The endings to this game have been kinda ambiguous, or even contradictory at times. Ok, so Kane wanted to ascend and leave after being over 1000 years old, but he had to start a war to do it? Right . . . I dont think the writers used their heads much in the making of this story. For the first three games in the series, I used to think that this game had one of the most elaborate and exhaustive storylines, in the sense that you would be left with no more question marks than the amount you were supposed to have. Even tiberium itself was explained with intense scientific detail.

I foolishly believed that this extremely satisfying storyline was going to be concluded by an equally well-thought, climactic conclusion. Then I bought the game, and saw I was badly mistaken.

I just wonder why Col. James uses a Beretta 92 (or variant); shouldn't GDI have different sidearms, being it's the future and all...? Well, of course I do know the real reason to that - it's cheaper to use a popular prop gun like Beretta than to design a separate weapon (like they did in C&C3, which was more convincing). Notice also that the GDI guards escorting Kane in the Launch trailer carry plain regular P-90s.

For all we know Kane figured out how to ascend to a higher plane of existence using the power from the TCN funneled into the portal. Again all this is speculation.
