Space sims could still be pretty good on consoles, Colony Wars was/ is a brilliant Franchise, but Sony won't revisit it again, I know I would love to have an overhaul for FreeSpace SCP, or even help make it myself, I think it depends on how in-depth you want to go, as Colony Wars had you as a merc, for example.

@ross817 X3 Terran Conflict is both a space simulator and a strategy game. It is ridiculously complex, it feels like you have to get a college degree to get into it. Check it out if it sounds interesting.
Talking about Space Games, there's this indie RTS by the name of Star Ruler. It is incredibly complex and the ship editor alone is incredibly fun to tinker around with. You can build ships from the size of an X-Wing to the size of a FREAKING STAR SYSTEM!
And you can have hundreds upon hundreds of ships! The tactical and strategical depth is truly staggering and even the easiest AI can and will kick your ass.
@Gasert666 Well, X3:Reunion continues on Julian Brennan's story, while X3:TC is around the conflict named Terran Conflict. Both are really awesome games, but Reunion's interface is a pain in the ass. Story is top notch though, absolutely fantastic. TC's interface is a massive stepup from Reunion, but it doesn't have a "main" story. But, still remains that the games are the best space sims since Wing Commander.

All I can really say here is that, well, i'm a console gamer. Games that are difficult must either be addicting enough to keep players going, or be fun enough to move players past their failures. Demons Souls used a little of both to maintain a steady audience, but did not have to appeal to other genre gamers since they already had action rpg gamers waiting for another title.

Freeform twitch space-sim with some extremely impressive visuals (I'm not just talking about pretty textures, the guy who made the engine is nothing short of genius). I must say. I never really had any interest in Demon Souls, partly due to the fact that it's a PS3 exclusive but after I heard about the atmosphere, the combat and the fact that there are small details like the bell in the gong tower that actually make you feel something as opposed to being a gimmicky. This has made me a lot more interested in Dark Souls. They look like they really know what they're doing :)

@Solidus1086 What you might need to understand is that when you trade these items in, GAME needs to re-sell those items and still make a profit. So they have to slap a pre-owned price on the stuff, which will be lower than the current new price, and that itself could have possibly dropped in two months you've had them.
To get around half of what you payed two months in is probably a good deal. I wouldn't be complaining.
@SvDKILLSWITCH I guess i lost the most from the bloody nintendo price drop since i bought my 3ds before it got reduced by 60 pounds and they don't care about the ambassador games at trade in.
The reason i complain about the 1/2 price is because they tend to sell the latest preowned games and consoles at about 10-20% discount when compared to new games, i get them wanting to make a profit but getting about 1/2 price back and not even in cash but just store credit is a bit crazy.
Rage has locked settings? I mean, it has NO settings? That's outrageous!!! I don't care about 60fps, 30-40 is fine for me. What if my grafics card is not detected? I had that issue with the settlers 7. I was forced to MINIMUM specs due to a bug that limited my options. Such things are disgusting. I want my freedom. I believe that the reason why they lock it to 60fps could also be because they are overly cautious of what criticisms they may face if they allow a broader range, or it could even be a problem of bugs with different frame rates so they locked it maybe to do more work on the game then release a patch.
My one great hope at the moment is that Blizzard's "Project Titan" ends up being an Elite/Freelancer style game, I'm sure they'll find a way to destroy my hopes mind :(
Well on geforce.com there is now a fix to unlock the higher textures in the game. It's right on the front page under How To Unlock Rage's High Resolution Textures With A Few Simple Tweaks.
i got x terran conflict a few months ago played it didn't understand it at all and i recently started playing it again its amazing i can basically set up auto trading ships go to sleep wake up with a pile of credits and then put that into more trade ships or warships for my devious plans >:P
@akatsukilord12 because the top-level content go redundant and boring. it's just ZA/ZG over and over and over again. even the raiding can get boring after a while. my guild has 5/7 FL on heroic, and although that is exciting for us, we are often on hold, because we are constantly trying to help lowbies lvl up to 85, only to get them to do the same, boring process of gearing up. only this time, you have to do it with them.
While games today are trying to be like Hollywood movies, submissive things who exist to "tell stories" and to provide audio-visual masturbation, Dark Souls does the exact opposite, it harkens back to what gaming actually is and to me the industry is forgetting.
TB, I hope you are playing/planning to play Dark Souls.
It's seriously the best game I played in this generation, it's a proper evolution and incarnation of OLD SCHOOL GAMING, it brings the sense of wonder and excitement that was lost.
I feel like when I was a kid playing Zelda 1 for the first time on the NES, it makes me tingle in excitement and I want to make an actual journey to document my adventures in the world, it's so good it encourages things like this, you make your story.

About Demon Souls, I don't think its very difficult. I played trough Demons Souls with a lvl 8 charackter. 1 hit and i am dead.

no way, me and my girlfriend where literally just saying yesterday how we want much harder games to come back :) (one of the reasons to being a final fantasy fan). We wana see bosses coming back that are near impossible and actually require some logic and strategy, so that it is more rewarding when you finally beat it.

@Solidus1086 What you might need to understand is that when you trade these items in, GAME needs to re-sell those items and still make a profit. So they have to slap a pre-owned price on the stuff, which will be lower than the current new price, and that itself could have possibly dropped in two months you've had them.
To get around half of what you payed two months in is probably a good deal. I wouldn't be complaining.

@SvDKILLSWITCH I guess i lost the most from the bloody nintendo price drop since i bought my 3ds before it got reduced by 60 pounds and they don't care about the ambassador games at trade in.
The reason i complain about the 1/2 price is because they tend to sell the latest preowned games and consoles at about 10-20% discount when compared to new games, i get them wanting to make a profit but getting about 1/2 price back and not even in cash but just store credit is a bit crazy.

Rage has locked settings? I mean, it has NO settings? That's outrageous!!! I don't care about 60fps, 30-40 is fine for me. What if my grafics card is not detected? I had that issue with the settlers 7. I was forced to MINIMUM specs due to a bug that limited my options. Such things are disgusting. I want my freedom. I don't want some overly self-confident developper forcing me to what HE thinks is best.

I believe that the reason why they lock it to 60fps could also be because they are overly cautious of what criticisms they may face if they allow a broader range, or it could even be a problem of bugs with different frame rates so they locked it maybe to do more work on the game then release a patch.
Though that's about all i have.

i got x terran conflict a few months ago played it didn't understand it at all and i recently started playing it again its amazing i can basically set up auto trading ships go to sleep wake up with a pile of credits and then put that into more trade ships or warships for my devious plans >:P

@akatsukilord12 because the top-level content go redundant and boring. it's just ZA/ZG over and over and over again. even the raiding can get boring after a while. my guild has 5/7 FL on heroic, and although that is exciting for us, we are often on hold, because we are constantly trying to help lowbies lvl up to 85, only to get them to do the same, boring process of gearing up. only this time, you have to do it with them.
bottom line, wow can get real boring, real fast.

While games today are trying to be like Hollywood movies, submissive things who exist to "tell stories" and to provide audio-visual masturbation, Dark Souls does the exact opposite, it harkens back to what gaming actually is and to me the industry is forgetting.

TB, I hope you are playing/planning to play Dark Souls.
It's seriously the best game I played in this generation, it's a proper evolution and incarnation of OLD SCHOOL GAMING, it brings the sense of wonder and excitement that was lost.
I feel like when I was a kid playing Zelda 1 for the first time on the NES, it makes me tingle in excitement and I want to make an actual journey to document my adventures in the world, it's so good it encourages things like this, you make your story.
