  • Neil Diamond's best song from his "touching you, touching me" LP. A great uptempo ditty!

    Bravo, Neil!

  • GROOVY!!!!!

  • 4evermore my soulmate at youtube lol--great posting --a gem of a song.He never wrote a bad one did he,--that's not a question--lolol

  • thanks, good to know.

  • it's funny, i think i'd only heard this song a few times with no video, of course, but the simple, visual dynamics of your video stuck in my mind along with the song... not too often this happens to me watching youtube. something else funny i noticed today, Neil here sounds like an old Black hustler man on the street, he doesn't do that too often in his early music (Roger Daltrey used to do that ^ all the time in the early days), either.

such a classic song, thanks for posting the video!

  • @astronomius Thank you for the nice comments.

I think 'Smokey Lady' was first released on the 'Touching You Touching Me' album in 1969. This is from the 'Play Me: The Complete Uni Studio Recordings...Plus' 2002. It is a 3 disc set with 74 songs and a great one to have.

  • "Smokey Lady run before me,

    Run behind me

    Where you're goin'

    Come on, come on,

Come on, come on, come on

Have good time flyin', half die tryin'

Come on and take me Smokey Lady,

    See what you can see..."

wow, classic verse, didn't know Neil was nasty, lol. actually, the whole album sounds great, it's kind of an extension from his first two, but not quite up to "Tap Root Manuscript"
