Are U.S. evangelicals losing their influence on America? A new poll released Wednesday (June 22) from the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life seems to say just that, with the vast majority -- 82 percent -- of U.S. evangelical leaders saying their influence on the country is declining.

Was Joseph F Smith satan or perhaps B H Roberts? In that portion of History of the Church, was Joseph Smith's sermon a thing of God? Were Joseph Smith's polyandrous relationships things of God or of men?
If the women to whom he was polyandrously married claimed that they had no idea whether their children were fathered by Joseph or their legal husbands, does that mean that they were ignorant of where babies come from?

The so called apostasy that the Mormon church teaches is found nowhere in the Bible. They teach that apostasy is when apostles and prophets are no longer around to tell us what to believe and to act as mediators between God and man. Two problems with this idea; 1. The holy Spirit is here to keep us right with God 2. Jesus is the ONLY mediator
Don't be an IGNORAMUS..to say that apostasy is just limited to the "individual" is to deny the MANY times people as a whole have rejected God (i.e. those pre flood, those pre-Sodom and Gomorrah, most Jews who rejected Christ, etc..and on and on). Entire nations who once accepted God also rejected him later - thus Prophets were called to bring them back to the fold. I love how you apostate christians can't seem to think past protestant theology in light of the MANY SCRIPTURES that show otherwise.
The stories in the Bible are not only verified historically by other cultures such as Egyptians, Sumarians and Babylonians...but they are supported by physical and archaelogical evidence as well. The Book of Mormon can only be defended by blind faith. There is NO OTHER EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER of the places or happenings listed therein. And now that DNA has crushed the credibility of the very structure of Mormon faith, there's nothing left to defend. Enjoy hell, dumbasses. End of story....out.
Archaeology can only say that those places and certain itmes MENTIONED in the bible exist or existed to a degree...there are MANY who argue against those BIAS archaeologists who say otherwise. Anyone can say AFTER the fact by mentioning specific geological places in a story setting to try to validate thier mythology - I personally accept the bible as I do the Book of Mormon. You casn find strong evidences for the BofM too...go do some REAL research...
If using the archaeological record of places as a point of argument then I would say that our Doctrine and Covenants (D & C) are more accurate than the bible since ALL of the places mentioned in that set of scripture are verifiable and not just that but ALL of the people mentioned in that record are also verifiable...whereas Jesus Christ himself is not found OUTSIDE of the bible and those who argue that Josepheus mentions him are being dis-honest since that is highly debateable..go study...idiot
Doctrine and Covenants 42:12 we read: "And again, the elders, priests, and teachers of this church shall teach the principles of my gospel, which are in the Bible and the Book of Mormon, in the which is the fullness of the gospel."

In Chapter 2, verse 1, he continues "but there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies,...and many shall follow their pernicious ways..."
Then in Chapter 3 he continues "this second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: that ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandments of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers..." Notice, he refers them to past teachings and facts, not to feelings or prayer.

We LDS know that titles like "Jehovah" and "Elohim" in our theology can be applied to either the Father or Jesus...as is the tag "Father " also applied to Jesus...we have no theological problem with this. Even though we carry around copies of the standard works in which every book and chapter gets equal treatment, the truth is that we prize some parts of the scriptures more than others. We each have our favorites, which may change over time, but clearly some chapters strike us as particularly relevant or exciting or inspirational. Others, not so much.

We would expect a plethora of evidence everywhere. Given the millions of people, the metals, armor, huge cities, ect. The fact that we don't find anything is good evidence to suggest that such events never took place.
Don't forget this: The absence of evidence is evidence of absence if we would expect more evidence than what we find.

Lastly, no, you do not deserve eternal torture because you want more evidence, nor will God condemn you for having doubts. There is a reason why we teach baptism for the dead. Our existence does not end with our bodies dying and we will be able to learn things we could not learn here and there will be ample evidence there. Call it a second chance if you want, but it is best that we do not throw away the first because of our own impatience when it comes to understanding spiritual things.

I am an ex Mormon and have been told several times by several Mormons (including my parents) that I'm going to Hell, and they ALWAYS refer to the BOM, DOC, POGP, etc but never the Bible. I am a proud Christian, I have my convictions, I have a heart after God, but I find it pathetic that Mormons tell me I'm going to Hell because I don't believe in your "Hard to Believe" doctrine.

ok, how about "eternal marriage"? Why is it that the only references we see to heavenly marriage are in the gospels, and are REFUTING it? If it is so important, why is it that the only mention of it is against it? You won't find any reference to it, because Joseph and Brigham made it up to verify their womanizing and multiple marriages. Why is there no mention of Christians building temples? Solomon's temple was destroyed in 70 A.D. so where did the 1st. century Mormons worship and baptize?

How about that boat that "god" told people to build in the Book Of Mormon? It was shaped basically like a football, with big doors on either side. "god" supposedly told them "if it happens that the boat rolls over, close one door, and open the other one" The problem with "god's" logic is that a boat like that would sink in a matter of seconds. The word does not have to be used in order for the concept to be clearly evident in the context. You claim such extensive education, yet you continue to embarrass yourself. If the Bible describes the act of apostasy without actually using the word apostasy, then it still means the same thing. An example in English would be if I were to say "Bob illegally absconded with my belongings" rather than saying "Bob stole my CD's" The meaning is the same, even though I didn't use the word stole. Wake up!

apostasy is when an individual who was saved by grace through faith rejects his/her salvation is lost again. When one does this, one is forever lost. The so called apostasy that the Mormon church teaches is found nowhere in the Bible. They teach that apostasy is when apostles and prophets are no longer around to tell us what to believe and to act as mediators between God and man. Two problems with this idea; 1. The holy Spirit is here to keep us right with God 2. Jesus is the ONLY mediator

Don't be an IGNORAMUS..to say that apostasy is just limited to the "individual" is to deny the MANY times people as a whole have rejected God (i.e. those pre flood, those pre-Sodom and Gomorrah, most Jews who rejected Christ, etc..and on and on). Entire nations who once accepted God also rejected him later - thus Prophets were called to bring them back to the fold. The stories in the Bible are not only verified historically by other cultures such as Egyptians, Sumarians and Babylonians...but they are supported by physical and archaelogical evidence as well. The Book of Mormon can only be defended by blind faith. There is NO OTHER EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER of the places or happenings listed therein. And now that DNA has crushed the credibility of the very structure of Mormon faith, there's nothing left to defend. Enjoy hell, dumbasses. End of story....out.

Archaeology can only say that those places and certain itmes MENTIONED in the bible exist or existed to a degree...there are MANY who argue against those BIAS archaeologists who say otherwise. Anyone can say AFTER the fact by mentioning specific geological places in a story setting to try to validate thier mythology - I personally accept the bible as I do the Book of Mormon. You casn find strong evidences for the BofM too...go do some REAL research...

If using the archaeological record of places as a point of argument then I would say that our Doctrine and Covenants (D & C) are more accurate than the bible since ALL of the places mentioned in that set of scripture are verifiable and not just that but ALL of the people mentioned in that record are also verifiable...whereas Jesus Christ himself is not found OUTSIDE of the bible and those who argue that Josepheus mentions him are being dis-honest since that is highly debateable..go study...idiot

Means: A fallling away - apostacy...it does not refer to a "partial falliing away", but a "COMPLETE falling away"..for one CANNOT FALL AWAY partially..duh

2 Thessalonians 2:3 "Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come A FALLING AWAY FIRST, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition" Paul is talking about a scenario of events that must first occur (2 Thessalonians 2:3-12) before the end will come. The overall point Paul makes is the need to reject such lies as Satan sends; he also reaffirms the Thessalonians in their calling (2 Thessalonians 2:13-14). Context is important!

In Chapter 2, verse 1, he continues "but there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies,...and many shall follow their pernicious ways..."

Then in Chapter 3 he continues "this second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: that ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandments of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers..." Notice, he refers them to past teachings and facts, not to feelings or prayer.

Here's one for ya Mr. super smart Mormon, did you know that in the Bible, Jehovah (The Lord) is the father of the Messiah? That's right, Jehovah is the father, and the son is also called Jehovah, the two are one in the same being. In several places throughout the Hebrew text, God is called "Jehovahelohim" as in He is one being. Jehovah and Elohim are the same being... how does that sit in your theology? Oh, BTW I can offer MUCH proof of this, if you want a debate, by all means let's do it.

We LDS know that titles like "Jehovah" and "Elohim" in our theology can be applied to either the Father or Jesus...as is the tag "Father " also applied to Jesus...we have no theological problem with this. We do know that we refer to Jesus in most cases as Jehovah as this was the majority of times Jesus. And Elohim when not refering to "angels", "judges", or "gods" (plural) is also the name for the Father

in LDS theology, Jehovah is Jesus, and Elohim is the father. In the Bible, the one and only God is called "Jehovah-Elohim" or as it is translated in English The Lord God. There is only one of Him, and He is both the father, and the son. This is so clear, yet LDS theology breaks the Godhead into 3 separate gods. The Hebrew word for one, in reference to God's oneness is echad, and it literally means 1. So, when the Bible says God is one, it means that He is alone in the universe as God.

As I told you below already (you must have a reading comprehension problem)...normally those name s ARE associated with them but there are instances where Jesus spoke in the authority of his Father Elohim and used his name and vice versa...that is LDS theology - the arrogance of those who claim to know our theology never ceases to amaze me.

Don't tell me about Hebrew and Christian history...I study that...your perception of history and facts are filtered through your false protestant theology...which believes in a 3-headed god who was created through debate via Hellenistic philosophy - where if any Bishop disagree with the pagan Constantine's idea of who God was - would be either put to death or exiled...so those who OPPOSED were left out..of course there would only be one conclusion and accepted theology - by force.

There is not just ONE God. That is FALSE doctrine. the way you are interpreting the scripture. When it says God is ONE - it is refering to the "ONE" God whom we give worship to - the Father - the Only GOD we deal with in this manner with the exception that when Jesus is in our presence he acts in the athourity of the Father and thus can also recieve our worship. But GOd the Father is the ONLY GOD we have to deal with above all other Gods. Which by the way you still have not answered my question

Actually it is "Shema". ecahd is usually used by kabbalists...lol..whoa..you really are out there....whole different association with that word...I also took one year of Hebrew. As for that Shema by the Jews...we LDS have no problem with that in the context I stated above. God (The Father) is the ONLY God we worship.
