Haha. Serves your right for. OT knowing what your doing. Don't get me wrong, that fish was huge and would feel like shooting myself after it broke off but.. You were constantly reeling when it was pulling drag (big no no) twisting your line to shit. Plus you have to stick your rod down the hole when it starts thrashing so the line doesn't rub on ice. Maybe you will learn now and next time post another vid with the right technique and get a pic in your hands. Cheers

I feel for ya guys..most fish are lost right at the hole. You guys were horsing that fish to much, should have just let your rod do all the work and tire the fish out, not constantly reeling against the drag! Better luck next time!!

You caused the line to break by constantly reeling against the drag. Add to that the ice, temperature and bad angle of ice fishing and thats what you get. Next time put the odds in your favor by learning how to fish. Tip one: don't reel against the drag. If he pulls drag let it go and only reel when he'll let you but keep constant pressure. If it's too loose like your obviously was, tighten it. Tip two: put your pole tip into the water to avoid abrasion against the ice when he runs. Tip three:

to prevent the line sticking. put the rod tip down in the water. and when the fish gets close. lower your drag
