grif99999 - part of the President's job is to provide some leadership to Congress. Also, if the Prez says I won't sign a certain kind of bill - Congress is stuck. Also, Bush encouraged an adversarial system where it was impossible to have a fair exchange of ideas. I voted for Obama - but we won't know if he's a great Prez until he has more time to be in action.

actually if the prez refuses to sign a bill congress isn't really stuck. if its something they really want, they can send the bill back to the house of rep, n if they can get 2/3 (67%) of the house to vote on it then they get to override the prez's veto. that happened alot to president johnson (i think) after he was impeached. he stayed in power but couldn't do squat, cuz pretty much the whole congress was against him n overrode his vetoes.

If you check you will find that it was Congress that directed Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae to make loans to people that the financial institutions said were now qualified. This is what has caused the financial crisis.  I think you did not do your homework or you would have not voted for Obama. He was in the Congress that had a lower approval rating than Bush did.

grig9999 - Problems with Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae go back before the last congress. Bush refused to enforce regulation. Failures of banks and Wall St are on Bush for being asleep at the switch. So far I'm happy with almost everything Obama's doing. The interview with a Muslim TV network on Monday - absolutely brilliant. Very smart strategic move in the war on terror. Telling people not to listen to Limbaugh - not so smart. His demographic of strident conservatives is shrinking, tho.

If you check you will find that Congress had a lot of influence over the war and creating the banking problems in the US. Obama ordered the closing of Gitmo. Where will the prisoners go? xilo I have a lot of respect for anyone that tries to learn as you obviously are. I think you need to find a mix of media to get an accurate picture. They all tend to tell half the story. I would suggest MSNBC and Fox. They are both biased but you get a better picture after watching both. Good luck!

grif9999- I agree a mix of media is the best to get a more fair and balanced point of view. I studied Journalism and the goal is to try and understand both sides. Eventually we need a media that plays it down the middle and is not as left and right. That's how news used to be - objective. I watch Fox, MSNBC and some CNN.
