Alyssa died because well she doesn't have to go through anymore pain...............if you lost a friend because of child abuse be thankful they aren't in anymore pain, and just think that one day you'll be able to see them again............=)

@coolkoolaids1 don't be thankful! it should have been stopped. yeah great they aren't in pain, but if you knew your friend was being hurt and didn't say something then you shouldn't be thankful. not reporting abuse is almost as bad as abusing that's why these kinds of songs and videos are made, so that people will realize they have to do something or they are helping in the lose of life

I had a friend die because of child abuse and I do not want anyone to have to deal with the pain of abuse like my friend... And I don't want anyone to have to go through the loss of someone because of abuse!!! It must stop!!!!!!! The pain is too much... Does anyone have any ideas on how to help put a stop to abuse?? Help save the children of today and those of you with a good life but keep wanting more and more just be thankful that you're not being beaten to death!

@live2dance2497 My friend stepped or stamped on her sons head years ago. I didn't say anything because I caught between a rock and a hard place. I should have reported it at the time. I reported it later and they investigated it and I don't know if anything happened. I don't want to have anything to do with her. If I see anymore child abuse I am reporting straight away.
