I heard I don't know if it's true, that the top 5% owns 90% of the wealth which would mean they should pay 90% of all the taxes. Again, I don't know if it's true. I would be impressed if someone could find out what the top 1% earns (income + capital gains income) compared to what the bottom 50% earns. I wonder if the bottom 50% in your stats includes children, the unemployed, the disabled, etc.

I never said the bailout didn't originate from Bush. I said it WAS PUSHED through by Pelosi and company. There are no "senators" in the House of Representatives. Senators are in the senate. Bush is a big disappointment, definitely not a fiscal conservative. But that still doesn't change the fact that Clinton and the democrat controlled congress passed laws that made it easier for people who shouldn't be given loans to get them. All that's necessary to back up a quote (besides for the person to have actually said it, which would be difficult in this case) is one mention of it in a book, newspaper, or (in this case) some quote database or Churchill website. Since there are websites dedicated to Churchill quotes (with search functions) that should have been ridiculously easy.

According to the plans the candidates published on their websites, everyone making less than 2.9 MILLION will have a tax cut under Obama. Anyone making less than 112K will have BETTER tax breaks under Obama than they would have had under McCain.
Cooks don't need to be licensed, and plumbers do. Joe is not licensed, and lives in a county where licensure is legally required. So either he isn't a plumber, or he's breaking the law.

...you only need a license if you are self employed or are the owner/operator of a plumbing business. But as such, you can employ anyone you want, licensed or not, but YOU are responsible for their work. Joe was working FOR someone as a plumber, and was thinking about buying the business. He WORKED as a plumber. Therefore he was a plumber. He wasn't breaking any laws working as plumber without a license under his circumstances.

The Clinton "surplus" was based on projections of government income as long as the economy remained the same. The Clinton recession, 2000-2001, erased the "surplus" and threw us into a deficit. It would have been a lot worse had it not been for the Bush tax cuts which resulted in more people on the tax rolls and an increase in revenues.

For the record, Obama's economic doesn't differ much from Jimmy Carter's. I've called him a black Jimmy Carter for awhile now. Ask my hispanic wife or my two interracial children if I've stopped the attitudes of my "parents/grandparents". Ask my bother in law, who happens to be black, how our relationship is? He is the one who helped me get the job that I have now. My great grandparents were farmers and when the harvest came in they had more help than the others because they treated the black farm workers with respect and dignity. They passed their attitude on to their children, who did the same.

I like your statistics but they don't mean much unless we know how much money is earned by each group. I heard I don't know if it's true, that the top 5% owns 90% of the wealth which would mean they should pay 90% of all the taxes. Again, I don't know if it's true. I would be impressed if someone could find out what the top 1% earns (income + capital gains income) compared to what the bottom 50% earns. I wonder if the bottom 50% in your stats includes children, the unemployed, the disabled, etc.

Bill Clinton was not the reason for the surplus. Republicans headed by Newt Gingrich and John Kaisich pushed for the balanced budget. We're never going to agree, but try to be truthful. Clinton also signed the bill that relaxed lending practices so the poor could buy homes they couldn't afford. Can you say led to the bailout?

The BAILOUT originated from Bush. It was a Republican initiated bailout & Nancy Pelosi wanted BOTH parties to approve of it.
The republicans senators from the House of Representatives held off & refused to vote for it UNLESS a lot of pork was attached to it.
Even though the Midlle Class Tax Payers would end up unfairly, footing the bill, the House republicans...(knowing they would loose the elections)...insisted that million$ in earmarks by attached to it. That's the sad reality!!

wrong again. The house faild to pass it, So the SENATE dems added it onto an existing bill already loaded down with pork and voted on it and passed it and then it went back to the house for their vote.
The reason it happened that way is because the Senate can NOT initiane any spending legislature, it has to come from the house, but since the house REPUBLICANS voted it down the Senate dems had to find a way around the rule, so they tacked it on to an existing pork laden bill. GET IT RIGHT

I never said the bailout didn't originate from Bush. I said it WAS PUSHED through by Pelosi and company. There are no "senators" in the House of Representatives. Senators are in the senate. Bush is a big disappointment, definitely not a fiscal conservative. But that still doesn't change the fact that Clinton and the democrat controlled congress passed laws that made it easier for people who shouldn't be given loans to get them. Which led to bailout, which NEVER should have passed.

Pelosi didn't want the Democrats to get the blame for the bailout. It was Carter and Clinton's great ideas to allow people who couldn't afford homes to get mortgages that made the bailout necessary in the first place.
