Jaques Tourneur and Robert Wise were geniuses. They were even better with Val Lewton to me, but even without him they were masters of the "fear of the unseen" style. Personally I liked Tourneur's work on Cat People a bit more than I Walked With a Zombie and The Leopard Man but those were still great too along with Night/Curse of the Demon. Robert Wise was also brilliant with this, the Body Snatcher, and The Haunting. Along with the Universal and Hammer films, these are my favorite horror movies.

One of those haunting movies that you never forget, truly a masterpiece. Simone Simon is stunning, and the spooky staring 'imposter' daughter Elizabeth Russell always creeps me out.

One of the loveliest films ever! Beauty Simone Simon's scene in the garden at Christmas has always haunted me. Anyone know the name of what seems to a "French" carol she's singing? Also, Elizabeth Russell was great as the menacing daughter. Thanks for posting.

That to me is also one of the greatest scenes on film. It's beautiful. The song, by the way, is a French carol called "Il est ne le divin enfant" and it's so lovely. This is a great movie!!
