I liked the video but there was some strange background noise & i can't figure out how to reinstate the ribbon to its original position at the top of the screen...
i was wondering if u can make all the commands here in 2009 by simply typing it in to the command line like the old versions instead of hunting the icons for the commands? anyone can help? pls reply your very much appreciated.. thanks!!
I'm glad adsk finally made this change...the 2009 version at last addresses the organizational and non-rudimentary complaints that so many people have had over the years. Personally I don't agree with those complaints but this was a HUGE public relations move and it will only help to draw more people toward acad.
Anyone that does serious AutoCAD drafting will find this feature just plain silly. It's still way faster to draft from the command line instead of hunting for toolbar buttons. Even the few that I use are just that: few. I customize my toolbar with just what I normally need. Nothing else. Most of this stuff is for the novice that doesn't know what they're doing.
how to hide and reveal the ribbon?

even if you minimize the ribbon there's that dead space left over, how can you expand the actual drawing window itself?

nevermind. you just type ribbon to open it (if you accidently closed it) and then drag it to the top of the screen...

thanks for posting your videos, but it's very hard to understand and there is also background noise...you might want to check it out, and redo it.

I'm new to 2009. Anyone knows how to switch to the black screen.

try "Options" , "Display" tab, "Colors" button, then set the 2D & 3D background colors to whatever you want.

i agree....use the commands to get the job done. instead of playing with buttons all day.
way to many menues and buttons. unproductive i think.

I don't really like the Ribbon implementation. I wish they would give an option to revert to the classic look.
AlphaRussOmega 3 years ago
There is: switch to the "AutoCAD Classic" workspace to go back to the pre-2009 menu style.
Cadapult 3 years ago
Yup, you're right. After playing around with the menu, I found that option. Thanks!

I hate the looks of AutoCAD-2009 I cant beleive they changed to the Office 07 format. I think I will stick with 07 or 08 for as long as I can lol.
