Overall this is the best bike trail in the bham metro area and by far the nicest park for family and friend gatherings, kayaking and many other outdoor activities. decent fishing also.
I have ridden this loop multiple times and it's a fun ride. Many parts challenge a rider's physical endurance.
I do prefer Swayback Trail though. It's exciting parts happen with less time between them, so there's more "bang for your buck." Both are great trails though. Definitely worth checking out if you're anywhere in AL.
if you think this trail isnt exciting enough then just go find other videos that give you a little chubby for some of us who have mortgages and families we would rather stick to less suicidle trails so we make it home in one piece. It should be required that parents keep their kids from making comments on here.
Dude you are the definition of idiot. Do you know how much more skill it take to do a downhill on a hardtail? I think they are called moutainbikes for a reason, not downhill bikes. I own both hardtail and full suspension. I prefer my hardtail in 95% of situations, downhills are fun, but do not require as much all round skill as a technical cross country...I bet you don't even understand proper shifting. Stop posting moronic comments, and go learn how to ride for real.
Hi, i'm a dh/freerider. Its true that xc takes highly technical riding such as propr shifting and just gettin over sketchy places with min travel bike, but no need for bashing us dhers. I do AM riding so I understand the mostpart of xc-ish riding. downhillers have skill to like jumping, proper weight placement, high speed control, and the most important we take some of the harshest impacts whether its a rock garden or a road gap. Plz dont bash all of us just the idiot tht made fun of xc.
Yes I agree down hilling does require skill...I guess I am really getting tired of uneducated riders, who think that full suspension is the only way to go, it's kids like nagelk I see ridding down the street on their $2000 Kona dual susp....and thats all they do, they ride around showing off their expensive bike, but I guarantee 90% of them have never rode a technical trail in their lives!! I'm sorry, but we get these kids all the time at the shop, and it's hard for me to bite my tounge!!!
yeah...lol i have a transition dirtbag (i still take it on the am rides b/c im not a rider that has enuf for 2 bikes) and i rarely ride my bike around town. The only town i ever take it out is for a trail ride or like hitting a jump we just built, etc. My bike rarely sees road time except for when im doing maintenance and want to see how it does. I can understand.
Unfortunately, you are stuck with rollers in the southeast. You could go down the Red Road at Oak Mountain for some downhill but it won't be like you see out west or in Europe.
i rode this trail last year thought it would easy found out i was wrong but that was becouse i was riding it for the first time. i'm only 12 and have a trek 220. could probley go back and do it again and be alright.
You have to read this!! you won't believe it!!! don't stop now!! make a wish - - - - - - - . . . . . Now that you have your wish it will happen! in exclatly 4 days. just copy this and paste it to 4 videos!! only one wish use it wisely and it WILL HAPPEN!!! but if you break the chain your wish will be the opposite
No offense, but that doesn't look that technical to keep dropping your foot all those times at the beginning of the video. I wouldn't recommend Hamilton Creek in Nashville. If you can't make it up those rocks then you are definitely hiking most of our local trail.
oh my god i wish people who have never been to oak moutain would just shut the f up!!! You should know damn well you can't really tell what a course is like from a few minutes of a helmet cam! it's an 18 mile course and obviously only a little bit of it is shown here. I think the beauty of posting these kinds of videos is that people like me who have been there but don't live there can watch and relive their last trip and get excited about the next one.
Wow, calm down man! I kind of agree with SRAMblur, there was no reason to drop a foot on the first bit, nothing technical and not really a huge uphill either?! Yes I agree you can't judge a course from a short video, but at least post some exciting stuff, and get others pumped to ride it who haven't before! From this video, it looks like a course my grandma could ride! So chill out, and don't get mad because someone has an opinion bout the vid.
so did u read all the posts? this was a spirited conversation between me and one other person. I'm not a man and I'm not an elitist. Reak nagelk's posts. he sounds like a moron
because it's fun. because it's challenging. because i am not some downhill elitist. up hill is where the challenge is. can you do the service road all the way up from the north trail head without stopping? probably not
not fun. downhill is. challenging okay, but so is downhill. uphill is where the gay is and it really is no fun. downhill theres jumps and everything rather the just flat and uphil (wtf?). truth is, downhil/dirt jumps are more fun and x-country is for pussies and its boring
so what you are saying is that you can't make the long uphill climb so rather than admit that you have to say its stupid. i do both. now who's the pussy?
you, your the girl wow. not that i cant do it im in great shape im just saying its a waste of time and its boring as shit. you cant do both, you cant do downhill on those old man bikes you people ride. i would like to see you try to go downhill ahaha
old man bikes??? wtf?? i ride a mountain bike. duh. and who are 'you people'? and yeah i do both. i'm getting real tired of this conversation though. so see ya.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
that is NOT a mountain bike!! that would be a "road bike" or an "oldman bike" because they are pieces of shit. Dont call it a mountain bike though. Okay, you cant ride downhill, your a girl and you probably have you seat all the way up your hairy vag too. ahha you left the debate first because you lost it!!
how would you possibly know what my bike looks like? i don't even own a road bike! and i am not in the video idiot. and guess what--the guys in it are riding MOUNTAIN BIKES! geez you must be about 12 years old
Damn I miss hitting those trails. I used to be there 2-3 days a week. Man keep it up guys sweet video. MORE!!!! Previous comment yes it's hot here in Bama but worth it.
I love Oak Mtn. I've ridden a lot of different places, even out west...and mile for mile Oak Mtn is simply a great ride and I put it in my list of top 10 trails. If you are ever in B'Ham you gotta check it out.
