  • cool

but your sniffing was louder than the didge!

its not always a good idea to get stoned before ya make a video...haha!

  • Nice!Thank alootttttt I hope can play good same like u soon:-)

  • Thanks for explaining the fundamentals. You're very good!

  • yeahh

  • dude lol thats awesome, make it to a pipe then smoke and play at the same time on next video

  • Dude you are SO high. The instructional part was just as confusing as you were confused... but I understood ya. The part where you just played was killer. Almost sounded like a metal guitar riff. I like your style. Keep on smokin!

  • yea playing didj is always funny D

  • that vid is OFF DA CHAIN!!!!!! u really helped alot. Thanks bro. Keep it up. Maaaaaad funny too.

  • Thank you.

  • Digjeridon't forget to didjeriedoo.

  • You are silly.

  • tell the truth, that ain't a didj, it's a giant joint LMAO!

  • What are you talking about?

  • "fill up your air with cheeks" hahaha

  • DOH! LOL.

  • Hey, the water and straw technique works best if you take a mouthful of water and blow it through the straw with your cheeks whilst taking a breath with your nose. This will not teach you how to keep your lung bag full when your playing but it will help a beginner get their head around what they are trying to tell their epiglottis to do.

  • I have a new video focused just on circular breathing now.

  • hehehe

  • what have you been smoking?

  • This guy has to be fried lol

  • i need more help on circular breathin lol i suck. i am aboriganal and got a nice didgeridoo n can make the noise just cant do brethin

  • haha, this guy seems stoned.

  • I have one but I'm having trouble playing it, great instructional video, thanks for posting this.

  • You're very welcome!

  • DUDE SLICK Dij How much it cost you?

  • I got a good deal on it, for 250 USD, but, it's probably worth $400 to $500 because of the art on it.

  • lool my djid was 20euros

  • must suck then

  • that v good man

  • Need to get myself a Diji so I can try this out.

  • Oh, yeah. You can make one out of a PVC pipe, and some beeswax.

  • Hello again, since you're such a nice guy, and you allways seem to respond, I have another question. I bought a new awesome real didge, and I am able to play way longer than before. But in the mean time, I am obviously not able to swollow the spit, and it leaks out of the end of the didge or of of my chin, lol. You happen to have a solution for that :P

  • Hey, congratulations on your new didge! Well, spit is part of playing. Wind instruments get a lot of spit in them. I have found a way to not salivate so much. I just don't think about it too much. Sometimes, if I feel my mouth filling with saliva, I just stop playing for a second to swallow it. I use breath spray or mouthwash around the mouthpiece to kill the germs, so it doesn't smell like bad breath.

  • Thanx once again ^^

  • thanks man that helped me alot

  • you're welcome bro.

  • you blow real good.

  • Thanks. I try. It also helps to stroke it as you play it, it seems to help it vibrate.

  • this is the best so far, and im glad were high.

  • LOL. Rock on brother, and thanks.

  • how fuckin high are you

  • that was awesome dude, i was listening 2 didj music in my music class and i found it amazing, this was amazing 2!

  • You high motherfucker. Thanks for the lesson. I'm just starting out, and it's pretty helpful.

  • You are welcome abstractionist, you high motherfucker.

  • Hi, I commented on your video before, that you could teach me how to circular breath in no time, but! now I'm experiencing another problem. Now that I can play way longer, my lips turn incredibly fat! It looks and feels very weird, am I using a wrong technique, or is this pretty common?

  • Your lips are swelling because of the vibration. After I had been playing for about a year, my lips stopped swelling up. It's like guitar players' calluses, kind of.

  • Thanx man, you should become a teacher!

  • hi i still dont understand how to circular breathe (the sound to compinsate for your breathe) don't understand

  • You might just be overthinking it. At first, when I actually did understand it, I felt like I did not understand it, until I could actually do it. Understand?

  • I want to thank you for this video! I just bought a didj, and this video is much easier to understand than a lot I've seen out there.

  • Cherisethegirl, thank you.

  • oh i love it xD

  • So if you've got a blocked nose you're a bit fucked.

Such a good sound, love it.

  • i have chronic sinus problems (a deveiated serum) and i find playing clears up my sinuses really well after about 5 mins even if i have a shocking cold im all cleared up!

  • bassdudewill, i also have a deviated septum. I think the vibrations help to vibrate the mucous out. Heheh

  • wow your didgeridoo is gonna be diseased hahaah

  • Oh, that is why you gotta clean it out. Oh yeah.

  • yer dude, i dont share it much...

  • that v good man

  • this guy is such a stoner :-D good video.

  • What makes you think that. hehe. thanks bro

  • i made a didj out of pvc pipe and a vitamin water and i own with it

  • All my first didj's were PVC in the beginning. That is cool that you made one. Get a good hardwood one when you can afford it. You will sound 10x better.

  • Nice video, I learned to circular breathe after 2 days of owning a Dij, now I;ve had it for 4 days and I can do it fine! I leanred from this video and a few others, thanks!

  • dude you seem kinda high

I wonder if smoking increases your lung compacity so it's easier to play the didj.

  • I don't think smoking does, but running increased the size of my chest by two inches, and my pecs did not get bigger, so it had to be lung capacity. Playing does increase lung capacity, though.

  • Thanks for this Video,I always wanted to know, how to play that instrument.

It looks hard to play, but I think,it´s only a matter of practiceing

  • thks. your circular breathin demo seemed clearer to me that other lessons i heard. however i don't the letter sound concept ie m, n, o etc

  • didjeboy54, those are "true" representations of the letters. You shape your mouth similarly to the mouth shape you make you say when you make those letters, but not exactly.

  • Thank you very much! Thanks to your video, my circular breathing got better all of a sudden! And I´ve only been playing the didge for 2 days now! You´re great ^^. Thank you thank you thank you =D

  • Boogieforme, that is awesome that you can circular breathe after two days! It took me about 5 or 6 weeks!

  • nice vid! i'm getting a didj soon so I can play it in my experimental metal band and this vid will help!

  • When playing didjeridoo with Western music, you must keep in mind that all didjeridoos are naturally tuned to a certain key. That didjeridoo will only harmonize with songs played in that key. But, good luck. Also, know that it takes years of practice just to be okay at it.

  • it will also harmonize well with songs where it is the dominant.

  • Good video, but you seem a little nervous, calm down, no one is going to judge you

  • Oh thanks. I wasn't nervous. It's just hard to switch from playing didj mode to speaking mode. They are two completely different mindsets.

  • Yeah thats true, Play Didj is a lot more relxing and calm, talking is a lot less fun

  • Great video. Nice that you are sharing the knowledge. Check out Dr Didg and Xavier Rudd here on youtube. Great stuff. Sadly Dr Didg doesnt tour much anymore, but Xavier is going to be all over this summer. Highly recomend seeing his show.

  • Someone burned me a copy of Dr. Didj. I didn't care for his music too much personally. Most didj music I like is traditional stuff. Dr. Didj did not have any "soul' which, of course, is unquantifiable.

  • Thanks, no one has explained this to me before....

  • You're welcome!

  • very helpful, thanks

  • (Second part of the previous comment.)

Second, "making consonants"... There's absolutely no way to make an 'n' and still have your lips vibrating. The reason for this, is that when you produce a nasal (like, m, n and ng (as in 'ping'), you completely cut off the air-stream through the mouth and lead the air through the nasal cavity (thus 'nasals'), so there'll be no air to make the lips vibrate.

  • you're a freakin dickweed, it's a demonstration of how to move your tounge dipshit.

  • Wow! What an amazingly insightful and useful comment. I gotta reflect on that for a minute or two...

  • Good point. None of the consonants are going to be completely literal. I hope everyone understands they are all variations on a theme. If they were literal, then it you could make a speech while playing the didgeridoo, and inspire people to revolution.

  • Haha! That'd be awesome. :)

  • Two things... (In two comments. Sorry about that.)

First, a good way to practice circular breathing is to take a glass of water and a straw (eg. a silly straw, if you want some entertainment while practicing), put the straw in the water and start blowing bubbles in the water. When you can make a continuous stream, you can move on to the didgeridoo, which requires a bit more air.

  • I disagree with doing the blowing-a-continuous-stream-of-bubbles-into-water-through- a-straw technique because a didjeridoo has a completely different feel to it. For doing that, the whole shape of your mouth is very different. Also you don't need a visual to know your circular breathing, since with a didj, you can hear yourself doing it.

  • oh i'll never learn circulate breath.i'm too impatient.very nice video.well i'll have to learn hard since i can play like this...

    nice greets from germany...

  • Are there a lot of didj players in Germany?

  • Well I think there aren't a lot of players here. But fortunately there are some...

  • the didj is something i have always been able to drift off to. now, with luck, i will be able to take your simple lessons and give others the same soothing feeling i often feel. thanks!!

  • I think in all aboriginal cultures women are not allowed to touch a finished Didj. I've heard that women can make them in some tribes but they are not allowed to touch completed ones. Aboriginal Elders were outraged about 10+ years ago when the Australian Priminister gave one to Madonna who was there on tour and visiting.

  • Look at the video description. I added some information on the topic of women playing the didjeridoo.

  • Thanks for the reply! I read it. I spent three weeks in Victoria back in 1995. I tried to find out what I could about the Aboriginal culture on my own, my host showed me a few places that were sacred land etc... but that was the extent of it.

  • Right on, man. Your method of teaching circular breathing is basically the only one that actually makes any sense to me.

  • i can't do the circular breathing! i try but i make a awfull sound! at least i can do the rest! great video! i'll just keep practicing! peace

  • thanks! this film really helped a lot!

  • That's amazing!

Sadly, I'm 18 and I just saw a didjeridoo for the first time today. I knew what it was right away too. Too bad I didn't have the money on me to get one.

Hehe, how come you don't see girls playing didj?

  • In some Aboriginal cultures, women are not allowed to play. That is probably part of it.

  • is there any Aboriginal cultures where women are allowed to play? did not know that. check out ididj for true information

  • Aren't women allowed play casually but not at ceremonies?

  • Google it. I just don't want to give you the information, because I am just an American didj player not a anthropologist or historian.

  • you can see it in your eyes!

  • Good show! I am going to my "didge" now and I will be listening to this again and again. May blessings shower upon you. You are a good teacher.

  • nice one! thank you for posting this

  • you're welcome!

  • you are bent!!

  • men a can't heard the difference with the letters

  • It's probably coz I have a cheesy cam/mic combo. Hear someone do it live and you can. Try it yourself.

  • You was stoned? Nice video :P

  • What makes you think that? ;)

  • Awesome, I'm practicing right now!

  • Great! The secret is practicing. A lot.

  • hey, i just got a didg, how to you make the didge noise while doing the circular breathing? All i get is a crappy non-didg noise cause my lips are tight but if i try to do the noise all the air in my mouth rushes out in one burst. I can do the circular breathing but just not get the right sound while doing it. lemme know asap.

  • I say how in the video. hehheh

  • Practice, I made a PVC one to see if it will help with my apnea. Circular I picked up quick without the didj, but I have the same problem you do with the didj. However, after almost a month, I'm actually starting to get something resembling a didj noise with my cheeks.

  • may be due to wrong proportions of your didj - especially the mouthpiece... try to make the breathing in shorter, so you don't have to maintain the sound for long. actually, don't breathe in, rather gasp shortly. besides : practice, practice, practice, practice, ...

  • You're welcome! Some people catch on pretty quick, others take longer. It took me about two weeks before I did it once, and about seven months before it felt second nature.

  • How much practice before you got the circular breathing down?

  • About 3 weeks before I could do it once. About two months before I could do it in a song. About seven months before it became second nature.

  • Thanks for the reply...I guess it's practice, practice, practice.

  • What material is your Didj made from? Teak or Eucalyptus? They also make them from Bamboo but I don't think yours is judging by the color.

  • I don't know! I was told eucalyptus, but, I'm not sure. Bamboo is the worst material for didj's. They split when the humidity changes, and they resonate like a sponge.

  • So cool. I haven't gotten the circular breathing down yet, but I got the just of it. Thanks! ^^
