OK, I know both cars very well, from experience what I can say is that since M5 is more heavier obviously RS 4 will have a better performance when accelerationg from 0 and when cornering, RS4 is light, so its quicker, thats why Audi fans tried to race with a M5, they know they cant compete with a M3, when compared with M3, BMW M3 is faster and better perfomance and better in cornering

on a straight, the v8 m3 will begin to pull away at higher speeds making it overall faster. But from lower speeds or from stop, they are equal. THis is because of Audi's quattro awd that helps it at low speeds and hurts it at high speeds. I've read and seen many reviews as well saying the rs4 is faster around the track, but if it was a power track, the m3 could possibly win by alot. The rs4 is pretty nice for what it is.

I'm gonna have to disagree here man, Jeremy Clarkson does a comparison with the M3 and just audi's S4 (B6) with the 4.2 V8 and yes of course as we all can guess the M3 did beat the Audi in the straight line, like it has for many years. However in the end of the video it came down to the final test, who is faster around the track which honestly to me and I'm sure to many others what matters the most, and in the end the S4 got around the track a full second faster. DSc CAN be fully dissengaged, or at least it can be on EU models. You have to hold down the DSC button for a moment or two and it switches off. RS4 :D

In the US the M5 cant turn the DSC off. In the European version you can. Also horsepower goes down from 506 to 500 in the US to. The new 2008 M5 manual can turn the DSC off in the US now but the previous models cant.
