  • i watched the gameplay video and almost puked, just searched for this game so i could warn you ... this game looks like a total fail, its like they rushed making it .. also it looks like its gonna fail like the eragon video game, which sucked arse, more than the movie even.

  • Shitty movie, shitty game

  • i dont even play video games and i would totally play that!

  • Avatar is already bigger than star wars XD

just saying, Star wars sucked, Star Trek sucked... the only good part about star wars was the police force of the galaxy :P the rest of it was shitty sword fighting and politics, if I wanted diplomatic resolution I'd be watching the news, fags!!!

  • Great movie!!! I watch it twice here: WATCH MEDIA SITE dot C O /\/\

  • "AVATAR has knocked amazing STAR WARS "--> Movies999. CO/V\

  • Comment removed

  • You may be able to watch this incredible video at all these free spamware sites but watching such an epic movie on a little computer screen while the site installs some macros onto your computer is stupid. Spend the money- see it in Imax 3d- It's worth it

  • OMG FUCKING SPAM, may you all die in your sleep. Avatar was an amazing film :). EPIC.

  • i watched this in the theater, but i wanted to watch it again at home it was so good!

just google "quick movie hub" and watch new releases online there

  • yeah thats if u want to be forced to do some stupid survery that will attack u with texts charging u $2 a text

  • how fucked would it be to play a game with 3d glasses!?!?!!? especially if its a thriller were things jump out at u, hot damn i just exploded in my pants!!!

  • he is absolutely correct on the statement that both the game and the movie are good without 3D, however 3D is more of the icing on the cake.

GREAT movie and an awesome game. I enjoy both and will without a doubt by the DVD when ever it comes out.

  • Is the video game any good?

  • i saw it today in 3D :P

  • Oh mY god! That movie Avatar is amazing. Best movie which I saw in 3d yesterday

  • me too.

  • Oh and for all those who think James Cameron was unoriginal in his movie, he made the movie up 10 years before he even started to direct it, so any movies that came out between that time don't count.

  • Watch Avatar at the cinima, not online, it's a lot of a fuck better.

  • Download FREE Games @ X-LEECh . COM

  • do you create your own player in this game?

  • all comments here are spam!!! fuckers!!

  • It's cooler to watch the movie in theatres =D

  • NOOOOOOOOOO NOT UBISOFT!!!! ubisoft=Fail with capital F

  • After Ubisoft's Far Cry 2

    FUCK IT!!

  • orly

  • is the first guy wearing makeup? :P

  • This Movie Rocks !!!

  • i only just saw that movie today

  • When you want free roam. Leave it to Ubisoft :). After the outstanding fallout 3 im getting a good vibe from this.

  • @cod5ki11er fallout 3 was bethesda... and most games made by ubisoft are pretty linear. Tomclancy, prince of persia, the only exception i can think of is assassins creed. But yes, my testicles are tingling at the thought of this game too.

  • one question guys...

does any1 knows whter you can play the quest in a multiplayer mode or only pvp?

    please let me know

    greets

  • if anyone is thinking of getting this game add me on xbox live (jaffaj4k3) and i will send you a free bonus code to get some armor

  • UBISOFT is great. But wat happened to BUNGIE?

  • yeh ikno all they seem tobe doing is concentrating on halo and halo suks but i used to love it bak in its day but they just need to end dat shit cuz its just getting boring (been ther done that) but still bungie shud bring new games. peace

  • is that dude wearing eyeliner?

  • @2014995

THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING! XDD I was like "God, I can't stop staring at his eyes. Does he have some form of makeup on or something...?"

  • 1:43 through 1:52 is right on. truthfully i thinks it safe to say that, thats one or even the only reason gamers and movie watchers all over the world play games and watch movies not only for the entertainment but also for the feeling of being able to escape to a world that you can control.... well you know, as far as the story goes.

  • will this be open world?

  • yes

  • The helicopter looks like it was taken directly from "TimeShift"

  • it looks like its taken from every game you could even say teh choppers from halo 3 which was released earlier than time shift and even the helis from terminator which the movie director directed...

  • he is talking about that the game world story is not the same as the one in the movie, not about being pioneers in creating mithical worlds...heh..and Ubisoft is just amazing...

  • I like Ubisoft too. One day I wish to join that company and be a programmer or game designer, +1

  • I absolutely hate Ubisoft.

  • " what makes Avatar so exicting is that we've created a whole new world". What? So we've never seen movies set in another world before? Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Narnia etc. don't count?

  • lol for LotR and Narnia they did not create a new world - they adapted books written decades ago

  • true. but I still don't see how it makes Avatar so special. I mean, it still looks epic! but James Cameron hasen't done anything to new for the story or setting.

  • @MythicDude I think he doesn't mean that Cameron created the world of the movie for the very first time, he just means that he made it.... of here is a part of advertising and promotion but it's not lye...

  • He wrote the story 14 years ago. The conceptual work was done by two teams, one from Ubisoft, and one from whatever vendor or personal crew James is using. A lot of the conceptual work for the movie came from James' own ideas, so any similarities in that respect are likely coincidental. The Navi' possess distinct differences from the night elves of warcraft lore, in that they resemble felines and other animalia...although his scifi universe is VERY similar to many that already exist.

  • Must say I'm not very impressed with what they have so far. They'll have to create a really ground breaking movie to impress me

  • Will HAL be there? What about Frodo. Will there be dwarfs and trolls fighting star ship troopers. I just feel this has the design sense of Peter Griffin directing his "chick movie". One thing I didnt see were Transformers and sense they put everything else in this gumbo why didn't they go all out. I hope Predator shows up and maybe Raptors its been about two weeks sense we have seen any Raptors besides T-Rex needs a break he was in like 5 movies last year and is risking overexpose.

  • I am one who is easily impressed but I find what I see from this movie hard not to pick apart. Also I think the game producer is jumping the gun with the star wars comparison. Not saying it wont be a good movie I just know when I watch it I will feel like I'm watching actions scenes spliced together from everything else from sci fi and fantasy.

  • The design in this movie is a direct rip off of other games and movies with very little attempt to make it original. It's one thing to use inspiration to create something similar and it is another to copy-paste. To staple a tail on a night elf is and call it something else is a slap in the face. The vehicles have been recycled many times from unreal tournament to the Incredibles also the mech from the matrix (one could argue was derived from Aliens {and yes one can plagiarize ones self}).

  • Well, theres the problem!

    This video has copy trolls.

You can normally get rid of them by not replying to them and making them THINK they're right.

    **Remember!***

    Dont feed the trolls!

    ***Or tap the glass***

    ****Or comment on this****

  • Guys stop moaning about the goddamn vehicles! For all you know he could have come up with the vehicle sketches long before any hornet sketches were drawn up. Or even the warthog! I think it looks fantastic personally

  • 0:43 He has the same last name as me!

  • Looks a bit like halo. from the lil drawings

  • I hope these guys are serious about putting together a decent sci-fi fantasy franchise. We haven't had anything mind shattering since The 1st Matrix. Sci-fi fans are long overdue !!!!

  • I thought the 2nd matrix was AMAZING. The 3rd one sucked though

  • land before time?!?!?!

  • 1:27 = Hornets And More Dinosaurs. LOL

  • James Cameron came up with the script and creature design 14 years ago you tool.

LMFAO at how stupid the internet generation has become!!

  • anyone know when this is coming out?

  • Nov. 24 movie Dec. 18

  • thank you billy joel look alike

  • 1:47 kinda reminds me of that rig from aliens

  • shut up

  • what th fuck are you on about mate?

  • hey i totally agree with you

  • sitchin's theory on creation is actually quite interesting. i heard it was fake and the sumerian tablets he based his research off of were hoaxes though.

  • u think too deepy about something that is merlely made to entertain

  • no one here is interested in your bullshit. go and annoy someone who might actually believe it

  • So, since its like star wars and the game is like a prequel to the movie, the game must be awful

  • im not sure about the game, but the movie is epic

  • yes

  • i dont like the mech designs... there are better references out there for the production team to pull from and make something great...

  • right?

  • piece of 230 million shit.

  • People have been creating " whole new worlds" for a really long time lol

  • looks like so it reminds me of halo.

    dunno why.

and i loved halo cause of the look.

  • looks like crap

  • how can you say that we saw practically nothing revealing. no trailor, only pics.

  • video games based on movies=crap

  • well i saw the trailor and it looks good. all of the videogames followed the events of the movie. this one doesnt, they can do whatever they want without worrying of trailin 'off topic'

  • eh most movie games dont follow the exact story line of the movies otherwise theyd be an hour long. Superman returns video game had bizarro, metallo, etc etc. same with the hulk game, batman begins game.

  • star wars battlefront 2 was really good (didnt play the first one )

  • You Idiots. You can't just choose whatever game company you want to make your game. "Oh why didn't they choose crytek or bethesda" WTF you can't touch crytek or bethesda. they have bigger and better plans than this shit...

  • well assians creed was good by ubisoft ....but there new stuff is look like shit they need to put more time in to games.... like assians creed.. i dont agree with the game idea its a waste of your money ... now call duty modern warfare 2 is worth your money

  • UbiSoft sucks big time. You got a problem with a game by them, just try and get help. You have a suggestion or complaint, you can't contact them worth a crap. Worst game company customer relations there is. You can bet, I'm not buying it no matter how good it looks. Just 'cause it's by UbiSoft. They should have gone with Bethesda (Fallout 3, ES: Oblivion) or Ascalon from Germany (Sacred 2). They are right there if you have problem. UbiSoft sucks!!!!

  • From all the game development studios out there they chose Ubioft. Motherfucking Ubisoft. Why not the awesome CryTek from Germany or Capcom? I do not understand it.

  • because capcom makes shitty looking games

  • by what i said about them being crap meen all they can do are arcade type games were you get a letter grade after beating a mission and getting points

  • i bet the fat guy is talking a load of shit to get more cash in his wallet

  • So what? This game is just s glorified commercial for the movie? I don't get it, whats the fucking point of making a "Video game" teaser to a movie?

  • thats the point all movies based games are glorafide ads for the movie thats why they suck ther not ment to be real game its just a cash in

  • I hate this jiggly fat fuck Jon Landau. He has skewered the potential of so many possibly great movies in his career, in fact that list is longer than the ones he's produced. I find it a miracle that the Avatar film even got made with this bumbling fucking idiot controlling the money. But that's probably thanks to the creative inertia that Jim Cameron commands. Anyway, back to my story: FUCK JON LANDAU, FUCK THAT FAT FUCKING WORTHLESS HOLLYWOOD DOLT, FUCK HIM FUCK HIM FUCK HIM. K, I feel better.

  • I saw the 15 minute trailer at my local Imax. I've also read "Call Me Joe". There is a vaguely passing resemblance in the broad concept, but that's about it. I think the same issue came up when "Independence Day" was accused of using the viral upload idea from 3001:Final Odyssey.

Long story short, Avatar is a unique story. The trailers on the net are 1/100th the effect of seeing it on Imax. I think one day people are going to look at it as milestone movie like Star Wars and Matrix are now.

  • I saw the 15 minute trailer at my local IMAX and i agree,

the experience in the theatre with the 3d and imax, is soooo many tiems more overwhelming than a youtube trailer

  • fuck AVATAR's game... i wanna STARCRAFT 2 !!!

  • er... ok. Go buy Starcraft 2 and don't buy Avatar. Seems like a pretty obvious course of action to me.

  • every movie or book has copied some other movie or book always.

  • what about the first movie or book :P

  • Well obviously...nothing is ever totally original. We're humans not gods we can't create something we don't know about from somewhere else haha.

  • looks like a good game:)

  • one of the trailers i watched looked to much like halo like those hover craft (Hornets/Hawks) and the bigger ones could be pelicans/vultures and those walking things are cyclops if you ever played halo wars dude can be creative and make his own stuff Bungie would be pissed knowing the might make a halo movie.

  • cant not can after dude

  • this could actually be a movie-game thats good.

  • they copied halo vehicles

  • There's no such thing as "American anime". America rips off of Japan for their anime and dub it (majority of the dubs are just terrible). Avatar is a very well developed american cartoon using Chinese art of fighting, not an anime.

  • actually yes there it is lol its just not that good (well except for teen titans) and some bad major dubs are pokemon and bakugan

  • ...Avatar is ten times superior to Teen Titans, your tastes are god-awful.

  • We're talking about dubs you retard. No one said anything about Teen Titans being better than Avatar. alston2real is agreeing with me that dubs are terrible.

  • wow need to read better i wasnt even talking about that and i know avatar is going to be better i'm talking about dubs lmao but its alright everyone makes mistakes

  • Teen Titans is not an anime, so it's not really dubbed. They're just sponsored by those two japanese singers (forgot their names...). The reason why dubs sounds terrible is because the Japanese made their series to fit their language. English can't express some things like Japanese can and same the other way around. I think that's why dubs are just terrible.

  • it usses the western style of drawing and it was drawn in japan before it was sent to america to be colored and edited and even though english languages sound better (i.e. dragonball Z ) they just couldnlt get the feel of it as the japan version lol

  • Some of you shitheads should actually watch the Last Airbender cartoon before writing it off as gaty or crap. It's far superior to most western animations, from movie to television.

  • everyone's seen the avatar the last airbender its was so popular the demand that when it was pulled form being cancelled after the big strike

  • AVATAR ISNT AN ANIME YOU IDIOT

  • Ok, People Avatar : The Last Airbender is a popular american anime, So it is an anime!

  • it was based off of a series of books from what i have heard

  • It might be a pretty good movie. But if you have ever read a story called "Call me Joe" by Poul Anderson, you might agree that perhaps James Cameron has read it too. I am sure Cameron wouldn't admit to ripping off Anderson's story...but there are a couple of MAJOR plot devices that are the same. Perhaps Cameron would say "I "riffed off" the story". It wouldn't be the first time Cameron has "riffed off" another writer. Harlan Ellison raised the bullshit flag on "The Terminator".

  • maybe but he was talking about in a conference that he had this story for about 10-15 years and wanted to create it in an earlier time he just couldn't get the technology so he had it held for quite some time and everyone get inspiration from different stories and stuff i got a lot of inspiration from my game called Xiyon i'm creating but i can see some of the plots you mean

  • No matter what you write, it will remind someone of something they read before. For two reasons:

1: Stories are universal. All fiction follows the same principles, from the oldest tribal myth to the latest Hollywood movie, stories are allegories of human life. If people cannot relate to a story they will not like it.

2: The human brain is wired to look for similarities in things. That's why you see familiar shapes in the clouds, and say "This movie is like (insert)"

  • In Anderson's story, from 1957, the main character is Anglesey, a paraplegic living on a space station orbiting Jupiter. His job is to interface with a computer that enhances his ability to establish a telepathic connection with "Joe" , a creature designed to survive on Jupiter. Anglesey, controls "Joe" and is, essentially, inhabiting the creature's body. Anglesey, slowly BECOMES "Joe", refusing to return his conciousness to his crippled body in favor of Joe's healthy one.

  • True, immitation can be the sincerest form of flattery, but if credit isn't given where it's due, it could be the sincerest form of plagiarism. Some ideas and concepts are NOT so universal. I am not saying that Cameron couldn't have come up with that important plot device on his own. Maybe he did. Anyway, I am sure that "Avatar" will be very different from "Call Me Joe", but I am saying that Cameron may have been inspired by Anderson's story and if so, should credit him for inspiring him.

  • Maybe he came up with the idea all on his own cause he's never even heard/seen Anderson's work. Ever think about that? Hell, I've written short stories that followed a plot line I hadn't even seen/heard of until AFTER the first hundred pages were written. Hell, Lord of the Rings was a knock off OF a knock off; for fuck sake people. NO idea at this point in human history is truely original, get over it!

  • you're right, no words, you're right

  • Do you even know what I am talking about?

Cameron said he got the idea for Avatar from "every single science fiction book I read as a kid"...it would be silly for you to believe he had never heard of Anderson's work.

Cameron had certainly heard of Harlan Ellison's work when he made "The Terminator"...Harlan raised the bullshit flag and the end credits were CHANGED to acknowledge his work.

Cameron is a good director, but some of his screenplays are suspect.

    Get over THAT, fanboy.

  • ROFL, fanboy... can't say I've ever been called that before. As far as *Cameron said he got the idea for Avatar from "every single science fiction book I read as a kid"...* is, who's to say he WON'T have acknowledgements in the credits. It ain't even out yet brah, so chill out. 'Sides, what's it to you personally? You lose NOTHING, so you have, in -my- opinion, no right to throw a bitch fit. Deal... with... it.

  • I never pitched a bitch-fit. I merely said it's possible that Cameron lifted an idea or two from an old story from Poul Anderson. Did he? How the hell would I know? When I read the about Avatar's basic plot, my first thought was "Call Me Joe". You see, the protagonists from both stories are crippled due to occupational injuries, use a scientifically created life-form as an "avatar" to explore another planet and then have to choose between the "avatar" or returning to their crippled bodies.

  • Those similarities are pretty unique. I am sure there have been plenty of stories that depict the idea of the living, physical avatar but I can only name one other than Cameron's story (but I am sure someone will enlighten me). I am sure there are other depictions, but I am sure none will be so alike as the two stories we are discussing. Mostly, the idea has been used a lot to depict a person in the physical world immersing themselves in a virtual world...

What does it all mean? ...Nothing.

  • I heard Cameron even based some parts of the plot on Edgar Rise Boroughs' book about John Carter. And it may be true as it has vague allusions to his books. However these are very vague. So I think the movie will for the most part have an original plot.

  • most the 3d material and even the ets appears to be stolen from other scifi movies and games.

  • and not only that, there are MAJOR plot similarities. I am not talking about broad generalizations or concepts. I am talking about specific plot devices and situations. If Anderson were still alive, he might have a pretty strong legal case.

Read the story. Have you done that? If not, maybe you ought to read it before you dismiss the possibility that Cameron has also read it and lifted some important elements from it. And don't just google the plot. Read the actual story.

  • PS, I'll probably get around to it, seeing as I don't even watch the Idiot Box(IE TV) I've read somewhere in the neighorhood of 100,000 pages of manuscript in the last couple years alone. A book a day for me isn't odd at all. Hell, I forgo SLEEP so I can read more.

As for dismissing the possibility he took the idea, I NEVER DID! I merely threw out the POSSABILTY that he did in fact come up with a plotline paralleling another book.

  • Goddammit, it's NOT a movie version of "Call Me Joe"? That's disgusting.

I've just started paying attention to "Avatar" in the past few days since the trailer came out, and I automatically assumed it was based directly on the classic story.

Cameron may be a great director but he's got serious ethical problems.

  • Are you kidding with me?

I bet it will be a pretty good movie. But I think it's primarily going to be a vehicle for the new technology Cameron has been working on. And that's okay.

Were you really hoping it would be a film version of "Call Me Joe"? or were you thinking of another story from Poul Anderson written in 1978 called "The Avatar"?

  • "Are you kidding with me?"

No I was serious. The basic plot is too similar for it to be accidental. Cameron should just admit it and move on. If the fool had bought the movie rights properly, he probably could have got them quite cheaply since it was an old story. Now there may be a lawsuit....

"were you thinking of another story from Poul Anderson written in 1978 called "The Avatar"?"

I don't remember that one although I may still have read it. I read a lot of PoulA back in the 70s...

  • I remember cover (one of the papberbacks editions) for Anderson's "The Avatar" reminded me of "Star Wars"...I've not read it though ...I have only read a handful of Anderson's stories. But I just read "Call Me Joe" a few months ago and yeah, the similarities between it and Cameron's story are hard to miss. But the movie hasn't come out yet...wait and see.

I am just glad to hear that I am not the only one to see a the similarities.

  • Call me Joe, I'm pretty sure is a collection of short stories.

  • "Call Me Joe" is a short story...or novella, if that suits you (although I think it might be a little short for a novella).

  • if people had to credit everyone or everything that inspired them the credits would be longer than the movie itself. Unless he directly copied specific ideas, i see no need.

  • Read the story "Call Me Joe" by Poul Anderson and tell me what you think.

  • I saw these really awesome specialized home theater 3d hdtvs and glasses by mitsubishi electronics the other day. It was showing commercials for movies and clips. I thought, why don't they make video games in 3d!? That would kick ass! Well here it is.

  • Might be a bit like Lost Planet, but I hope this isn't going to be another Enter the Matrix.

  • Aaaaah!! game comes before the movie? I hope no spoilers are revealed.

  • if u wtached the vid you fucking moron it answers your question at the very start

hate people on youtube who type comments before the vid has even started

  • It uses the same world but play before the movie.

Also, to answer somone elses question:

The game is going to run under the Far Cry 2 engine so excpect smth along those lines with a bit more color.

  • Are you fucking retarded?!? half the comments say its not the same avatar as that gay-ass cartoon! Learn to read before you freak out.

  • the vehicles reminded me sort of halo, not saying they are or that its making me all pissy or anything, i think the game looks super sexy awesome. am i right?

  • Are you kidding me? This isnt that shit anime cartoon, this is a totally different movie that is coming out, and the game is coming out before it

  • WAHAHAHAHAHHAHA It has nothing to do with the ''occidental animation'' (its fully american produced writed and animated exept for some voices) that you call anime, This is about a new world that humanity has found and it has its own native life form that is being killed by the ''humanity'' suddenly apears a hybrid form of a human an a humanoid native that can change the way the humans see the natives ...

  • nothing to see

  • right people who think this is based on the anime its NOT its about an ex military officer who looses his legs or unable to move them and gets put into a virtual world and he is controlling an "AVATAR" thats where the name of the film comes from because its basicaly about an avatar: a virtual you

  • no this isnt the anime its nothing like it

  • wow u sound like a kid who got ass raped for watching a cartoon LOL

  • this isnt the freakin anime avatar its based on a movie coming out and i think it was a book or something, and i dont mean the live action avatar. thats called like last wind bender or some sh t. it just called avatar

  • from what I've heard about Avatar so far, it doesn't sound like an escape from the "world we live in today" but rather like an eye-candied recapturing of humans most terrifyingly stupid preconceptions.

  • Dang! Are there gameplay videos?

  • nothing new about "a new world". its always a "new world". thats not a feature of computer games, thats essetial.
