Indeed, but I think he eventually forgot this was his original motivation. When fighting Sasuke in Part 2, Sasuke asks him if he even has a reason for his actions anymore. I think Orochimaru eventually lost sight of what he was even after in the first place. Just like Sasuke is doing right now......
