i was either goning buy this or eos but ppl alot problems/defects with eos and this has just some missing features but i like zoom and quality of picture this kinda for me
if only they stopped trying to make the silly technofiles happy and made less BS useless features like fireworks, miniatures, zoom and whatever...and instead invested more into real photography features like a real viewfinder, a quick access to aperture and shutter speed and a REAL manual focus unlike the retarded manual focus this thing has...man..they would really be on to something. It may be one of the best superzooms you can buy but that's just because all the other ones are even worst.
$713.00 in the UK? It's $380.00 in the States. They really tax the shit out of things over there. Anyhow, I just got one & it's working out very well. I upgraded from point & shoot, not wanting to go DSLR.
I'm from Belgium. But there is no Belgian Amazon website. I can buy it on the German Amazon website though (amazon.de), that wouldn't make any difference would it? Since it's bound to have language options for English or Dutch no mater where in Europe I buy it?
IMO, after using mine for a while: The menu setup is illogical. Picture quality is just OK. Charging the battery should NOT require removing it from the camera. Panorama mode... I could not find it !
Is it possible to speak a little faster?! The I can't hear ANY of the words and I can concider this background noise! Christ... relax! Worst reviewer ever!
So, I really want this camera and the Canon Powershot SX40 HS. But, the Rebel T3 is alittle more expensive, I wanted to know which is BETTER..because the Rebel T3 doesn't have that far of a zoom, and I don't want to have to buy ANOTHER lens. But the Powershot has a NICE zoom. Plus, I'm only 13 and need a GOOD camera, mainly for photography. So in your honest opinon, does the Powershot work AS GOOD as the T3..I need to know ASAP! @Smileface5 the t3 is a REAL dslr, and this is not really dslr, it's more of a point and shoot. The t3 probably gives much better pictures, and is a lot more advanced for beginners

RAW is missing so Canon can lauch a SX50 whith this feature. Just like SX30 that doesn't record in full HD wich is ridiculous because any other camera does so. So they released SX40 with this feature. The view finder is terrible in comparison wih the SX20. The best thing I think about this model is that the image quality is much better in comparison with the predecesors. I prefer never (when possible) shoot with ISO 400 with the SX30 I have because the photos get too noisy.

This is the highly versatile but non specialized tool you use to introduce you to the passion of photography...it will help you choose your specialized tool later get it? It cant be perfect and nor should it.
@quigon87yt sorry... but you missed out one "0"... what i meant was the 600D not the 60D.... the 600D is an entry level DSLR which is a lot cheaper than the 60D... the DSLR produces better photos than bridge cameras. if it is still way out of your price range then... then get the Canon1100D... try searching for these DSLR's here on you tube... plenty of reviews...Cheers mate.
@truknayr23 - I have been doing some research for the past couple days. Well I've been doing a lot of research and your right about the EOS 600D. I may save a little more money and go for the 600D, although I hear & have noticed the 60D is about 100.00 more & might even go with that one.

@Synnergy08 I still have my S5 IS in addition to my XSi and 7D. I don't want to sell it since it's still a great compact to carry around. However, yes...since I got mine just 4 years ago next month, it's been "replaced" a number of times since then.
@dcnutter I got my S5 IS a couple of years ago, but after just a couple of weeks the sensor broke (an orange vertical line appeared in photos and in the views) and my brother had it. I used an Olympus SP-600 UZ for a while, but that was a horrible camera, so I got the Canon back and I use it now. I'm not much of a Canon fan, but it destroys the Olympus I had. I'm planning on buying a Nikon DSLR and I'd only use the canon as backup. :) It still makes great pictures and is easy to use!
@follyfx lol:) You have to hack your camera to have the ability to shoot in RAW... it's funny, but definitely interesting. Does it work with all Canon cams?
@milangfx Is no Hack. Is a risk free app. Software is loaded from the SD card. There's no internal programming involved. Don't be a wuss, try it. you'll love it. Besides... Higher bitrate is also ajustable, so you crank that h264 to the skies to get almost RAW quality in video. ---- And no... is not available for every canon, just a few selection of them. SX40 included of course, because is a killer cam. ShiŦŦy cams are not supported.
@milangfx man if you are really into modifying you pictures THAT much to need raw files get a DSLR...this has many more drawbacks than not having raw files lol..it's a point and shoot!!
