It's wonderful to have this recreation of Fosse's production since there in no footage of the original. This version even features some of the same performers as the first production. Fosse was actually irritated that they cut about 20 minutes from this without his approval.

some notes are bad but this is how it should be seen. most people do pippin wrong and it sucks. and seeing that there is no footage of rubinstein, this is what ppl should look to.

I actually have a very strong opinion that pippin should only be done in an environmental stage but since that was impossible for this production I think it was amazing. Ben Vereen is the definitive Leading Player.

katt is flat on the G at the end, but its slightly live-able. as for being done outside; no. they way fosse created it with its simple yet imaginative backround of the curtain takes away so much of the show. the dancing will be overlooked, the talent will be overlooked. This show is meant to be done raw and real, not outside where ppl get distracted. Also, if a pippin screams some notes, its kinda ok as long as they play it off as anger (like Katt does in corner of the sky).

Environmental means that the audience is in the environment of the show, not being outside. If you are going to try and bash people's opinions and sound like a know-it-all, maybe you should pick up a book about modern theatre.
