I am German and also did my pilot license in Germany - close to Frankfurt. The airport is called Egelsbach.

I am not sure about the rules in the States but in Germany young guys like you who aspire to be a pilot often start with flying gliders...

especially because you can start earlier...I think that is a fantastic start for a career as a pilot. Furthermore it easier to finance if you go to a local glider flying club and gives you the confidenc that you are made for flying :) All the best and always happy landings, tailswinds and blue skies for you.
