How many vividly recall that craving for sunshine and warmth of India after spending few months in dreary gray freezing winter in USA? This song generated a very powerful hope of greenery and spring around the corner and kept me going. I must have played this song hundreds of times in early seventies. What a beautiful feeling engendered by such a rich voice, simple music, and mesmerizing melody?
@rk10101 Wow! The same with my father too - his favourite during his college days in early forties. Unfortunately he is no more now. Would have been 86 too if he was alive! Thnx
Another PM gem. Thanks.( Too bad we don't have his YEH RAATEN YEH MAUSAM on video except in Lataji's voice. She is of course the goddess Saraswati herself and sings it beautifully, but this lyric in anyone else's voice doesn't sound as sweet as in PM's own rendition.)
He was Saigal Sahab's mentor and Guru - He was the one who could dare to slap Saigalji for not singing well and Saigal took it as a challenge and came out with an exceptional performance later on .
How many people really know about him, other than bengalis? He was the one who taught K.L. Saigal almost everything about Music while Saigal sahab was at Calcutta and sharing a room with Prithviraj Kapoor. And here you are comparing the Guru with his disciple. I don't mean to be petty and regional here, but it is true that the bengali contribution to the inception and flourishing of the early Indian & Hindi film industry has not been wilfully acknowledged.
Thank You. I had never thought that i would be able to see this song on video. surprising that the record version is different from this one. In the record version, Pankaj Mullick himself has sung the whole song.
The music director is Pankaj Mullick himself Ji. And thank you very much for all your extremely kind comments on the videos posted by me as well as on the videos Of me posted by my friend musiquebox.
This will live forever...
