I started listening to Petty in 1977...haven't stopped since. First time I saw Petty was at Red Rocks in 1981 and again in Germany ~1983. I also spent a ton of time in Mecca (Gainesville, his hometown) with my sons having graduated from UF. He truly is an icon!
@bobdylan4evr I'm a huge Dylan fan myself and love "My love she speaks like silence" but I disagree that this is identical. Maybe a similar tune. Harisson famously said there are only so many tunes you can create out of so many chords. But the temp is different, so is the vibe. So enjoy. they are both beautiful songs.
TP rocks. Love his songs in general, but, particularly his songs of the South. Great songwriter. Dig the drummer on this one - so effortless. Saw him several times at the Fox in Atlanta back in the day ... excellent. I hear their new one, MOJO, is particularly good.

There is a recent article in the Wal Street Journal (really) about Tom Petty asking is his a "Rock G-d" or a "mere mortal."
Songs like this make it pretty clear that it's the former. I don't have a link for the article, but it makes for good reading.
