I remember hearing on the IDOL forum during this season, where someone who had a relative that worked for FOX said that they knew he was getting voted off and there was a strong rumor that said that they wanted him off the show because they knew he was TOO good to just be a winner and that he would be successful no matter what. That is why Clive picked him up so fast and gave him a contract because they knew he could make more money by getting voted off than winning.
