No, I'm pretty sure this was made before the patch that lowered the gold star cutoff for RB1. I think that lowered cutoff is what RB2 uses. So that's why you were able to gold it.

My best assumption as to why it can't be gold-stared is because of the quick tempo really drains your overdrive quickly. But that's just my guess.

There's no super key secret to playing the bass pedal, just lots of practice. Plus, this is one of the hardest songs to learn. Once you get it down, it's really easy and fun to play.
