im having a bit of trouble with the strumming pattern if theres anyway you could help me out on that that would be great. I really loved your video Great work im slowly getting it down its just the strumming im having trouble with. Thanks again!
You have a Wii, Sega Dreamcast, and a Super Nintendo in the background. And I thought no one plays SNES any more... with the exception of Irate Gamer, Angry Video Game Nerd, and ScrewAttack.
Now that that's out of the way...
Thank you for this video... I found out how to play this song with power chords, and, well... it doesn't sound right, and if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right.
Dave, I notice your fingers are slightly chubby, much like my own. How do you deal with 2fingers per fret on the higher notes without overflowing to the other frets?
*looking for something to trow for missing that note*
Seriously though. Thank you so much for posting these. I love J.C's songs and seeing a tutorial on how to play them will really help me. I'm really not so good with my chords so having it shown like this will really, really help :)
In some of JoCo's concerts for the chorus, he does E, something, Esus4, then back to E. Can you try to find out what he plays between the E and the Esus4?
what do you play to intro the verse about "code monkey hang around at front desk"?
the first verse and last verse use that bassy intro, but what does the second verse use? Just the E, B/E, A/E combo from the previous parts of the song? I'm watching other JoCo vids for reference.
He does the bass only part for the intro and the final verse. The rest of the verses are the E to B/E and A/E. The outro is the same thing as well. He does this part differently on different performances however, so this is just based on the chicago performance from 05/03
Not to complain - I love code monkey and am grateful that you did it - but couldn't we have gotten First of May today? (No I didn't think of it ahead of time either or I would have suggested it on the forums)
It's cool, but I already did first of may 3 weeks ago. It would've been cool to have it today but I chose the songs based on the votes from the forums.
Shit im givin this a try

@deadliestsin17 strumming was the hardest part for me to understand. He does strums up on both the B/E and the A/E
If it makes sense, it goes
DOWN up down up, down, UP, UP, down up down up down up
*repeat*
that help?

He used to play it differently live as I've seen. In the video you linked me to, he's using the following chords
E 022100
Emaj7 02110x
E6 022120

also, what does he play for the outro?
I'm using Gl3enn's Temple bar videos for reference, as well as other live performances.

ah, I see. so the Glenn vids' outro would be different from the Chicago ones, which could be different still from other videos.
oh well. to make it the performer's own, I guess.
cooljammer00 3 years ago
wow, the first song I can actually keep up with and play.
I guess I should go back to Big Bad World One to see that little hammer on dealie.

Congrats on your upcoming graduation! And thanks for the videos, they've really been helping me get a lot better at some of the tricker JoCo songs.
