I'm sure Nightwish basically and originally has been based on Tarja's voice so the band has realized that with Anette they have to change style too at least a bit,because Anette's voice would never fit to the old Nightwish(symphonic metal) but apart from this no matter how good singer Anette is she's just not even close to Tarja(and I didn't talk about their look yet)
Tarja is not part Nightwish more. She is a great singer, if you like her listen to her songs and shut up. I like her, but I like Tuomas, Emppu, Marco more. Songs that are written for Tarja sound better if she sings them. Other ones, written for Anette, sound better if Anette sings them. The singer is important, but if Tuomas did not get idea and make band and did not write so beautiful songs neither Anette, nor Tarja would be so famous and popular. (srry for bad English ) :D \m/

They said that working with her had become impossible. I love Anette's vocals. I guess that puts me in the minority. I don't dislike Tarja, but sometimes her vocals put me off. As for the people that put down Anette, I think it's just sour grapes. The songs from the Tarja era are stronger, but Amaranth is very good.

@FantasmadiBardi But you can't really say Tarja's a better singer than Anette either. They may be singing for the same band, but their vocal styles and voice types are completely different. You can't expect two different types of singers to be do the same things as one another.
@FantasmadiBardi Yes, it requires years of learning and dedication to be able to be a classical singer. Tarja went to school for it and so she's a lot more technical with her singing which is all well and good. Anette takes lessons from time to time but is not trained in classical singing. I hate to say it because I love Tarja, but she's not even much of a classical singer herself nor does she even consider herself one. She's got a good classical voice but someone like Lori Lewis is more skilled

I think Anette has a great voice but she should not sing songs that were written for Tarja, she can't handle them. During this song she sings kind of false or out of tune. @charici I've noticed that Tarja actually has a bit of trouble reaching some of the lower notes that Anette can sing. Anette can sing high, but it's in a different part of her voice. Notice how the timbre of Anette's voice changes when she sings higher notes in studio. It's not that she can't sing high, she's just not using the right part of her voice when she sings live, and is straining her 'low' voice to try and reach the notes, instead of using her 'high' voice, hence the rough quality.

I understand that this video was made a while ago, but seriously ANETTE sucks and should never sing the songs that Tarja sang. This is an atrocity and the person who mixed this and made this should be ashamed.
Well Nightwish was create with and for Tarja.
But since Tarja left the band, Nightwish isn't nightwish anymore.
Of course Anette isn't a terrible singer, otherwise Tuomas wouldn't have chosen her.
But she's just not made to sing with nightwish.
Maybe in another group, but not this one.
That's why she's horrible when she's singing songs which were made for Tarja.

Well, few FACTS
Tarja = classically trained singer (soprano) who has studied classical singing very long time (since she was 6 years old)
and studied Sibelius Academy in Finland and Karlsruhe'nin Music University in Germany.
Original singer in Nightwish, outstanding live singer. strong , trained voice.
Anette = No trained singer. before NW, sung by an unknown Swedish pop/rock (AA) amateur band.
Bad live singer, weak voice, can not sing NW old songs.

Anette isnt a bad singer. The only thing wrong is that this song isnt meant for her type of voice. She sings beautiful but for her own songs that were made for her voice. @FantasmadiBardi Yes, it requires years of learning and dedication to be able to be a classical singer. Tarja went to school for it and so she's a lot more technical with her singing which is all well and good. Anette takes lessons from time to time but is not trained in classical singing. I hate to say it because I love Tarja, but she's not even much of a classical singer herself nor does she even consider herself one. She's got a good classical voice but someone like Lori Lewis is more skilled

I think Anette has a great voice but she should not sing songs that were written for Tarja, she can't handle them. During this song she sings kind of false or out of tune. @charici I've noticed that Tarja actually has a bit of trouble reaching some of the lower notes that Anette can sing. Anette can sing high, but it's in a different part of her voice. Notice how the timbre of Anette's voice changes when she sings higher notes in studio. It's not that she can't sing high, she's just not using the right part of her voice when she sings live, and is straining her 'low' voice to try and reach the notes, instead of using her 'high' voice, hence the rough quality.
