  • religious segregation is unacceptable. whilst religion is exempt from human equality legislation then society will always be full of sexists, racists and bigots.

  • So, If an organization get taxes. Then, they should not be allow to make a decision base on moral beliefs(religion). Even though that organization is forced to pay taxes. Talk about forcing your beliefs on to others.

If the girls had been kicked out of any institution for being Christian, for being black, for being left-handed, there would be hell to pay. This is the same thing. Prejudice has no place anywhere.

  • Bible only says that men can't lay with men. It says that twice:

    Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

    Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

    Lesbian sex is fine. In fact, gay men can still love and live with each other...just not have sex with each other. Read the Bible.

  • In a slightly different point-of-view, freedom for choosing a religion only exists if every institution allows this choice. A **school** that does not allow kids to have their own religion or lack of one is not supposed to be accepted in a country where people are supposed to be free to choose their own religion. Such institutions should not be allowed.

  • There is a problem with this argument. Personal freedom only exists while there is a state that prevents the strongest from forcing the weaker to do what they want. Once the most influent people organize their society by placing the best teachers in a school and impose religious rules to the kids in order to get access to a good education, personal freedom is replaced by private control. And that is not acceptable!

The stoning part: those were rules specifically for Israel with whom god made a CONTRACT. According to the story, god wanted a perfect society for himself, and his ideal excluded homosexuality. The Bible does not tell gentiles to stone their homosexuals. Israel must of been only nation at the time were law required slaves to be freed every 7th year.

Most Americans can only get a decent education from those schools and said schools should not be allowed to reject students on basis of sexual orientation. Where I come from, we call that "discrimination," and even our religious schools aren't allowed to do that shit.

Most of the time it's the parents who decide where their children go and most gay people aren't actually sure about their sexual orientation until AFTER they go to highschool. And saying it doesn't compare because of the 'scope' of people it involves is a disgusting thing to say, because that would surely be the perfect excuse to do ANYTHING to a minority, and THAT IS an ignorant argument.

It would be REDICULOUS to say the school has to change their religous beliefs to accompany its students. I'm not attacking the kid I'm sure it was very hard for them to admit it. But don't say for a second it's the schools fault the kid got there, she should never have been there.

  • @Miniryke and there is an ENORMOUS difference between discriminating against black and gays. There is no defining characteristic among black people, the only reason to discriminate is therefore skin color. That wouldn't make sense. But I'm pretty sure there is a defining characteristic for homosexuals, isn't there? And that characteristic goes against religious beliefs of many, including this school.

  • Any religion needs to be free to practice its own rites, so public schools have to allow LGBT students. They have to be secular. The second we get rid of secularism is the second we accept one religion as paramount. When we do that, we oppress all other religions involuntarily. So the argument is that the state can't be Christian and have freedom of religion at the same time - and freedom is more important.

Even though He uses the word woman He also uses the word man with it, so I don't know what you're trying to say about it, or what argument you're trying to support with it. Matt.5:18, which says, not one jot or tittle is to be added or removed. Also, using science to prove the Bible is like trying to argue God's existence with an atheist: pointless, futile. It's using reason to prove something that we can only accept on faith.

  • Christians who can bear witness to the fact (myself included) that there were times in their lives when it was other Christians who showed them more love than their own spouse.....that doesn't mean they had sex with them.

  • Second, just because it says that Jonathan and he were spiritually intimate, in doesn't mean they were physically intimate....kissing was also done by friends, and as a customary greeting in ancient times, especially to kings....we don't assume that everyone that kissed a king also had sex with him...i'm sure anyone could see how ridiculous that sounds....and as for his love for Jonathan being stronger than any woman....there are many .....

  • David is a bad example to support your argument. First of all, he slept with a married woman and then basically killed her husband.....but God doesn't say that because he loved David He is going to say that he didn't sin....David was a human sinner....so even if that IS true about his relationship with Jonathan, it proves nothing except that David was a sinner, which we all already know.

If you read the whole chapter, Saul hated David, and was trying to kill him, so he sent him into battle to lead the army, but he also tried to give his OTHER DAUGHTER Merab to David, to distract David from fighting well......but it was his daughter Michel who was in love with David.

  • @nikkilynne1934 The translators of the Living Bible apparently could not handle the thought of two adult men kissing, so they mistranslated the passage by saying that the two men shook hands! This is somewhat less than honest. The original Hebrew text says that they kissed each other and wept together until David became great. The word which means "great" in this passage is "gadal" in the original Hebrew.

    In the society of ancient Israel, it was not considered proper for a man and woman to have a platonic relationship. Men and women rarely spoke to each other in public. Since David's only relationships with women would have been sexual in nature, then he must be referring to sexual love here.

  • @erinrandt No matter what proper behaviour was considered between the sexes in a society, whether Israel or not, if a friend looks at their best friend who has just given them the clothes off their back because their father is hunting the person down to kill them, and they say something like "you've shown me more love than any woman could have", it DOES NOT mean they are having sex! It means he sacrificed for him even more than most women would for a man.

  • @NoeLPZC Biblical scholars have embraced this interpretation (that the city was destroyed for disregarding the sacred laws of hospitality to the stranger, and in this case visitors sent from God) since around 1955. Scholars also recommend that sexual overtones in the story are faint, if suggested at all. In the original interpretive traditions the moral of the story was about hospitality to the stranger and failure to respond to the offer of Salvation made by the visitors.

  • @NoeLPZC no where in these versus is homosexuality even mentiond so the sin of sodom is not homosexuality but the lack of hospitality and it is for that reason it was destroyed even jesus said it was it's lack of hospitality to the stranger.

    The Bible DOES talk about homosexuality, and it forbids it.

    Anyway, I find your claim to be shaky at best. Those verses are right alongside many other "sexual immorality" rules, such as no incest and no bestiality. While I don't deny there were pagan practices that involved homosexuality, to assume these passages refer explicitly to that given their context (and lack of pagan context) is grabbing at straws.

  • @erinrandt I don't need to read history....to make excuses for what the Bible clearly condemns in the New Testament. Whether or not ancient I-S-R-A-E-L saw pagan practices and were tempted by them, the New Testament clearly states that "homosexuals" cannot enter the kingdom of heaven.

    jesus leads us to redemption by his love and by our faith even a gay man can get to heaven by his faith and if he has a relationship with the lord when a gay man merries another gay man they have made a commetment wich is one of love and respect and to work together if one was raised as a christian it will carry over.

The former meaning literally, "one who lies with a male as with a female", and the other referring in a bad sense the the effeminate of a catamite of a boy kept for homosexual relations with a man of a male who submits his body to unnatural lewdness of a male prostitute.
