  • Nearly 1 fucking hour for this track to download so i could listen to it without stopping.Australian Telstra 3G fantastic broadband is all fucking lies.Piece of shit liars.

  • i was there and they came on stage really late cos they were out their heads on acid

  • this is storming..

  • @zeccheinfami1 and colours tasted real good. Now was Lemmy on the bass?

  • Music for smoking one of those funny cigarettes to ;)

  • Wich year was this recorded?

Was Lemmy on the bass yet?? Gimme some info please...

  • I was standing staring at this girl dancing on acid when I thought I know that music and fuck me it was Hawkwind. I was so mashed and up on mushrooms that I started dancing with her. You cant buy moments like that. Westbury, covered in mud and off my tit's..

  • musta been a far out time! And if this was how your trip went, god damn!

  • At a squat party in Bishops Avenue, Hampstead, I introduced Sid Rawle to Johnny Rotten.

    They hated each other. :-)

  • @ZipButtons LMFAO... you don't say! hahahaha... I can imagine, I had a few run in's with that guy Sid Rawles... once at one of the Rainbow Fayre's near Talgerth and I wanted to park up for ten minutes while I dropped my kids off with their mother... cunt wouldn't let me in...

and at a Mind Body and Spirit in London Earl's Court, when a few of us from Worthing went into his teepee and sat in a circle and commenced to smoke several chillum's... he got very annoyed... LOL Bless him indeed...

  • @Ashphodelic fuck me didnt think id hear that twats name again we just used to ignore the psudo travlaaaar prick

  • @Ashphodelic Last time I saw Sid was about 15-20 years ago at the Greenwich Festival, sat cross-legged in his teepee being fawned on by young female accolites.

He didn't remember me from Adam. We squatted together for three years. Heh!

There is/was many threads on the Tribal Living website about his attitude and behaviour towards young women.

  • @ZipButtons LOL did you see Johnny Rotten on Judge Judy?-Its an american judicial show!

  • It was Sid Rawles....bless him.

  • Headgames Played with Hawkwind In The 80's at Glastonbury Travellers Field...Tripping off there Heads on Acid

  • groovy stuff !!! ahh thanks for sharing man!

  • thats the fantastic roadhawks version innit? wish that were on cd.

brlliant, ta, much better for that .....ha!

  • @micmacmoc

this version of the song is on CD dude,

  • Time

  • Comment removed

  • i'm diggin this......trippin out man

  • hmmm shouldnt do that, sit back have a smoke and enjoy...

  • cool wake up driving music. Did Jimmy re-incarnate?

  • Feck the space ritual - just get "In search of space" and have a few reaallyyyyy nice smokes!

  • veh goodz

  • Sorry to be picky but this ISN"T at henge on acid at all.

This was at The Liverpool Stadium on 22 12 1972. with Dave Brock, Robert Calvert, Lemmy, Nick Turner, Dik Mik, Del Detmar and Simon King I've got the album it's off. If anyone's interested it's a compilation of live and studio tracks including the original version of Urban Guerrilla. It's called Hawklords and originally came with a poster. Gatefold sleeve on United Artists released in 1973

  • ur dead right..doesnt even sound like wot they would play at a henge gig,if u see wot i mean...too much studio work...sounds like the track from in search of space,or doremi-forget which

  • You're mostly right, Chris, but the name of the album you're thinking of is "Roadhawks", which was released in 1976.

This version of "You Shouldn't Do That" also appears on the "Space Ritual" remaster.

  • Sorry again, this compilation you speak about was published in 1976, named Roadhawks (cover by Barney Bubbles), yeas and it contained a Doremi Sticker and of course the famous Roadhawks poster

  • lol, love the description dude, "someone stole my clothes". peace, love and mental mushrooms.

    p.s George Bush

  • brillant

  • although I'm just an Acid Head I'm still completely sane. So don't believe reports that say the stuff affects the brain! Happy Easter everyone LOL!

    Hawkwind still rock!

  • Absolutely. I've dosed countless times and still have my mind. I think.

  • nice

  • Me and the Mrs were there! All a blur really,a very happy colourful blurrrrrr!!!!!!!!!

  • Featuring the brilliant live "Shouldn't do that" from the Roadhawks LP (remember them?) and at least one CD too, including a bonus track on Space Ritual. Actually recorded at the Liverpool Stadium (not Anfield)22 Dec 72 according to the sleevenotes and not Stonehenge. Still pretty groovy visuals though, and thanks for a splendid track!

  • Yes, Trade Descriptions would have something to say about the title of this vid.

  • great video!

  • I wasnt there, tho I tried the next year and was beatn back by the rozzers. I saw Hawkwind dozens of times in the 80s and they always started with this number. fucking brilliant start to any gig eh?

  • Oh , yes , YES , YES , I was there and I remember it exactly like that !!!!

  • great!!!

  • it is pretty amazing --i guess there was a lot of cross-fertilisation of ideas going around then (eg JH heard Hawkwind at the Isle of Wight festival)

... this is the best version of this track out there

  • Isn't the riff at 4:55 the same one as from the Hendrix track "Sunshine of your love"?

  • sunshine of your love is by cream

  • yes, I know --but i was talking especially about the Hendrix cover

  • Yeah i just realized. Didn't know he did it, so I downloaded it,sounds great!!!

  • music isnt a competition

  • excellent translation of hawkwind and their creations. nice one

  • great live version.

  • This video is the best 6 minutes 59 seconds you can spend without being a law-breaker in the world

Much cudos (sp.?) for actually getting the visuals right

    Hawkwind - - - a reason to be alive!

  • break the law however u want..............live

  • Hawkwind plaed live in truro in cornwall live in 1999. at the Hall 4 c0rnwall........

  • played live at treworgey tree festival in corwall in 89.........tripped out to fk

  • Hawkwind are and always be the BUISNESS, You jus'gotta be in the right headspace see?

  • the best hawkwind track ever...amazing...truly mind bending...thanx...took me back to when i used to pick strange mushrooms in a cow field....lol

  • Agree. The version at the Watchfield Festival was also just as awesome.

  • Shouldn't do that .... is off the album 'In search of space' not Space Ritual. It was recorded for a BBC Maida Vale session on 19 May 1971 for the Sounds of the Seventies show.

  • nooo this comes off the roadhawks album

  • This is off Space Ritual, not Stonehenge..

  • This is " you shouldn`t do that" from the Roadhawks album.........great track but nothing to do with Stonehenge .......

  • your so right

  • your about the only one (nickinwestwales) who knows what they are talking about..spot on mate...nothing to do with the Henge or Space Rit album.

  • her name is Stacey and what a dancer

  • so where the fuck are hawkwind? And thats not what see on acid and i had the real shit back in the 70s

  • Hawkwinds Bassist would later go on to form Motorhead and become the legendary Lemmy Kilmister. The rest of the band fell off the face of the earth in a silver machine.

  • no mate Robert Calvert had a heart attack and died then lemmy left and hawkwind turned off

  • Both wrong... Lemmy was long gone before Calvert left the band.

Hawkwind were still pretty good up until and including 'Levitation', in my opinion.

  • I agree actually!Levitation was a great album.

  • lets pray that the atmosphere changes and everyone begins tripping then everyone will be free

  • I no do acid-liable to take it and wind up enjoying Britney Spears and Thomas Kinkade...

  • you poor bugger

  • Note too Self LSD contains 47 times its own weight in excess reality ! hehehehe

  • first of all...pure LSD is fantastic...

second and more importantly, i think it's awesome that there are people here who remember the same asshole(sid) from back in the day! haha...that guy must have had a huge impression. was he basically trying to get with these hippy chic's through use of religion? weird...

  • Wow trippy shit man....turns ya mind into a picasso painting....this was first released on Roadhawks---this is a shit kickin version of you shouldnt do that ...i only wish i had of been there to see it live

  • Hawkwind rules!

  • when you reach your peak it's time to die.

  • I really to agree with what your saying. LSD was and is very bad stuff to be giving to kids. I suppose it is part of life's learning curve but I really do despise a lot of the counter culture types these days. They are same dam irresponsible. My wife was exposed to acid and has never recovered, that was at the Henge and she was only 14 at the time. What gave them the right to push their shit on kids ?

  • Sorry to hear what happened to yer wife. Growing up, i was surrounded by these people for 20 years! I remember one year at henge, having to lie to my mum about going in to town in order to hitch hike back to london to do o level exams! Just self absorbed, selfish idiots and fucking childish. Music was great tho!

  • While u were droppin acid I was climbing trees & playing ska music @ the youth club! Sum parents think they love their children, I beg to differ. Thats NOT love. I've only ever ad one acid tab...it was amazing, what a trip..I never needed another one after that, why wud I? ;) xXx Hawkwind still gives me goose bumps tho!

  • I'm still waiting to see.. if anybody out there remembers that prick 'Sid Rules' The hippie preacher from stonehenge 82-84. What a wanker!

  • I certinly do and I also agree that the guy was (most likely still is) an utter tosser. Playing red indian in wales. I did have a flinge with a girl from tally at a festival but they were so out of touch with reality it was unreal. Again most of them came from good middle class backgrounds and were playing at "hippy".

  • I stayed on a farm in wales, with hippies from Glasto'. I was 12. Sid was doing his usual preaching to little hippie chicks (without his clothes as per') And i told him he was 'full of shit' in front of the whole commune! So much for peace and love.. He dragged me out side and bashed me up. What a cunt. I'd love to catch up with him now.

  • @liamardo007 LOL!!! Fekkin preachers and gooroos.... Sid who?

  • @PerfectMystery .. he called himself 'sid rules' Self styled king of the hippies! Just a fat old cornish pedo' yocal looking for misguided hippy girls.

  • Liquid sounds/visuals...O.O..

  • No videos of choose your masks!!!! I Can't believe it.

  • so this track was concieved 70/71 fact - this version is 72 space ritual encore with lemmy on bass see dates for tom Crimbles base below 19 May 71 - Maida Vale - You Shouldn't Do That (Turner/Brock) 5:52 - appears on Text Of Festival, Weird 8 Nik Turner (vocals, sax and flute), Dave Brock (vocals and guitar), Dik Mik (electronics), Terry Ollis (drums) with bass duties split between Thomas Crimble (1970) and Dave Anderson (1971).

  • in response to the comment by adventure66 heres the historical facts - learn them..."You Shouldn't Do That" is an extended piece that they had been playing live from Crimble's time in the band, and he asserts that he should have received a writer's credit for the central bass line on which this is based, a bootleg version of the session can be found on 'The Text of Festival'. later appearing in 1975/6 on the compilation album Roadhawks. ( THIS IS IT Playing here )

  • no beginning no middle and no end-just when you needed one.

  • In 1976, the bicentinial year we had over three days for july 4th Red, white and blue aceeeed.

That and Hawkwind, "Standing on the edge" etc was an awesome time.

  • Great work good trip

  • LSD, acid, alice d., 'cid, tabs, hits, gellies, papers, dots, L, tickets to the art show... whatever ya call the girl, she is quite the wise mistress, isn't she?

also great live version of "you shouldnt do that"... i dig, my friend, i dig.

  • wise AND unpredictable, may i add. god i love LSD... just kinda washing around in my head from the join show this saturday... bad night. lots of money spent needlessly, kicked out of a bar, etc. etc... but a great trip and a rewarding experience nonetheless. of course. best. drug. ever.

  • I'm an "acid-head" from the 70's - totally changed me, I've never been the same since and I'm glad. The 'Wise Mistress" indeed!

  • great song i luv it and luv hawkwind

  • I have watched this a number of times and it is one of the best dipictions of 'the psychadelic experience' I have ever seen. You have managed to incorporate something organic into it, and also included just enough of the real world to make it seem real.

You really should do a long piece of work - an hour plus - would work wonders

  • soo-oooo-ooaar!

  • the white tent they played was outside isle of man and this song was not even concieved

  • "You Shouldn't Do That" is an extended piece that they had been playing live from Crimble's time in the band, and he asserts that he should have received a writer's credit for the central bass line on which this is based.[, a bootleg version of the session can be found on The Text of Festival. It was the encore for the Space Ritual show but omitted from that album, later appearing in 1975/6 on the compilation album Roadhawks.

  • Hawks it is from SPACERITUAL

  • Is called `You shouldn`t do that`-Is on side 2 of Roadhawks if memory serves--almost certainly part of the space ritual live show...so-both right

  • Yeh! You Cant Do This & Cant Do That,

  • Its not from Roadhawks - its from Space Ritual

  • This tune is from Roadhawks i so wish they make it into a CD hoping or at least i have the album which i can make to a cd, brilliant fucked up music from Hawkwind

  • GROOVY MAN!!!!!!!!!!!.......

  • This is bliss.

    Pure NRG.

    Thanx for sharing.

  • they lied.....we hawks dont digit...

  • this is you shouldn't do that, hawkwind never played in a tent at stonehenge the main stage looked like a tent

  • The name of this song is , "shouldn't do that".

  • Man i wish the trips i've done were as mental as that, I have at least at still usually see the band, even if they did look like alien amoeba's at the time.

  • Sad to hear 'space ritual' had all their equipment nicked in mill hill! Any point in peace and love!

  • Great stuff ! Any footage of Hawkwind playing at the Watchfield festival ? They performed an awesome version of "You shouldn't do that."

  • Gosh!Taking drugs must be terrible!Which song are they playing?

  • nah! It's really awesome!! Try it

  • With this music and imagery, who needs drugs?

  • me please

  • me please

  • Er, you said that twice, nothing to do with the drugs I take it : 0

  • lol, probably has a lot to do with it!!

  • good job, jjccccc

  • Hawkwind, LSd, shrooms.. and vivid colors...takes me back 25 years........ WoW...

    cheers mate...

  • This video would have come in real handy about 30 years ago. LSD, Hawkwind, and swirly colours.

  • My God...I was AT this!

  • if i remember correctly there was red stars which were ok and microdots which were seeds in plastic but the best of all were the black stars which alloud me to become truely telopathic and see the notes appear in the sky from guitars as they were played, which i thought was cool

  • Pardon my lack of knowledge, but which song is this and where is it obtainable?

  • 'You Shouldn't Do That' on the Space Ritual album. Every home should have one.

  • Hey, thanks for the info, twystedprism! Almost too good to be true, this! About to get hold of an original US vinyl pressing with the poster cover intact of the Space Ritual, hopefully it's no difference in the mix!? In the same deal, I got hold of a nice UK copy of "Roadhawks" complete with poster. And me who was supposed to keep onto good ol' Crimso being the only acceptable "70'S prog" band around (well, I dug Gong's "1977 Floating Anarchy" for years also, but still...).Ta!!

  • Well, sorry about the "prog" rap, guess this isn't that much prog, although certainly related, what i'd like to know for now though is that, are there any videos around with The Heads from UK?? They still around??? Where to get their records???

  • Wooooah! I think 'You Shouldn't Do That' is on the CD reissue (i've lost track over the years' BUT the vinyl will shake your building, body and mind to their foundations so enjoy the flight and the space ritual!!

  • i have no idea

  • exactly like the trips i had.. gives me a hot flush just thinkin bout it!

  • that looks absolutely nothing like lsd hallucinations, but its kinda fun to watch

  • hmm.. looks exactly like I saw them on a Purple Om at Ribblehead, lol, except this is missing the bridge and the sheep.

  • i was there too.The purple oms were good

  • I know , I probably sold them to you!

  • Yeah.. Me and my sister had our first purple Omes at Stonehenge 1980. I was 12 years old. Although she,(my sis') first had acid at 9 years old, back in 1976. No thanks to our mum... who actually gave them to us! Great parenting.

  • I hope your ok now? What an utterly shit thing to do to a child.

  • Appreciate the nice words. I'm doing ok these days thanks. I don't begrudge the experience anymore but glad to have finally got away from the abusive people, including mother dearest!!!! How about you. Were u around in those days?

  • great stuff brings back some great times

  • hawkwind were evil witches may they all burn in hell

  • lmao.. and I hope i'm with them when they do cos it'll be a great gig.

  • wow

  • kings of speed lords of light

  • awesome..

  • Very trippy -reminds me of their gig at the Edmonton Sundown with the Pink Fairies.

    I think.

  • man, u sure kno how to trip with the colors

  • I remember.
