I saw this on TCM and it made me wanna cry (I'll do it tomorrow though). It was very touching, but they didn't make it period specific since the styles scream 1950s instead of 1920s or 30s (which the real Lillian Roth spent most of her career).
There is a new Book on Susan Hayward By Gene Arceri called"Brooklyn Scarlett" Susan Hayward Fire in the wind" I know the Gene Arceri the Author. Gene Arceri's beginning of the extensive research that went into this book. A journey that took him from Brooklyn to Atlanta, with stops everywhere, and in-between wanting face to face interviews, anywhere he could find some insight into this compelling personality. With help from Hayward's brother Walter.
I noticed Susan Hayward is in this. I just bought some of her movies off of lovingtheclassics. If you are interested google it (lovingtheclassics) and you will find her actual movies and more.
The Early Bird Catches the Pretty Worm ~ SO Wake Up~ Wake Up you sleepy head ~ Get Up get out of bed ~ Cheer Up for the Red Robin is coming your way .So Get Going with your day for you don't want to make her wait... <3
One of Susan Hayward's best performance, truly worthy of an Oscar. She finally won it 3 years later for I Want To Live! Another great masterpiece for Ms. Hayward, my grateful applause to a fine actress, there will never be another superstar like Susan.
Mom-You used to sing this to us all the time as kids-I miss you so and be at peace and no more pain my sweet angel Mother-and please be with sissy and tell her I miss her sooooooo-your daughter-TJ
Susan Hayward was a 20th star who sought to play the life of Lillian Roth in MGM's film "I'll Cry Tomorrow". Susan had a turbulent prior experience of a failed sucide attempt over her failed marriage to Jess Barker and gave one of the greatest performances of her career in Danny Mann's film film. Susan Hayward won the Cannes Film Festival for her performance but lost fhe Oscar to Anna Magnani.
This was a huge hit movie and Susan Hayward considered it her favorite.
Susan Hayward was a great actress and this was one of her best films. I have always loved this song and I remembered she did it in the movie, so to find it here was a wonderful surprise!
I was blown out of my mind. I was listening to british pianist Winifred Atwell playing this number and my memory jumped to Susan Hayward so I typed the name in and wo here it is. Thanks a lot for adding to my day.

Not her best role by any means and she was a better singer than a dancer but her emoting made it work.

I remember watching this movie as a kid. I absolutely loved it. Susan Hayward is one of my all time favorite actresses. Sexy & sultry, but classy.

FOR an actress not really known for singing, her vocal efforts here were extremely impressive - and her acting performance was wonderful in the Film.
THANK you for sharing.
