The problems with this HOT Cards, happens mostly when peoples does not clean the cards regulary, or when the Cards runs to Hot, "for 2long time"
Thats why i test always my New Cards, when thei work stable, i buy me a Extra Cooler and mount it, at this way the Cards runs much longer as with the stock cooler!
And if i canT buy a Cooler, then i do it my self :)
A lot of poeple say the 8800GT is a good card but wait.. WHY do i see youtube full of fixes for the 8800GT? Becuz its a bad card that will be dead really soon. Thats why.
@ultragaming1993 back in the day, the price/performance ratio was really good. was it realiable? dunno. i had no problem w/ it until the day it suddenly stopped working. but at the very least, it was repairable for less than 1$ and really easy to do too
LOL, This might be helpful if one day that 550ti which I hadn't gotten yet and saving up to get dies. Yep Once I get enough cash, I'll upgrade my GT 240 to a GTX 550ti and my 400Watt PSU to a 550Watt or 600Watt PSU.
At 1st when I seen videos named oven trick, I though they where gonna be comedy, Guess even the silyliest ideas could be serious.
today i also put my XFX 8800 GTS in oven after my Pc wont boot at all...not even Post screen...after check graphic card was the problem...i had nothing to loose...i had bought it 5 years ago so i just tried this trick.....WELL HERE IT IS BACK TO LIFE...VERY HAPPY AT ALL....BELEIVE IT OR NOT,THIS IS HELL TRUE!!!!!I HAVE TO THANKS THE MAN WHO DISCOVERD IT....THANKS ALOT!!!!
@ggramenosggr I am about to try this myself with my XFX 8800GTS (4 years on and I just realized I never registered it....doh!), got artifacts on initial post and in BIOS, just a few questions, what temp for the oven and what did you remove from the card, I have head that 375 F is the temp to use, can you confirm this?
I know I would remove the fan and disconnect it from the pin header, but what about the pin header itself and the plastic power connector that is soldered to the board?
@ggramenosggr I own the 8800 GTX and I think the issue is with the heat that this card makes breaks the soldering connections. Mainly because the fan runs at 60% speed until it gets to 70 to 80C maybe higher than that then it starts to break soldering joints. To prevent this I use Riva Tuner to set the fan at 100% always when windows boots. It also does not help when the heatsink is clogged with dust which I have to take apart the card to clean it once a year.
I posted a video on my video card repair with details if you care to have a look! The oven bake simply simulates a GPU reflow process performed with more costly equipment. My card was dead, artifacts at boot up, etc. What did I have to lose to try this procedure?A typical GPU reflow will involve heating up the GPU to 100C for 3 minutes, and increase to 200C for 10 minutes. This is done with the GPU facing up. In fact, the heat is applied to the GPU itself, and does not harm the chip!
@Vhinee18 if you do it right, it should solve the problem..but your problem could be of a different kind and therefore, maybe this is not the solution for you..i always recomend you do this for this kind of problem IF it`s not under waranty and you know how to use a screwdriver. Also, it cost me about 1$ to do + 1 hour of my time
@t3hPoundcake Yes, at 100% from what i heard (it was really loud) but it still didn`t change anything..my screen was still black, like when it`s in screensaver mode
@TCIstuff I have that same problem, my card's fan will spin up 100% like normal, but it wont go back down, and my screen still stays in the "No signal input" state, my other 8400gs works like a charm, I ordered a new card too so I just have to wait for it to arrive, but still the oven trick just didnt work for me =( Tried 3 times.
@dj8work i have video of it (at the beginning). It doesn`t look broken or anything, just randomly decided one day to stop sending video signal through any of the 3 outputs, so i did this and now it works with no problem (almost a month since then)
..." so you take the chicken i mean video card and put in in the oven at OVER 9000 degrees and just leave it there for eternity and then buy a new house because of the UNEXPECTED explosion." metallica-one ftw.

I have tried this 3 times with 3 different graphic cards, and they all remained the same,is it perhaps because I have a gas cooker?

the games i have weird artifact things on my screen and sound loop are :
F.E.A.R ( any fear game)
MoonBase Alpha
Unreal Tournament 3
assassins creed (2 and brotherhood)
so something is really messed up with that gpu
TheHat3z 1 year ago
@TheHat3z try reinstalling the newest drivers to the mobo and gpu, increase the fan speed to 100% and try it that way
this is a last attempt to make it work again
good luck if you decide to do it ;)
