Hi. I enjoyed this one and the Omega one. I have an Omega 8005 that I use and totally forgot about the ability to use it for butters. Cool.

Back to wheatgrass. I did well growing with dirt until some soil had fruit fly or gnat larvae in it and they not only ate the roots but I have a house full of the flies. Yuck!

So I stopped and decided to try soiless so your video was encouraging. However, you don't say how long to keep the plants (after sprouting & putting in trays) in the dark. Thanks.

You keep the plants in the dark for one day in the trays, then put them in the light!

I experienced the same thing with those cheap trays. I got mine at the Dollar Store! they're actually cat litter trays! And my husband drilled holes in the bottom for me. I used to put trays under to catch the water as well, but with a space between. I think it's actually been 4 years now of growing. You still will have mold sometimes - it's definitely overwatering. You just don't need that much - a sprinkle, in hydroponic gardening. Let me know if I can help some more! Dorothy

Thank you so much for replying. I would like to grow my WG with no soil, but so far my attempts have failed. I tried a small tray after I watched your video, but I don't think I sprouted it long enough before 'planting' it.

I think it was too dry and that's why it didn't do well.

You've had such success, I want to continue trying it your way.

Question - do you juice it then, roots and all? Or do you cut it as you would if grown in soil?

Hi Debbie, You can juice the sprouts with the roots and all, if you like. I cut them above the roots, to avoid any possibility of mold. But that's just me. Let me know when you have success! Dorothy

Hmmm...did you soak the seeds for a day, then sprout them for 2-3 days until the sprouts came out? You soak them one day, then drain the water. The next day, rinse and drain them twice, and the same the next day. By that time, they should have little sprouts and can be put into the trays. Then, water them twice a day. And make sure the boxed have drainage holes!

Keep trying, it's so worth it! I think, to have your own sprouts, to grow them and juice them yourself, is so satisfying!

Yes, I sprouted them - just not as long as you did. The sprouts were as long as the wheat berry. So, now I know to sprout them longer.

Yes, I will touch back if that's okay because I'm *very determined* to get this right and not have to mess with the soil.

I won't give up - I've been at this for months.

Thanks for the cutting tip - I'll cut it above the roots as well.

I'd like to ask where you got your trays? I'm pretty tired of the FLIMSY 11x22" trays I order online - they crack so easily!

Also - I cannot let mine drip, I would have to have a tray to catch the drips - would that interfere with air flow do you think?

I'm mold-a-phobic. I've been growing WG for about 4 months and every tray has been moldy - and we live in the desert in WA state.

I'm determined to grow WG without soil. I've only tried it once a couple weeks ago, but it wasn't successful - I overwatered.

I'm so appreciative of finding your videos. I will definitely try this again as soon as my trays are free (I just planted 3 trays today in soil).

And you say you've been growing WG this way successfully for 3 years - okay, I'm encouraged that I can do this!
