concerning the STG44 vs Kalashnikov design debate:

if you actually own either of these assault rifles and disassemble them together you will see that the similarities are not any closer than any other two assault rifles. both use gas piston blowback (so does EVERY selective fire rifle) and similar trigger assemblies but otherwise you are looking at two different designs. the AK47 followed the experimental AK46 which is more similar to the experimental Bulkin AB46 than any other predecessors.

Well don't forget that the Russian AK-47 was majorly influenced by the very first assault rifle; The STG.44 (sturmgewehr 1944) meaning "Stormrifle" so don't give the Russians all the credit for this gun because without the Nazi's there wouldn't be half of the technology we have today.

A 22 can be easily suppressed, is easy to handle and the ammo is inexpensive. With a 22 it is a very simple matter to kill a heavily armed military person or guard and simply take their weapon.

A really sharp combat knife is practical in many situations. Completely silent kills, then take your opponents weapon.

Martial arts trumps weapons in most situations. Silent and deadly.

By far the best American made weapon is the M14. Pack the same punch as the AK47 but its accurate to longer ranges and almost as reliable.

@Dgl44 errr... where do you get your facts? THe m14 isn't more reliable than an AK-47, if you burried it in dirt than it's not going to fire like an AK-47. And the AK holds less of a kick than an M14 - due to the design. And the M14 carries the 7.62x51mm, not the 39 - so You're comparing an assalt rifle to a battle rifle - smooth. WHat's nex? Barret .50 bmg is more powerful than the 30-06?

I know it has more recoil but it's also more accurate on semi auto. And sorry I didn't know about the caliber. I just knew that they were both chambered in 7.62. So sorry on that one.
