  • Lebanese mafia.

  • Security. Even so they are private citizens. He was talking about his rights with them. Now even though they asked him to be here, and he thought his rights were violated, they were not. Now the police officer who came and told him to leave or be arrested was a Charter violation. Because every single person in Canada has the right to peaceful assembly. Now peaceful assembly can also mean peaceful protest. Its the same thing, wether it is a lone protest, or if you are with many people.

  • Actually, although those rights are Canadian, they only apply to governmental functions Vs. Citizen, because this man was a Security Guard (no authority) he is a private citizen.

  • @tgrant4114

you want to elaborate on that? Who was the security guard?

  • This is from last year and yet the info section in the sign bar speaks of it as if this situation was created as a result of the current issue at hand. Doesn't this video feed an ignorant fire?

  • i love the guy chirping about all the rights and freedoms he has, but everyone he stated was in the american constitution, but we live in canada.... hmmm funny how people mess that up

  • Canadian Charter....

    Fundamental freedoms

    2. Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms:

    (a) freedom of conscience and religion;

    (b) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication;

    (c) freedom of peaceful assembly; and

    (d) freedom of association

What part of that is American???

Please explain where you get your rights.

  • my uncle is an auto worker and he lost is job he sucked it up and went to school for networking at St Clair and now he works at Yak and I asked him hows it going. He loves it he says he never knew the opportunities out there, he didn't know what "msconfig" meant, now he can rewire a whole computer as my old math teacher used to tell me "count your blessings, not your loses and move on"

  • so he was retrained

    great good for him

    guess who financed his retraining

    cupe workers

    and GM workers

    do you think you did?

you work under the table and pay nothing to this city

have your uncle go down to a picket and thank them for being there for him

  • gibert

you are exactly the type of person who is posting negative rants here

people who dont pay into the system

    work under the table

if we did it your way our infostructure would crumble just like your little brain

wake the hell up and realize you have no clue

that these people are the people that represent our community

cupe and autoworkers and all other hard working tax paying people are what make this city roll

you young people should support them because they are the only ones

  • that are fighting for your right to a good job adecent future

  • Give them what they want. You are a fool if you fall for the bs on tv. I don't see to many of us citizens picking up garbage in front of our own house let alone anywhere else. You who pollute and come down on workers to clean up. Set an example and clean up your own part of your own world.

  • k well here's my beef about this. I have been taking garbage from my fathers apartments for weeks, I do it for 10 bucks an hour and I'm happy to make that and I'm 20. you people want more and more. 20 bucks an hour for me doing what I do now (picking up wet trash sometimes covered! in maggots ripped open all over my truck) I'd be in heaven. You guys need a reality check, shits expensive, life isn't fair, so suck it up and do your job which is what I'm doing and getting about 1/4 of what you do.

  • 10 bucks an hour and what about if you get sick and what about insurance for your family and what about braces oh and groceries for 4 and tuition dont be an idiot at 20 you think 10 bucks an hour is a proper wage scale oh and of that ten bucks how much are you paying back to the system the one you say cant afford these jobs NOTHING so your cheating the system by working without paying for essential services

  • the problems arise when some feel they should make more and cant accomplish that in thier workplace so they look to others to say if i cant make that you shouldnt either

im a skilled traadesman in the auto motive industry

i have seen just about everyone around me ,even unskilled workers make more than me

but i dont complain because i know the more they make the more i make

that is just how it is

and until i work for the government or the big 3

    it will stay that way

    but i say goo cupe

  • what unions would like to see is EVERYONE be afforded benefits to take care of their family

and wages comparable to the job they do

now if you are in a union company you only make a wage thats comparable to the profits of that said company

contrary to what you read here all union people are not overpaid

i work in different plants fixing jobs

some they make 25 per hour as an operator

    some 13

  • your question about going to school..most jobs today require a minimum grade 12,so are you refering to post secondary?

the rules are not set up where if you get your grade 12 you get this much...college this much..university this much

    its not that simple

  • I have a question to any union crazy that can answer: Since you beleive high pay and lifetime benefits are justified for yourselves (1) What do you think professionals should make? (2) Do you see yourselves equal to those with Bachelor and Masters degree's? (3) If you can get paid decent money without education why go to school? (4) Do you think this utopian view of yours is realistic? (5) Why did USSR collapse?

  • people with bachelor or masters mez generally find them selves in very good ,high paying jobs with multiple perks far beyond the ones we are discussing

    things like auto mobiles

    cell phone accounts

accounts at high end restaurants etc

these are all on top of salaries which usually extend faaaaar beyond those who work ,actually do the manual work.

im not disputing them thats just the reality

    and good for them

  • OK. Thanks.

  • out of jobs yet? keep striking

  • you know...lol im confused

you hate the mayor..which i dont blame you for..but you hate unions ..which represent the middle class .the government main advisary

you say they work hand in hand

dude government spends every waking moment trying to destroy unions

looking at you here i feel you would make a great union brother

you have solidarity written all over you

just seems your too angry at everything

gotta give ya credit though for the protest

just wish you wouldnt swear so much

  • this city is so retarded... im so over it

    (i am from windsor...embarrassingly)

  • What do you think of the mayor now (with the garbage strike and all)???

  • Trespassing on public property? Thats new to me. Had you have been holding a vote for eddie sign you would have been fine. Good job man I am proud of you. Next time you want to stand up to this asshole message me I'll be right next to ya

  • I was on my way to jail if I didn't leave. I also have a clear as day audio recording. I was told LEAVE or be ARRESTED.

    That was my options.

  • What he did was legal. He was conducting a peaceful demonstration. That's why he didn't go to jail.

  • I'd like to shake that guys hand. It takes alot to do a solo protest like he did.

  • Unfortunately, the sound and video don't make it clear what happened (in my opinion). Also, the positioning of the sign would have obscured the view of the stage for people sitting behind. Might have had better luck right at the stage itself, where everyone could see both the stage and the sign, unobstructed. That said, Eddie and council's viewpoint discrimination has to stop. There's no citizen input. There's no debate. There's no accountability.

  • To think what was so offensive to Eddie..."Eddie and the Spenders" Pay raises at times like these? Shame! And local media refuses to cover a story that a local citizen is threatened with arrest for protesting government policy?????
