I was at a yes concert at Seaworld two days after the killer whale attack the other year. They said there was one song they wouldn't play and wanted us to guess which one it was. I laughed when my dad figured it out
'I do not like the reappearance of The Jesuits ... If ever there was a body of men who merited damnation on earth and in hell, it is this society of Loyola's. Nevertheless, we are compelled by our system of religous toleration to offer them an asylum.' John Adams, 2nd President of the U.S.A
@dosnstuff007 A cover is always necessary. In concealment lies a great part of our strength. Hence we must always hide ourselves under the name of another society. --Die neusten ararbeiten des Spartacus and Philo in dem Illuminaten-Orden, 1794, p: 165
This is taken from page 491 of Foucault's Pendulum by Umberto Eco. 'Coincidentally' Umberto Eco has written the introduction to the newly printed version of Alexandre's The Count of Monte Christo.
This song is so weird and awesome at the same time. I love Steve Howe, but his playing is not very smooth at all. I guess the producer was not in the room when he was recording his solo. What a great theme-Don't kill the Whales.
I Guess This Song didn't get through peoples heads because they were still killing animals back then. Now Things are different today. Great Song ! Love Yes !
@SciFiGuy93 "The minority, the ruling class at present, has the schools and press, usually the Church as well, under its thumb. This enables it to organize and sway the emotions of the masses, and make its tool of them."

They have instigated most of the wars of Europe.' Marquis de LaFayette
why watch or comment if u dont like it!!!!!!!, if u check it out with a virgin ear still why say anything negative ,just move on yes is incredible, steve howe outstanding on this song.....a classic and a favorite....peace out!!!!!!!!!
Stop bashing Yes you damn haters! I grew up with this fantastic timeless incredibly fabulous progressive rock band. Music today sucks and YES is the best rock band ever in history! Forever and ever a fan!!!
Wow, this is precisely the moment that yes went downhill.
Compare this, just try, to the beauty, subtlety, inventiveness, mysteriousness and simple sheer magnificence of CTTE and relayer. Then watch this. Just try.
@jamma246 I do all the time, and I see no "downhill" in Tormato. The band has continued to release amazing songs all the way up through Magnification, and I can't wait to see how the next album sounds.
You're first I'm last You're thirst I'm asked to justify Killing our last heaven beast Don't hunt the whale In beauty Vision Do we Offer much If we reason with destiny, gonna lose our touch Don't kill the whale ... Rejoice They sing They worship their own space In a moment of love, they will die for their grace Don't kill the whale If time will allow We will judge all who came In the wake of our new age to stand for the frail Don't kill the whale
Why don't more music artists speak out for the animals? All people know how to write about is getting or losing love. Good for Yes for caring and trying.
Too bad this album had really bad quality, even the older ones; close to the edge and roundabout had better quality, but the songs in tormato still rocked as hell! Check out the Montreux version of Don't kill the whale for instance, sounds absolutely fantastic!
Remarkable video, seeing it today: look at Jon's strange outfit ;-)). But definitely one of the many, many unique YES song with a powerful massage. And sure: it is certainly the best band of all times.
@danielpassigmailcom They like to kill and eat huge and enormous animals probably to make up for some anatomically small deficiency.....Just kidding!! (Not..!)
Anderson looks ludicrous in shades and that appaling shirt, Squire looks like an undertaker, not one of their best vids tho' I love the song, got to 36 in England but the album did not sell, Yes were as big as Floyd in the early 70's but never had a good manager to focus the group on music, GFTO was the last great album, after that petty squabbles over money meant they never recovered, a strong manager would have kept them focused.
@tet1963 Yes is great, but I kinda see tham as a poor man's Pink Floyd. I've got all their albums up to Drama, and they kind of changed directions there. I love the album-side-length compositions (Close To The Edge, Tales, Gates of Delirium). GFTO is a good album.
@cwtae Wait, so you have all their albums up to Drama, and then that's it? You post that then say you see them (not tham) as a poor man's Pink Floyd!? Are you simple? Pink Floyd is my number one favorite band, all the way through childhood, but you just CAN'T compare these two, they are two completely different machines. Yes is amazing. Listen to Close to the Edge, Awake, Heart of the Sunrise, South Side of the Sky, Siberian Khatru, Starship Troopers, and the more recent In the Presence of.
@cwtae ...and we see you as the typical poor and limited in musical taste dumbass that leaves stupid and biased comments on videos of bands with a huge following "meaning no harm" and expects no heated comebacks from its fans. Next time find a better selection of words while referring to the best band of all times.
@vivelavidarocka OK. Just my opinion, to which I am entitled. I expected combacks, and wondered how long it would take you clods to bring one on. Poor Man's Pink Floyd - that's the selection of words I have chosen and I will stick by that forever. You're just a pig - ha ha charade you are.
@cwtae So you did expect this type of feedback (perverted/desperate kind of attention)..wow!....you must be such a lonely 50 yrs old loser. I pitty you. Hope you get many, many more...Happy holidays man.

Great song but you have to bear in mind two things...the biggest one being how punk music was making this music seem like "dinosaur rock". Also Yes was really on a bit of a downward slide with this album as well and would continue on that slide until 1983.
@BODYSLAMwrestling Downward slide??!! LISTEN TO THE YES TORMATO CD WITH EXTRA TRACKS,ALSO TO DRAMA(ALSO WITH EXTRA TRACKS,REL IN 2004) THE BUGGLES WERE ENAMORED AND INFLUENCED BY YES' TORMATO LP,SURE THE KEYS ARE A BIT HIGH,BUT IT WAS EXPERIMENTATION!!! ALSO,"ONWARD" IS HEAVENLY MUSIC BY SQUIRE!!!

Grandissimo brano.
Great posting and hope Chile finally say NO to Japan or anyone else trying to make our country be involved in these crimes !. Leave the animal kingdom alone - care for our noble companion on a fatigued planet.
I like the LP they tried to do after this one "The Golden Age" also known as the Drunken Paris Sessions of 1979. It's interesting to hear something they did which was left unfinished. The working title "tango" is my favorite tune! A few of the songs were officially released on the expanded edition drama cd.
I do love Yes, but most of their stuff is New Age crap. Still, most music's lyrics is complete crap, at least Yes manages to rock out once and a while. Prog on brothers and sisters. And the potential collective subconscious.
@HollywoodWags yeh those japnanese are bad ecological people, killing whales ,is that a great culture??dont let japanese do that,,boicot whale to japan
@Schueyjr Totally agree! This song is awesome! If people gave Yes a good listen (while smoking pot lol) they'd appreciate the complexity and creativity of Yes.

I love Yes, saw the reunion tour in Mountain View California! Amazing to say the least.

I do love Yes, but most of their stuff is New Age crap. Still, most music's lyrics is complete crap, at least Yes manages to rock out once and a while. Prog on brothers and sisters. And the potential collective subconscious.

I have this song on a 7" single with a picture sleeve I bought in 1978. It has a b-side, "Abilene", which is not on the album.

Rick Wakeman dá um show.
Agora esse video é muito feio, ainda mais esse visual de Gilliard adotado pelo Jon Anderson.

@Schueyjr Totally agree! This song is awesome! If people gave Yes a good listen (while smoking pot lol) they'd appreciate the complexity and creativity of Yes.
