A boat battery wouldn't have that much 'juice', neither would a car battery. The resistance of a squirrel from foot to foot is approx 20K meaning these sort of batteries will have no effect. Also they would never manage to strike through the fur like a high voltage pulse. My system uses 100 uS pulses of 5700 volts at a peak current of 6 Amps once a second meaning the average power is very low but the pulse power is high, similar to a Taser so it's unpleasant but not fatal.
