I wanna hug all those cats and kittens! I really want to adopt another cat, but I can't because my cat is not friendly with other cats. I think it's awesome that you're volunteering at that shelter! Do you just play with them to help socialize them, or do you do other things too?
@meyow16 As a volunteer I help with the socializing as well as with keeping everything clean. I go later in the day so they have already been fed and any major messes are already cleaned but I still have a little bit to do. I just like to give the cats some love. :)
Melody, why don't you put an ad on Craigslist - Pet Services to do pet sitting for people. People will pay $25 - $50 to get someone good to do that for them when they are on vacation and stuff.
@bowiechick No problem. I should have said $25 - $50 a day. If they are gone for a week, thats quite a bit of money. Also you should consider applying for jobs as a Veterinary Assistant at local animal clinics in your area. That could be a solution for a career for you.
@smallpebbleuncovered She doesn't seem to notice. She notices more with other dog smells on me but when I come home with cat smells, she's mostly just happy to see me.
@o0Theresa0o Not all of them are the snuggly part, but they are all cute. :) The funny thing is, I'm fine the whole time I'm in there but as soon as I leave I start sneezing. WTF?
@bowiechick I had cats/dogs growing up, & I was diagnosed with asthma. Turned out my breathing problems were actually allergic reactions. Once I was older, I saw an allergist and sure enough, reacted to cats, dogs and pretty much any other animal with fur. So after I left home and wasn't around the animals, I could suddenly breathe again. However, because I am not exposed to them all the time anymore, my reactions are worse now (break out in hives). You're probably allergic too.
I used to volunteer at a no kill animal shelter in high school. Loved it. :)
