Well ill probably play the game over again after i beat it to obtain the Zodiac Spear, just one question though. How did people figure out what the "forbidden" chests were?
Finally finished this with a party consisting of level 23's... so frustrating. I found it easier to exit through the Deadlands instead of going back the way you came, because the immobilize trick was practically useless in the last room I needed to exit to get back to the Salikawood. It was useless because there were enemies all around on the minimap close to my immobilized person and to me, so the trick didn't work.
I read in a guide that the only treasure chests that I should not open in the Royal cellar are the two in the south east corner of the room. Is this true?
Also, do you know if in the game you can go back to the Nalbina Dungeon? I want to make sure I did not pick up the treasure chest in the Confiscatory. (I can't remember if I took it or not. I hate being paranoid!)
@TheMightyElo Not only, there's others. Parts of Nalbina Dungeon can't be entered, especially the part where the chests can't be opened. So go to Necrohols to find out if you get ZS or not.
It is alot easier to remove all weapons and have your health at 1500+ on inleast 3 characters. ( Also have an armor that equips auto-protect like the one you get from mount Bur Omisace).

i was wondering if it was possible to make a run for the spear at this point in the game. i felt like an idiot watching this video because all my characters are level 35+, with nearly all their augments on the license board obtained, including each character having all their quickenings. my strategy was god awful, but this is amazing. thank you for this vid!
A good way to shake the mobs loose is to use Nihopalaoa + Chronos Tear and freeze the mobs.....but I suggest saving that when you've reached the Zodiac Spear zone and then freeze all the Evlorets.

yes....if you dont want to spend 3x the # of hours grinding, just train with a single person so instead of having 15 xp divided against 3 ppl (so 5 xp each) your single person gets all 15...so its faster to train. Take this information from someone who spends more hours than he should grinding
I don't know if this'll be enough to get through but vaan is lvl 60 and basch is lvl 48 and ashe is lvl 7 and they are all equiped with Francisca(axe) it does 89 damage

Mmmm some things that help: Float for traps, or iron boots, the better shield availabel, a main gauche, ALL shield block augments, bubble belt or gauntlets for blocking, protect, and vanish. Those gambits and a decentl to low level should do it.
I remember managing to get the spear at a stupidly low level. even lower than this, its all a matter of reviving and running, and managing to kill that king bomb with that amulet that reverses Items, mixed with remedy.
i hate how i have all lvl 99, did every quest, have over million gil, killed every mark even yiazimat, have practiacally every weapon.

You can get Bubble as early as before Jahara I think. I couldn't remember exactly but if you complete enough hunts then you can buy it in the clan shop.
two words for running after the zodiac spear-bubble belt
if you have them it's very very easy because you have so much more hp
and you can do this at low levels as well easily as long as you have good luck at fleeing, just remember the trip back is mostly harder than the trip there, and DON'T touch the save crystal in the Nabreus Deadlands unless you can beat a really strong crystal bug
I dont understand....All of my people are level 99 and I equipped Fran with the Diamond Armlet and I went to the Zodiac Spear Location the chest was there but all it contained was Dark Matter I tried resetting it and then going after it again and still the same thing I've done this 5 times
i didnt have trouble w/ this at a party average of 19 (they all were lvl 19 lol) the king bomb was easy since i had niho and i just ran like a maniac to survive the necrohol tho lol
Trying to survive the Necrohol at level 30 was great. I'd been LP farming and had all HP augments, though, so I was getting 2-hit deaths instead of 1-hit. I'm really curious how you beat King Bomb though. I had a hell of a time with him.
If there's no chest in the room he picks up the spear in, then you touched one of the chests you weren't supposed to earlier in the game. In that case, this 100% chance Zodiac Spear is gone forever and your only option is a 1/1000 chance spear in Henne Mines (though you can manipulate the random number generator to make it almost guaranteed).
It's very complicated, but it involves tampering with the PS2's internal RNG (Random Number Generator) by following very formulaic sets of actions, and someone figured out how to exploit it.

It's still possible to get the Zodiac Spear -- in fact, it's still possible to get an unlimited amount of them. You won't be able to get it for a while, but after a some sidequests you'll be able to gain access to a hidden sector of Henne Mines.
Inside this portion of the mines, there is a chest that has an overall chance of 1/1000 to spawn and contain the ZS simultaneously. It may sound daunting, but we have just discovered how to exploit the PS2's RNG and virtually bypass the luck factor.

Yeah dude I totally agree with you there. What I do is try to keep my dustia file even with my current one, but im on 66 and 61 on the dustia one. Its a real pain in the ass, and I have noticed how fast you can level up when you have embroided tippet in giruvegan, but I dont want to have to wait until I reach the near end of the game to be that strong. I wanna start at 99 so I can start a new game anytime I want! And smoke lots of weed!!!!
LOL! When i first got ZS I first got a lot of Knots of rust adn some gil before I found it XD. Was near death but doesnt matter. BTW: Kaddy, I noticed that you got 2 Deathbringers equipped. Why didnt you get yourself Celbrans Mitres and Dragon Mails??? With those equipped they would hit around 300-500 or something. It would have been much easier. Of course, getting them on those lvl standards would also cost a few gil but it would definitly be easier. + You could aslo get Zalera if you wanted.
True, but going through that is worse than doing it this way. To get those equipment, it would take a lot of resets, and the enemies in there are almost as bad as this place. Also read the annotations for the Deathbringer vid. I stated other reasons
I already messed up on the Zodiac Spear but I think I know where not to open chests, don't open any in the castle basement, in the place where you get your equipment back, somewhere on the Phon Coast and one other place...I think it was ummmm, in I have no clue does anyone know?

I dont understand....All of my people are level 99 and I equipped Fran with the Diamond Armlet and I went to the Zodiac Spear Location the chest was there but all it contained was Dark Matter I tried resetting it and then going after it again and still the same thing I've done this 5 times

You must open the Zodiac chest without a Diamond Armlet. Else you will get an Dark Matter instead of an Zodiac Spear

I did everything, and when i got there, the second chest was gone ! sucks for me, i touch one of the no touch, ohhh well ! sucks big time !

i didnt have trouble w/ this at a party average of 19 (they all were lvl 19 lol) the king bomb was easy since i had niho and i just ran like a maniac to survive the necrohol tho lol

the easiest way to defeat King Bomb is with quickenings, and getting zodiac spear isnt so diffulct after all...

Trying to survive the Necrohol at level 30 was great. I'd been LP farming and had all HP augments, though, so I was getting 2-hit deaths instead of 1-hit. I'm really curious how you beat King Bomb though. I had a hell of a time with him.

If there's no chest in the room he picks up the spear in, then you touched one of the chests you weren't supposed to earlier in the game. In that case, this 100% chance Zodiac Spear is gone forever and your only option is a 1/1000 chance spear in Henne Mines (though you can manipulate the random number generator to make it almost guaranteed).

It's very complicated, but it involves tampering with the PS2's internal RNG (Random Number Generator) by following very formulaic sets of actions, and someone figured out how to exploit it.
That someone can be found on his video entitled "Zodiac Spear from the Henne Mines - Guaranteed". Watch him get the ZS in under 8 minutes. Don't believe us? Learn how to do it and try it yourself.

Me as well. Its bullshit. Im not even going to bother. Im starting over soon. I just wanna learn all the tricks of the other espers and the zs crap in henne mines as well as here. Plus I wanna find ultima, which I know is going to suck ass with the great crystal. Sitting in front of a youtube video to see where to go for 2 minutes, going to do it in the other room. repeat until you find it. AHHH!!!!!

It's still possible to get the Zodiac Spear -- in fact, it's still possible to get an unlimited amount of them. You won't be able to get it for a while, but after a some sidequests you'll be able to gain access to a hidden sector of Henne Mines.
Inside this portion of the mines, there is a chest that has an overall chance of 1/1000 to spawn and contain the ZS simultaneously. It may sound daunting, but we have just discovered how to exploit the PS2's RNG and virtually bypass the luck factor.

man this is what i was talking about in the last vid. I got here at level 60 and got my ass kicked so I ran away, but it was the first time I ever found it and it was on my second time around playing the game. I felt so retarded.

well i can help to use immobilize trick but its hard to use because ur ally doesnt need to be on ur mini map(or stop)
ofc get niph like him and just throw an chronos tear on an ally to make it stop then run like crazy and when ur far enough switch real quicke to ur other ally and back
the enemy's are gone:D

nvm buddy, thanks for the advice but i figured it out. I tried to get zs, but i got one of the chests i wasnt supposed to touch. its ok, ill get it when i start over the third time around. im jsut learning the tricks. at least i got chaos last night! and im up to 65. which sucks, cuz now i have to go from 60 to 65 chaining dustia in my other file. ugh. 130 kills for one level. bullshit.

look at the begin thats ok but after u get giruvegan i can go from lvl 65 to lvl 99 in 1 and an half hour
only running in the first 2 zones after u owned that headless dude;p
or at pharos great lvling aswell;p

Yeah dude I totally agree with you there. What I do is try to keep my dustia file even with my current one, but im on 66 and 61 on the dustia one. Its a real pain in the ass, and I have noticed how fast you can level up when you have embroided tippet in giruvegan, but I dont want to have to wait until I reach the near end of the game to be that strong. I wanna start at 99 so I can start a new game anytime I want! And smoke lots of weed!!!!

LOL! When i first got ZS I first got a lot of Knots of rust adn some gil before I found it XD. Was near death but doesnt matter. BTW: Kaddy, I noticed that you got 2 Deathbringers equipped. Why didnt you get yourself Celbrans Mitres and Dragon Mails??? With those equipped they would hit around 300-500 or something. It would have been much easier. Of course, getting them on those lvl standards would also cost a few gil but it would definitly be easier. + You could aslo get Zalera if you wanted.

True, but going through that is worse than doing it this way. To get those equipment, it would take a lot of resets, and the enemies in there are almost as bad as this place. Also read the annotations for the Deathbringer vid. I stated other reasons

I already messed up on the Zodiac Spear but I think I know where not to open chests, don't open any in the castle basement, in the place where you get your equipment back, somewhere on the Phon Coast and one other place...I think it was ummmm, in I have no clue does anyone know?
