  • nIce

  • hey great playing man.....this is gona help me a lot when i find a place to play get this- i been banned from playing where i live...im movin out fast......

  • @sid77777 always accoustic and headphones mate

  • @Ridley72 so what this guys great man

  • @dizzyzack Ionian's the first mode. Dorian's the second mode. Phyrgian's the third mode. Lydian's the fourth mode. Mixolydian's the fifth mode. Aeolian is the sixth mode. Locrian is the seventh mode.

  • String pairs are a very good idea to teach people. Good job.

  • I noticed you're not using hammer ons or pull offs - congrats. Refreshing to see instructions delivered correctly! I also see you've got that 'circle picking' thing going on. Great lessons! But when are you going to tell me to tune to Eb? {^;^}

  • Very interesting exercise you have here. I enjoyed your lesson. Nice refersher course. But damn, horrible tone.

  • he should have tuned first...

  • @asdfasdsfsa it is tuned retard.

  • pro hair.

  • nothing happens

  • haha when he says "and today well be looking at...." it sounds like hes taking a huge dump in his pants. lol. but man, this dudes tone is incredibly insane. it sounds monsterous.

  • what key is this in?

  • D. it says so when hes spelling it out. he starts out with D. that means its in D.

  • starting on D doesnt mean its in D, lol.

What if he was doing a 2 , 5 ,1 to C? Then he would be starting on a D but he would be in the key of C.

  • well yeah, i know, but he is playing in d.

  • one and a two and a three and a, hey it's Lawrence Welcks grandson!

  • D mixolydian is G major

  • Same notes yes, only in G major you emphasize G and not D so there is a difference rly.

  • @westvocal And G major is E minor :O It's all connected!!! Trippy Shit!

  • This dude reminds me of John Corabi... O.o

  • the modes are alot easier than you think!

First mode - Ionian (maj scale)

    C D E F G A B C

second mode just start on the second note!

    D E F G A B C D (D minor [dorian] scale) same notes as your C major!

3rd mode just starts on the 3rd! and hits the same notes! you just need to know the mode names and if its major or minor and you can figure out all the paterns all on your own

  • its just an inversion of a scale with a difference characteristic because of the styles and places that adopted the modes in their music........there are notes that when accented ephesize the phrigianess or lydianness and corresponding chords but this is all basic theory that becomes apparent the more and more you learn the more the patterns emerge.

  • I wonder how much of that stuff he uses.

  • this guy is amazin

  • ive heard about this but never really got the complete formula or wateva u would like 2 call it...thnx buddy

  • is this the guy that won the trans siberian orchestra thing?

  • I think you should use an example of the video with a backing track since the use of the modes of the major scales all the depend on the background chords. If you play D Mixolydian, with out a backing track it will sound just like the G major Scale. Instead if you use a backing track with the chord progressions of Am7 and D7 the true taste of the Mixolydian mode will arise. It will sound similar to the licks santan plays on "Oye Como Va". If you wanna listen to Mixolidian on action listen to it.

  • G major or E minor(aeolian)

  • he looks a little bit like Yngwie Malmsteen

  • yes

  • yes

  • is it just me or are all these mode videos tuned a half step down.

  • Very Jeff Beck.

  • wow I don't get how anyone can pick so smoothly at 200rpms!!

  • im agree with Scheep this a fast way to find something cool to practice when youre bored

  • cool tnx

  • That's not what i'd call a lesson...

  • haha the first few notes sounds like the beginning of "Sunday, Bloody Sunday".

  • Nice :) I have to give you extra credit for your picking. Must have taken long to learn.

  • good licks and lesson
