  • Cameron and his pathetic Thatcherite worshipers are pissing themselves laughing at you lot fighting amongst yourselves. Tories delight in the working classes fighting amongst themselves.

The haves and the have nots exist in every country but the race card is the oldest mis used weapon. please don't be distracted by the greedy

  • Pity it aint like that now!! Wonderful photo's Thanks.

  • i was listening to this song and pal of my cradle days yesterday the singer was rose marie very powerful voice love it.

  • truely east end, not like today, full of muslims, other invaders, breaks my heart now, east end has gone, called mecca now

  • Also, having grown up in Bethnal Green and researched the area, all you need to do is go to the archive on Bancroft Road and look at any newspaper before 1970, all about different crimes that happened in the area. If you think the East End is a dump now I dont know what kind of self contained palace you lived in while here, even Arthur Morrisons 'Child of the Jago' portrayed it as a slum 120 years ago. Keep living your life with blinkers on, yeh?

  • British? It was never British, idiot. Brief History lesson of that area, as you are clearly too stupid to open a book. SInce 1700's French immigrants, Since 1800s Jewish,Irish and Italian, then Polish and Russians from 1890s onwards, such as the siege of Sidney St involving Peter the Painte., Since the mid 1800's Lascar sailors settled in the area. The East end was never 'British' get your facts right. Keep your racist ignorance to yourself, all you do is highlight yourself for being uneducated.

  • @theyneedsomething2do freind it is british, you said immigrants, meaning coming to britain. as never british, get your facts right, leave the racist card alone, if you and yours were'nt born on this soil, you are NOT BRITISH

  • you know fuck all about this country, if you dont like our history , fuck off, and we'll stop your benifits too

  • @theyneedsomething2do well who lived there before they came arsehole

  • When Bethnal Green was British!

i must say it brought a tear to my eye just see how it has all changed i would give any thing to just be there and see it all again thank you for putting them on there

  • Wow, jimmy could sing.

  • they was the good old days no like now

  • Is that Mile End Odeon?

  • @MunozAngelNavarro, It certainly is and you may have also noticed the ABC cinema at Stepney Green

  • Brilliant pictures of my old stamping ground in East London. One small comment at 4.08 the spelling of the road is incorrect, it should be Burdett Road, in case anyone does not recognise the location it is the junction of Burdett Road and Mile End Road with Grove Road behind the camera man. Thanks for posting.

  • Enjoyed your images of old Bethnal Green in this video and on the stills on other sites. Like another of your respondents I am from family living in Shoreditch, Bethnal Green & Hackney since at least 1815 and likely earlier (working on research). However, I STILL live in the area (in fact in Gore Road which features in your Victoria Park stills) and I find it is still a wonderful area to live, more vibrant and colourful in some ways but still a lovely community if you're not xenophobic! Alan

  • @sessnazx : Thanks for the share.....a fascinating view of London!

  • This was my Dad,s song, he sadly passed away nearly 4 years ago. Listening to it today, brings me so memories of a great dad who I miss so dearly.

  • Mine too, listen to it when I am missing him, which is quite often. I am sure they can see us wherever they are.

  • This was originally written as a Waltz (3/4 time) I sang it for my parents before they passed....

  • what a lovely voice, think of my aunty and uncle singing this in the kitchen when I was young, theyre sadly no longer with me, i love romantically this era of time because i think there was a whole lot less greed in society.

  • This song always gets me :) ..

  • great song, by a fantastic singer

  • my grandfather put me on this song ... my grandfather is the man... Big Ern...

  • Really fantastic. I was born and breed in Bethnal Gree. Can you please tell me where these pictures are from or where I can get copies

    Sue Potter

  • Nice to see some proper Cockneys...

  • @grahampl trouble is mate - the east end's still there = but all the cockneys have gone. This was my mum and dad's song - played it and they danced to it at their 50th wedding anniversary. Happy days.

  • last song mom dad danced to

  • Like most of the other comments I too lived in East London, Mile End, moved away so the kids could have a safer life. Thanks for the video, happy memories

  • i too come from eastend stock, Plaistow. And want to say a big thankyou for this, it helps me to see the kind of life my parents and grandparents (and theirs) lived.!!

  • jimmy rosellie is my unvle

  • Dear Reaper,

This song was played at my parents' 50th anniversary party. What a great talent your uncle is. Is he still entertaining?

I am fortuante to have a couple of his albums in my collection.

    Always,

    Iris Rosenberg-Cooper

  • my grandpa before he passed away had one of those big black records that played on that one thing that u turn and it plays i dont no the name of it

  • THANK YOU FOR THIS DOWNLOAD 5 STARS

  • A touching song with touching scenes of a life gone by. Both my parents were East Enders born in 1914 and as I emigrated to Australia in the 60's this video now shows my children and grandchildren where their roots came from.

  • Beautiful song brought tears to my eyes remembering my mum and dad as it was their favourite song. video was brilliant i have lived in bethnal green all my life and to see them areas as they was back then was great thanks

  • That was smashing. I love all this old stuff from the East End. My parents and grandparents are from there. From as far back as the 1700s at least. It looked so nice and clean.

Shame the colours of the faces have changed a bit though.

  • Sorry for not knowing this singer, this is going into my favorites.

  • love this download my mums favourite song but we didnt celebrate ve day until 1945 i lived in croydon south london i was 5 at that time great street party even though i did have chickenpox

  • My family go back in the east end (Bethnal Green and Shoreditch etc) at least 2 hundred years (maybe longer I'm trying to find out).

point is that I'm the last generation of my family to do so, the place is now such a socially divided, mixed up shithole that Ive moved away just so that my kids can go to an English speaking school. but hey, thats Britain for you, losing It's real identity a little more every day. :-(

  • @TrulyBritish hello mate ..i just read your old comments about east-end from 2 years ago ..you are right mate east-end is a shithole now no pride & no respcet no more so sad makes me sick ..i live in australia now for 30 years went back 6 years ago could'nt believe it mate sorry to say but makes me fuckin mad ...bless to all take care if you read this msg bless out to all brian ... i was born in stepeny ....

  • @badboybaldy1 More rose tinted bollocks

  • @TrulyBritish ahhhh, nothing like a bit of good old fashioned east end ignorant racism eh?

  • @TrulyBritish What a pile of rubbish you're spouting. Did you ever see Victorian London?

It would make London today look like California. I can't stand this rose tinted bollocks so many from a certain generation seem to be stuck in.

London in the 60's was a den of crime and corrupt police in their pocket. Why do you think the Metropolitan police was created to crack down on it all?

  • @TrulyBritish You mean like the identity of the aborigines whose country you moved to?

  • @theyneedsomething2do i never moved there, i as being one,, i live here, this is my land,, how dare you insult me , tar the brush with the same paint

  • I learned to day that my granddad hasn't got long left, so I looked for this song because he and my nan love it. Thank you.

  • Lovely video, wonderful memories and great music but I wished I'd lived in Russia Lane because in

South London we didn't celebrate VE Day until May 1945. But I'll forgive the typist...Thanks.

  • what year was the repton boxing picture taken?

  • my favorite song from Jimmy.

    it forces you to remember.

sad in a lot of ways.

a very fine singer but not comparable to Sinatra.

  • More songs by Jimmy Roselli! GREAT VOICE!!!

  • Let's not get carried away... This is a GREAT recording, however, most of the other songs by Jimmy couldn't hold a candle to Frank Sinatra or Tony Bennett. The accompanying video has nothing to do with song, Bogart

  • i may get flack for this but sinatra couldnt ever hold a candle to jimmy roselli

  • You're 100% right.

The mob chose Sinatra and made him.

Besides that Sinatra was an ass$#@$e.

Roselli could hit notes only Sinatra

    could dream of.

  • Roselli is on a par with tony Bennett! Both are better then sinatra!

  • i still live here and yeah things have change only not for the better

  • A great song from a better singer than Sinatra

to match some wonderfull nostalgic images. No such music like that anymore and no wonderfull images to be seen either. Thanks for the clip.

  • It's nice that someome put the great voice of Jimmy Roselli on youtube.

  • i cant put a name to the singer. any help ?

  • Jimmy Roselli

  • that was lovely. my god hasn't things changed.

  • yeah havent they changed i still live here born bread and will die here not the east end i grew up in sad to say things have changed for the worst
