Actually, he was quoted as saying "I'm gonna take a suspension on you", and he did, and I believe he cost the Leafs at least a Cup Finals appearance. The Leafs had control of the series; they tied up the series 2-2 after that game. That hit "woke up the giant" and the Devils used it to fuel their fire. It also deflated a lot of the Leafs players (Sundin being one of them). Up until that "hit". the Leafs were playing championship calibre hockey. After that "Hit", the Devils took over & won.
